Xanthe gave Aurora a long look, sympathy and desire for revenge battling in his amber gaze. "When the day comes," he growled, "I only hope it comes without too high a cost." He turned his attention to the rest of his pack. "For now, we need to be alert," he added. He looked from his packmates, to his mate, to the feeding youngsters, then back to Aurora. His tone softened, as he knew he was about to touch on a sore spot for her. "Those spinosaurs. On the way back, you said the big one had killed one of your packmates....was his pack so many when it happened?"

Steeltalon felt a chuckle build in her chest. "Somehow, after seeing that performance, I'm not surprised."

Aurora remained silent for a few moments, gathering the courage to speak of the subject she had long since buried. "The Spinosaur only had a couple of companions with him that time. they were fishing while...while Savara and I were hunting. Our catch lured them in. That's how I learned the Spinosaur's name was Thrasher" growled the female lowly, the last word hissing between her teeth acidly, as if she wished she could kill the beast simply through uttering it's name...

Fatalis chuckled at the comment, soon calming as he hissed "Enough with the jokes though. You still interested in a decent meal? I smell Dryosaur"...

It didn't take long for Crash and Brighteyes to return to the Albinos' makeshift camp: a small cave that barely fit the whole pack comfortably. Still, it was better than in the open. Several of the white raptors were stationed at the cave's entrance, welcoming their returning scouts back inside. Brighteyes hissed, "Crash, get another scout and keep hunting. I need to talk to Sharpclaw..." Crash shrugged, not bothering to question his packmate, before moving off, elsewhere into the cave. It wasn't a very complicated system of tunnels, so Brighteyes had little trouble tracking down her pack leader. Sharpclaw was busy speaking with a cluster of worried-looking chicks, his larger size somehow not intimidating to the little hatchlings. In fact, he never seemed to be particularly intimidating unless he tried. He'd never really needed himself to be, after all.

"I assure you, she will be fine. We just need to find something to make her feel better, that's all..." Sharpclaw trailed off as he saw Brighteyes approach. "Please, little ones, go and play with your friends." The hatchlings all nodded and scampered off, deciding not to listen in on adult talk. It was usually boring anyway...

"Is there something, wrong, Brighteyes?" Sharpclaw asked, concerned evident on his face. "Did you find something?" Brighteyes nodded. "Yes, a raptor. Loner, I think. Not too polite, as expected, but he certainly knew about those things that drove us out. Called them Troodon." Sharpclaw perked up, suddenly very interested. "He knows about them? Did you bring him here?" Brighteyes shook her head. "No, he refused to help. Wanted something in return, and I didn't know how to repay him." Sharpclaw stared at the ground for a moment, hissing, "D*mn... Brighteyes, I think I need to show you something. Something important." Brighteyes arched a scaly brow. "O... kay?" "Please, follow me. There is something about these Troodon that I refuse to inform our pack of, for fear of all-out panic. I trust you will keep what I show you secret, yes?" "Of... of course, Sharpclaw..."

Xanthe nodded slowly, committing the name to memory. The big spinosaur, Thrasher...he wouldn't be forgotten. "I understand it's painful to talk about," he growled gently. "but do you remember how many were with him then?"

"Two were accompanying him at the time. There were probably others elsewhere" responded Aurora immediately. the memory of the three predators attacking her packmate was burned into memory. "We had just brought down an Iguanodon. An aging female with a limp and an infected bite injury on one leg. A Rex injury she continued. "Thrasher looked up from the water where he was fishing.....and sneered. The look he gave us intimidated me. Savara reassured me we were fine. That nothing would happen. Then Thrasher led his two comrades towards us, accusing us of being on their turf. Savara argued that we weren't, and that the land we were on was neutral. Thrasher hissed that the land was theirs, and that they hadn't finished marking the turf. Savara retorted saying it wasn't our fault they hadn't finished. she then reached for the Iguanodon and started dragging it away, but was attacked by the Spinosaurs. she left the kill and ran back, telling me to run as fast as I could...back to the pack. she slowed and turned on them, trying to buy me time, luring them away. I tried to stop her but she told me to keep running. that she would catch up with me" explained the female, her tone tense, the female fighting valiantly against the emotions that welled up at the memory. "When I arrived with the pack leader and some others...she lay on the ground...breathing her last breaths. If I had stayed...I'd probably have ended up the same. I was too young to fight, and we were outnumbered. Her sacrifice....saved me. Because of that I vowed that one day I would make them pay" she stated finally, sighing shakily, Blade chirping as he looked up at his mother, concerned, nuzzling up against her leg, the female smiling at the chick as she lay in a crouch, Blade scampering over to her neck, his hunger temporarily forgotten, the youngster sensing his mother's discomfort...

Chomper moved forward quietly to avoid attention from the prey he had selected which was a small saltosaur with a broken leg. The giga was surprised that the herbivore could walk or stand but he didn't truly care for all he saw was an easy meal

Aircrest looked out from the narrow straight that was the cave entrance. The plants were still and the air was alive with the sounds of birds and distant trumpets and bellows. None were of the Tyrannosaur whose home he and the Rugops intruded. That changed soon enough however, the nearby roar dashing all hope that it was asleep or far away for the green and black Velociraptor. "Hey; wake up, Redhead" Aircrest barked over a shoulder to his sleeping company, delivering a swift kick to his flank after to assist his words...

