Subject matter will be useful in that regard, yes" Ecliptor said, beginning to store the conversation in his own data banks. In addition to keeping tabs on the Asari, he would have his own findings to report to his fellow Seekers.

"I'm not helping you in any 'regard' until you guarantee my safety, whatever-your-name-is," Aria replied. "I'll give you one bit of organic advice: the saying, 'You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.' Basically, it means if you help me, I'll help you."

Aria rubbed her temples, frustrated. "Alright," she said through gritted teeth. "Let's start with something simple. What's your name?"

"This unit is regarded as this one. What is your own designation, blue one?" Ecliptor responded...

This one. Wonderful, Aria thought. Out loud, she said, "My name is Aria T'Loak. I am a member of a species called the Asari."

[C S]

"Asari. Noted." Ecliptor said, sensing that the discussion was coming to a close. He could not have that if he wished to keep aware of what Aria was up to. "What makes you the dominant member of your society?" the Seeker inquired, preparing to record additional information...

"In the particular community I am a part of," Aria explained. "I am simply better than all the rest. I'm smarter, a better fighter, and a more consummate survivor. I have been the... 'leader' of that space station for several hundred years. And you just stole me from it. .."

[C S]

"You wished to damage this one's ship. This one could not allow it. If removal was such a problem, the most effective solution would have been dying when shot at" Ecliptor argued while he checked his on-unit inventory. His chest plate slid apart, revealing his internal structure and a few crevices in his mechanical form where he had stored the fastenings he had undone. He would have to replace those panels soon to cover his used ambush locations. It would be very unfortunate to have the Asari learn to navigate by the irregular openings in the walls...

"You attempted to dock with my station without permission," Aria replied simply. "Had you announced your intention, we wouldn't be having this problem..."

[C S]

"This one's intention was to infiltrate. By not responding this one had done just that. You gave the order to dismantle the ship. Bad" Ecliptor explained.

"Infiltration requires subtlety, This One," Aria explained, slightly amused. "You were anything but subtle..."

[C S]

"This one was brought into the docking area. This one's presence was unknown until the moment of attack. Infiltration was a success" Ecliptor retorted. "And you are not this one. This unit is this one. To address this one you must use designation 'that one'." he added there after

"In the strictest terms, yes... for about five minutes," Aria said. "Not exactly a top-tier spy, are you?"

[C S]

"No. This one is an adept retrieval unit, however" Ecliptor replied. The ever present noise of the ship's engine abruptly ceased as Ecliptor shut the thrusters off. At this point the ship had enough momentum to drive it the rest of the way to 'Home', which, while still quite far off, the ship's velocity meant they would arrive soon enough...

"Your humor is improving," Aria said dryly. "Where the hell are we going, anyway?"

[C S]

"To the others" Ecliptor answered simplistically. He then went on to ask "What is hell? You say it a lot and there are obscure references to it in this one's archives"

"Very informative," Aria said sarcastically, rolling her eyes and guessing that the synthetic would probably take her seriously. "Hell is a term for the afterlife, where... 'bad' people go when they die, to suffer for all eternity or something." She shrugged. "Most people just use it as an... 'expletive,' as you probably know it."

"Such a rudimentary explanation. Perhaps you will find yourself there, eventually" Ecliptor replied curtly. He did not observe the irony of the situation.
