"And yet look who shared so eagerly in the spoils of another, more dangerous predator's meal." Diablo growled. "You can call me a coward all you want but it won't change the fact that you where just as hungry and desperate as I. The only difference between us is you where stupid enough to go out on that plain, and eat that rex's prey..." Diablo looked away from the raptor, back out into the jungle before adding, "and I was stupid enough to follow you."

Aircrest's lips curled at that. "Yes. Yes you were. See, what part of I could outrun a Rex didn't you understand? I've been running most of my damn life so this crap isn't new to me. You on the other claw were nearly gobbled up by the giant. If you had died just now, it would have been your fault alone, not mine" he snarled. Aircrest would not have the Rugops dump all the blame on him for this predicament when it was equally responsible.

a large splash exploded in the lake, the sound drowned out by the roar of the waterfall mere feet away. Crusher's head exploded from beneath the surface a moment later, the Homalocephale struggling to escape a couple of feet from him. The Rex took a few breaths, recovering from the fall, before turning to the herbivore, kicking at the water and shifting his tail awkwardly in an attempt to move forward, to no avail. He barely managed to generate enough force to keep him afloat, let alone move. but then a thought occurred to him. Crocodiles swam with their tails....perhaps he could as well. rippling his tail, the Rex noticed he suddenly began to move. smirking, he pressed on, putting more power behind the tail movement, soon swimming through the water as if it came naturally, the herbivore's cries of panic and struggling becoming more and more frantic as the predator closed in, finally ceasing as he closed his jaws on it's spine, the long teeth sinking between the vertibrae and severing the spinal cord, paralysing and swiftly killing the dome-headed herbivore as he made his way for the lake's edge, lifting the kill onto the rocky outcrop overhanging the edge before powering himself upwards, placing a foot on the rock and pulling the rest of his body out of the water, collapsing beside his prize with a sigh...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"

Steeltalon was quietly alert as she crunched through the delicate bone of one of the compy's hind legs, severing the limb. She wasn't just listening for the movements of bigger predators, but the less detectable sounds of the progress of her own kind through the nearby underbrush. Fatalis seemed to be alone, but that didn't mean there weren't others nearby...her wariness of other raptors was quite possibly one of the reasons she was still alive. Maybe it bordered on paranoia at points, but...she couldn't be too careful, with Riptide out for her blood.

Xanthe, seeing Aurora's cautious approach, moved to the side a bit to give her room. He heard one or two stifled, surprised growls from his packmates, and silenced them with a look through narrowed eyes. Born outside the pack or not, Aurora was a mother with a young son to care for. He wouldn't have her starve or be surviving on scraps on his watch. Not so long as he led this pack.

Bane's head cocked to the side, the Dromaeosaur trying to read the foreign raptor's expression.
"A likely story... I suppose that's why our whole damn pack has disappeared to who knows where, with no one to account?" he hissed suspiciously, edging sideways...

Maloriak hissed:"I haven't even been in this area for a day and didn't even know that you had a pack until you mentioned it. Whatever it is that made your pack dissappear, it wouldn't have been possible for a loner to do so."

"And how do I know you're telling the truth, raptor?" Bane growled back in response, keeping alert for any potential ambushes.
"Because I sssay so," hissed a voice from the trees behind Bane. The Dromaeosaurus' head whipped back, his form tensing, before relaxing again upon seeing who it was.
Renegade stepped forward, hissing "Whoever this isss, he's not responsible for the ressst... the scent at its strongest matches that of the ones we were pursuing."
Turning to the raptor Bane was confronting, he growled "Tell me, what are you called?"

Maloriak growled to the raptor that had stepped forward:"My name is Maloriak. Who are you?" He was relieved inwardly that this new comer had stopped the Dromeasaur from continuing to ask questions despite being told the truth...

"I'm called Renegade, and thisss is Bane,", he hissed, shifting his gaze to his fellow packmate momentarily.
"We were going after a couple intruders who were harassing our pack, when we were forced to break pursssuit. Upon coming back here, we found the place deserted," he continued, eyes narrowing. "Have you seen any others around thisss area?"...

Bane's forehead creased into a frown, knowing what was coming next. He shot Renegade a warning glance.
The raptor simply glanced at Bane, before growling, "Well, we must sssearch for anyone we can find from our pack, along with whoever did thisss... you're welcome to join usss, if you wish..."

Diablo turned his head from the outside and the raptor, completely silent. He wasn't going to fight a losing battle, the raptor was right but it didn't mean the rugops had to be ok with it. He decided instead to ignore the smaller predator, and spend his time resting. When they collected themselves, Diablo assured himself they'd split up, and he'd never run into the raptor again.

Aircrest's burning gaze was locked on the brown flanked Rugops through narrowed eyes and his teeth were still bared. Why didn't it continue arguing? Did it just accept his words and decided to sulk? The green raptor calmed himself down, his lips lowering to cover his needle-like teeth and his expression going blank. "Getting mad about it won't solve anything. What's happened has happened and we can't do anything to change it. Might as well focus on moving as soon as we can" he said finally, moving over to the other side of the narrow cave and lowering himself to the cool, rocky floor. "So; You got a name, redhead?" he barked

Maloriak, after silently thinking for a momment over whether or not to help Bane and his packmate find their fellow members, growled to Renegade:"I'll help you with your search. Which way are you two heading to start?"

Bane shook his head slightly, Renegade's way of seemingly openly trusting others so easily not having quite met his approval yet.
"We were going to go back to the area where we had been pursuing the othersss, before we'd been forced to stop," Renegade hissed, cringing slightly. "We'll try to see if we can find any cluesss to the... raidersss' whereaboutsss once we reach there. It'sss inland, not all that far..."

Diablo ignored the raptor's question, he didn't see why a name would matter. He forced his eyes shut and tried drowning out the sounds of the jungle, and the smaller predator behind him. He flicked his tail towards him, forming a C shape as he curled up to get comfortable.

"Don't got one?" Aircrest barked after the lasting silence, his question being genuine. He assumed the reason the Rugops was in such a poor state was a lack of upbringing for some reason, such as himself. The green raptor took the initiative to name himself but maybe the Rugops hadn't. "Fine then. Your name is now Redhead. What do you think of that?" he growled.

The rugops let out a heavy exhale, in annoyance, his eye's opening briefly. He fought answering the raptor, and decided instead to remain silent. Awkwardly he readjusted, facing further away from the raptor behind him. Diablo again closed his eyes and tried to sleep.

The raptor sighed and went on to hiss "Lighten up Redhead! Sulking isn't going to help us much right about now!" He peeked over the Rugops' side, seeing rays of sunlight streaming through the treetops. It wasn't even late afternoon yet and the larger predator was actually getting ready to sleep!