Diablo's whole body jolted in reaction to the kick, in the brief panic he smashed his head against the side of the cave. A pained squeal escaped from his lungs, the rugops shook its head as it began to remember where it was. Quickly he turned his head back to the raptor. "WHAT!?"

Aircrest's gaze shot out of the cave and to the tree line about 10 yards away, expecting the Rex to burst out of the foliage with a fury to break through the rock that served as sanctuary for him and Diablo. "Oh you jitter-foot *******..." he thought. After staring out into the open for a moment, the raptor realized that danger, despite it looming over them like a storm cloud, was still at bay for the time being. He looked back to the Rugops and hissed "Get up. We've been here long enough and I say its time we left."

Without responding Diablo looked out to the greenery beyond the rocky walls. He took a moment to adjust his eyes to the glare of the brighter outside world. Quietly, the rugops focused all his senses on the forest just beyond the cave. Trying as best he could to detect the trex, he could find little reason to believe it was still nearby. Diablo gave an annoyed look back to the raptor, still grumpy about being woken up so suddenly, before he pushed himself up, taking care not to hit the rock walls or make to much noise.

Cautiously, Aircrest walked out of the cave and looked around, spinning on his feet to make sure he was able to get a picture of all angles, ensuring that there was nothing that could take him by surprise. "Easy, easy," he thought, trying to calm himself. "Just because you're out in the open doesn't mean it knows th-"

The piercing cry of a Pterosaur gliding overhead made him stiffen in place, his thin body rigid on the shallow rock slope that lead up to the cave. With a sigh of relief upon realizing what made the call, he muttered "This can't be healthy"

Diablo slowly paced ahead, giving the pterosaurs little more than a glance. If there was a rex around he was confident he'd pick up on it, it's hard for those big animals to conceal themselves. He was still careful to keep quiet, cautiously putting one foot in-front of the other. He took his time as he examined possible routes. The forest would be far easier to hide and evade a rex in, but it would also be a prime area for ambush. There was a plain not to far from there which would allow for them to move quicker, but it would leave them wide open. "which way?" Diablo asked the raptor behind him quietly, keeping his eyes on the surrounding forest, waiting for signs of their friend to show up.

Aircrest looked to the trees, a frown on his face. In the forest, he'd be in his element. The branches of the treetop allowed him passage where the Tyrannosaurus could not reach. At this point, the only danger he faced high above the jungle floor was his own folly. The Rugops did not share this advantage and for him, moving through the trees meant taking the chance of walking into a trap. While Aircrest did not accept full blame for the mess he and Diablo got into, he did realize he was part of the cause and he wouldn't put his own well being over the stranger's. "Head for the plains," he growled. "And be ready to run."

Diablo responded by nodding his head, veering off the rocky surface and onto soft soil, it was easier to reduce the sound of his own footfalls when the impact was absorbed by the dirt. He carefully chose his path, walking around a few rocky outcrops that extruded from the ground. He made his way to the plains, his pace was quickening as the ground grew softer.

Aircrest's eyes darted from side to side as he walked in the open, wondering what exactly laid beyond those trees. Would the Tyrannosaur really be after them after all the time that had passed? Surely it had other duties to tend to and two intruders would not be enough to draw its attention away from them. Ahead of the green and black raptor, the last of the forest gave way to sprawling plains. All he and the Rugops had to do was get out there, far away from the forest and they would be free of the giant that pursued them. What happened after that, he didn't think about...

As Crusher slowed down, nearing the edge of the forest, thoughts started to occur to him regarding his life. His family was out there....but out of his reach until he grew stronger. So close....yet so far. How he longed to return to the life he had so many years ago...to the peace and safety of his family...his mother and father standing beside him, his siblings bickering over who was the better hunter, tracker, predator, who knew the territory best, who made the best hunting plans, his grandparents watching on with that blend of amusement and pride that had so defined them. and then there was Ripper.....the missing piece of the picture, the part that had disappeared over the years and only now hinted at its own existence. The question was....if he had forgotten that.....how much else had faded into memory over the years? How much of his chickhood did he really remember?

The rugops made sure to tread carefully through the small pack of foliage before stepping into the beginnings of the large grass plain. He stopped for a moment, gazing across the plain. His eyes scanned for anything out of place, or mysterious. He looked to the raptor "last chance to think of another plan, if the rex is around and we are in that meadow we are completely defenseless."

"Not completely. You've shown that you've got a good pair of legs on you. That's your lifeline right there." Aircrest growled in a way that made it difficult to tell if he was joking or not. He stood in a crouch beside Diablo, his stomach low to the ground, his eyes panning across the open plain and the feeling of pressing lonesomeness returned. Except this time, he had the Rugops to be alone with. "Ready?" the green raptor barked as he prepared for the dash...

Steeltalon surprised herself with the sudden awareness of just how alone she had been since her family was murdered. The thought of being able to hunt with another raptor, even one she'd just met, tugged hard at her longing to feel part of a pack again, and she found herself nodding. "Sure," she growled.

Xanthe nodded, his own heart crying out for revenge in light of this new information. "They will," he growled. "One way or another, we'll see the day those fish-breathed scavengers are put in their place."
