Paradox sighed. The taste of Oviraptor was okay; not as good as a Xiaosaurus, but it was enough to hold his hunger down for a while...

Shade could see a Tarbosaur and a Rex in the distance. She wondered what was going on, but she would not quarrel with such things. After all, this wasn't her business...

The mutant cocked its head, as if for a moment it was actually pondering the implications of the wounds. The moment was briefer than brief and the mutant had engaged once again, stepping forward and dropping into a low spin, its bladed tail audibly slicing through the air towards the Deinonychus...

The tarbosaur nodded. He knew all too well the... efficiency, one could say... of spinosaurs. The rex was right, and perhaps he was a fool to trek all this way, away from his territory. But Ba'al couldn't help but feel somewhat discomforted by the young tyrannosaur's rashness, and lack of caution.

"You may believe what you wish," Ba'al grumbled. "But I would keep a sharp eye out for yourself in the meantime. Your skills in combat, and your seeming hatred towards the Spinosaurs will most certainly catch the eyes of those unwelcome. Worse than a scavenger and an old Tarbosaur may be coming after you in curiosity, young one..... and with your lack of subtlety, I assure you, you will not go unnoticed for long."

Ba'al soon turned, and left the area, stomping into the udnerbrush, his heavy footfalls and deep footprints being the only sign of his presence....

Paradox snorted. Unable to sleep, he decided to go out in search of water. He needed to drink to restore his energy from the three things he had to kill in the past time...

Shade watched as the Tarbosaur walked off. Now uninterested, she walked towards the scent of an Abelisaur. She wondered what he was doing, as she could also smell the blood of several different dinosaurs on him...

Crusher snorted in acknowledgement as he saw the Tarbosaur depart. The second time in under an hour that he had been warned not to draw too much attention. It was like nobody realised he heard it the first time. Turning back towards where he had been, he took a sniff of the air, taking note of the scents lingering. True to the Tarbosaur's word, a Dilophosaur had been here, fairly recently too. But it didn't matter. Odds are, it'd be too frightened of its detection to continue the pursuit. This would likely be the last he heard, saw or smelt of it. With that in mind, the Tyrannosaur pressed onwards, making his way through the jungle away from the collective territories of the Spinosaurs...

Hellfire's eyes widened at the charge, the Deinonychus leaping sideways out of the way of the mutant. "Damn. Stubborn *******, aren't you?" he snorted, part amused, part disturbed, deciding to let the Raptor exhaust itself. Now that it could no longer breathe properly, and with it's lungs filling with blood, it would soon collapse. It said something though that it didn't seem to care that it couldn't breathe, or that it was dying. Broken beyond repair, both mentally and, thanks to his handiwork, physically...

Aircrest by now had gotten back to his feet, ignoring the pain in his side from where he hit the wall. He had his fair share of battling larger beasts, grappling to their hides and making the most of his claws and teeth. Didn't make it hurt any less when he took a hit himself. Especially when that hit was beyond what he was used to normally. In fact, it was his first true experience with mutant strength...and that only made him feel fortunate that it was only strength. Had he been slashed in any way by the disfigured monster, he doubted he would be leaving this place alive.

He made his move towards the concrete room towards the exit opposite where he and the Deinonychus had entered. He let out his pseudo-bird whistle as he closed in on it, calling for their departure; the monstrosity lunging for Hellfire even as its movements started to slow, the throaty gurgling and sluggishness showing the effects of the mutant's suffocation...

"And you'll both look funny with your heads in an ant nest," Cirrus muttered through a mouthful of dirt, which he spat out. He dug his toe claws into the dirt and kicked, trying to use his strength with the leverage to force Blade's legs to straighten a bit and let him up. "Jeez, you're heavy. What do you do, sit around all day eating rocks?"

"Thought you already knew that. I eat a boulder and a couple of especially fat lizards every morning" growled Blade sarcastically, adjusting his posture as Cirrus struggled, making sure he didn't lose balance...

Hellfire sidestepped a second time, before sprinting after Aircrest, leaving the dying Raptor behind. Powerful though it may be, that simply meant it spent more of what little energy it had left with each movement. Attempts to run him and Aircrest down were futile at this point...

"That was not a normal mutant," Aircrest stated, more so to himself than the Deinonychus which pulled up alongside him. "As if mutants themselves were anywhere near normal already!" he added. "Where the hell had it come from?" he thought. "From down the passageway, duh" was the answer to his own hopeless question. He didn't even know why he was thinking about it when getting out of the mutant lair was top priority!

"Maybe you should add a few of those bugs to that, so you're not always putting them on me and I can get a good rest," Cirrus growled, giving up with a sigh. He knew Blade would move when he was good and ready, and not before. "Comfortable up there?"

"Well usually when I do that I'm bored, not hungry" growled Blade with a snicker. Shifting his hips slightly, he smirked. "Very. You still grumpy, Grumpy?" he chirped with a grin, cocking his head as he looked down at the Allosaur...

"Why don't you contemplate the normalcy of the abnormal when we're not at risk of being torn apart?" hissed Hellfire, bafflingly calm despite the situation, as he tore down the hallway towards the scent of fresher air...

"You're a mutant too, aren't you?" Aircrest asked in response somewhat breathlessly, the pain in his side seeming to grow as he ran through the corridor. His observation wasn't one that came to him immediately since he had initially dismissed the Deinonychus, but over the course of this misadventure, the larger raptor had revealed a few traits held by the more ravenous of the island's inhabitants. Mental instability was yet to be seen, as fortunate or not as that may be. "Can't you strike a deal with your kin?" he said, a half-smile showing that the green raptor was joking though his tone did not change. Rarely did Aircrest find humor that wasn't derived from redirected misery.

"Probably could, though odds are neither side would stick to their end of the bargain. They'd still try and gut us, and I'd still try and mock them into gutting themselves the whole time" snorted Hellfire with a smirk as he ran. Indeed, his knowledge of mutant mentality was perhaps a bit too intimate...

"Hell, odds of an honest dino being out there is pretty low in itself, and I'm talking about the ones that aren't mutated..." Aircrest replied. Not too long after he slowed down, noting that the hallway was coming to an end. There were many other diverging routes and passages, but the way ahead concluded with a heavy, black steel door that was shut, oddly enough.

From behind, a harrowing wail of a mutant's call echoed along the concrete walls, a rallying cry for blood. That door had to be opened. Aircrest rushed over to it, the claws on his hands tapping against the metal as he applied all the strength he could muster against the circular mechanism that he had learned was the key to unblocking some paths. As expected, the valve-like lock refused to budge, forcing the raptor to position himself so that he was putting his weight behind the effort.

He bared his teeth and snarled with the strain, but the squeak and groan of metal sliding begrudgingly spurred him on...

Hellfire watched as the smaller Raptor worked the door's mechanism, taken by surprise. He didn't know that was how they worked. Turning to face the undoubtedly incoming predators, he hissed, eyes narrowing as his claws splayed widely, prepared to fight off the attackers until the escape was open...

"Oh common, you *******!" Aircrest hissed, his voice obscured by an especially loud grinding protest from the door. With so much possible entrances and only one exit, it seemed like this part of the facility was a literal death trap.

"The one that just had to be closed!" the green raptor thought bitterly.

A gruff panting filled the air, the sounds of claws scraping the floor following suit. They were coming. A lot them were coming...

"Depends. Are you still hyper as a hatchling?" Cirrus shot back, resting his chin on the ground and resigning himself to staying put.

As he spoke, Xanthe entered the clearing, looking troubled. The alpha male glanced around for his mate, spotted her, and made straight for her. She excused herself from the conversation with the sentry and moved to meet him, greeting him with a nuzzle. "What's wrong?" she asked, lowering her voice. "Other predators are pressing further into our territory," he murmured, glancing toward Blade, Cirrus, and Alira to make sure they were out of earshot. "They're so desperate for food that borders mean nothing to them...and they're driving out what prey remains here." He settled into a crouch, beckoning for Savarna to do the same. His expression darkened with worry and seriousness. He spoke slowly, choosing his words carefully. "We can't go on like this forever...and with things as they are, I doubt we'll find somewhere else that can support so large a pack." Savarna stared at him, wondering if he was suggesting what she thought he was. "You mean...you want to split the pack?" she asked. That was no small decision, and plenty of the members would be against it. Xanthe sighed softly and growled gently, "We knew it might come to this one day."

"Only as much as I need to be....have to make up for your grumpiness....Stop being grumpy, I stop being hyper" growled the Allosaur as he eyed the slightly older male with a wide-eyed grin...

Hellfire, meanwhile, started glancing around, desperate for an advantage. His eyes fell on a number of large pipes, some lining the walls, some on the ceiling, many of them hissing with steam. Getting an idea, the Deinonychus attacked the braces on the pipes along the walls, deafening CLANGs ringing out through the chamber as he struck them with brutally powerful kicks, the concrete holding the screws in place crumbling as rusty metal powder fell from the braces, finally shattering the braces entirely, the pipes breaking from a final kick, a loud hiss being heard that compounded as a cacophony of metallic bangs sounding out, pipes falling on other pipes, breaking more and kicking up a huge cloud of steam that obscured the vision in the room. Satisfied, the Deinonychus leapt upwards, latching onto a pipe hanging from the ceiling and waiting...The mutants would never see him coming...

"Sweet ******* Brachiosaurs in the swamp!" Aircrest swore mentally, shocked by the chorus of noise that had erupted, from rupturing pipes to hissing steam that made the hallway heat up uncomfortably quickly. It was like standing out in Death Valley when the sun was at its highest, bathing the dead land in blistering rays. The jolt was a stroke of serendipity though, as Aircrest threw the lock the rest of the way and the rusty door groaned as it swung open, the light of the outside world meeting the raptor's eyes. He blinked away before he got too good a look, his eyes still adapted to the dour underground...

A screech was heard as a Raptor leapt out of the cloud of steam at Aircrest, only to be intercepted from above, crushed under Hellfire's weight, neck broken before it even hit the ground, the Deinonychus's jaws letting go of the now dead Raptor's neck as he kicked off. "Less staring, more running!" barked the Deinonychus as he bolted for the exit...
