After a small bit more running, Twincrest slowed down and looked behind her. Good, the Tyrannosaur was leaving... If Twincrest could snicker like a human, she would have done so. Just as she had hoped, if not sooner than she had expected. After that last failed spying attempt, perhaps it would be best to report back to THrasher with what she knew... But first... Her stomach growling, she headed off in the direction of THrasher's territory... she needed to get some hunting done for herself first...

Xanthe and Savarna welcomed their offspring with affectionate nuzzles and traded an uncertain look. "Mama?" Alira growled tentatively, sounding much younger than she was as she curled up beside the white and red female's flank. "Will we be okay?"
Savarna automatically hid any misgivings she had as she looked down at her daughter and replied softly, "Of course we will, little one."
"Where are we going?" Cirrus directed his question at Xanthe.
"I'm not entirely sure, Cirrus," Xanthe growled honestly. "But we will know, when we get there."
Cirrus kicked at the half-buried rib of some small creature that had been eaten some time ago; the bone had since been bleached by time and the sun. "I don't want to leave," he muttered almost sulkily. He was surprised when Xanthe leaned down and gave him a gentle nuzzle.
"I don't either," Xanthe admitted. "But we don't have much of a choice."
A rustling at the edge of the clearing drew his attention to the return of the first hunting party. He hadn't expected to see them carrying much, but his hopes fell further when he saw that between them, they had brought back one two young Dryosaurs, probably barely old enough to keep up with their mother. The hunters seemed as disappointed as Xanthe as they dropped their small catch in the center of the clearing.
"There's barely a furball stirring out there," one of them growled. "But maybe the others will have better luck." Xanthe nodded, but didn't hold out much hope.

"This is no good," Silver growled softly.
Steeltalon turned to look at her questioningly. They were cautiously following a somewhat older game trail on the very edge of where they would normally venture. They hadn't claimed the area as their territory, exactly; the underground caves were too vast to explore fully, and there was no telling where any one path might lead. Still, it was home to them, for now.
"There's no fresh scent here, or even stale scent," Silver went on. "Nothing's been this way for a while. Nothing but us, anyway." She gently nudged a browning bracken frond with her muzzle, adding, "This is all dry. Let's go back and - "
Whatever the younger female was going to say was cut off with a startled yelp. The half-mutant turned just in time to see Silver jerk back from the undergrowth with a fairly large furball clinging to her face and chittering wildly in panic. The off-white raptor shook her head violently; unable to hold on, the furball went flying and landed hard in front of Steeltalon's clawed foot. The few seconds it took for it to recover were enough for her to pin its head to the ground and pierce its skull with a swift, smooth motion from her killing claw. She sniffed it curiously; it didn't look like any furball she'd come across before. Most were much smaller. This thing was covered in gray fuzz, with exception of its white head, and had a long, naked tail and dark eyes set in a narrow face.
"It - it fell on me," Silver explained, looking sheepish as she came closer.
"It fell on you? It's not raining furballs, is it?" Steeltalon growled, looking up instinctively, though she was scanning the trees rather than the sky.
"Of course not...though that might be a nice change of pace. Do you see any more?" Silver was focused on the dead one, nudging it with her muzzle. It might be enough to feed her, being smaller than Steeltalon, but it wouldn't feed both of them.
"A couple of smaller ones." Steeltalon cocked her head, perplexed. The little ones were hanging on to a tree branch with their tails. The black and white female stretched up on her toes, trying to get a better look, before padding over to stand under the little creatures. She tilted her head first one way, then the other, trying to make sense of what they were doing. Silver watched her, uncertain.
"Maybe we should leave them alone. They seem smarter than this one was," the younger female growled.
Steeltalon glanced back, but returned her gaze to the little furballs. They didn't seem so far above her....She flexed her legs experimentally, wondering if she could get a big enough jump to reach them.

It took some time -a lot of time- to circumvent the cliff and get on the other side of the rocks without going through the geothermal plant again. The last time the green raptor walked this barren land, it was scorching. Now; the cooling of the coming night was gripping Death Valley. A land of extreme highs and debilitating lows, this part of the island was.

The sun was but a faint glimmer far in the bare horizon, the last of its rays reaching up over the many rock formations and rises that punctuated the landscape. The first of the stars were at their heavenly seats.

"You want to see Ripper?" Aircrest growled to the Deinonychus finally, having made the trek in complete silence; completely blown away by the mutant's desire to meet the elder personally.

"He's roughly..." Aircrest scanned his rocky surroundings, then gesticulated with his snout to some random direction where a craggy obelisk of sandstone jutted from the dry ground. "in that direction. Just go ahead and keep going straight. If you reach the beach...well you went too far."

"Take me to Styx. Please. It's vital" growled Crusher to the female as he returned. "Oh no. Not until you tell me what the hell that was all about" responded the female firmly. Sighing, Crusher shook his head. "That Dilophosaur....has been tailing me since this morning, to my best guess. It had managed to keep itself downwind of me until now, so I didn't realise it was still following me. If my hunch is right, Thrasher sent it" he explained. "And why would Thrasher care about you?" asked the female with a raised brow. "...I've been raiding his borders for weeks now. Several of his allies have fallen to me. I've been whittling down his defences in hopes of calling him out and bringing him down" he explained. "Right. Assuming I believe it, would you also have me believe you're completely insane? Why would anyone pick a fight with that monster?!" asked the female incredulously. "He killed my family 19 years ago....The only survivors I know of...live here" explained Crusher, to the female's shock. "You're....You're Spectre's surviving son? Crusher?" she asked, to which the Rex nodded. A brief few moments of shock caught up with her, before she broke free of it with a quip. "Huh. Like father like son, then. Both crazy as they come" she growled with a snicker, before turning to lead the male into the territory. "Come on. I'll take you to Styx. She'll be very interested to learn about you. Name's Morphena, by the way. S'pose it's only fair I tell you considering I know yours" she added, as they headed off into the depths of the territory, the glow of long-gone sunlight finally disappearing from the horizon, bathing the island in total darkness...

"Yeah, sure. Suppose you're gonna tell me he'll welcome me when I rea-" questioned Hellfire, as the screech of an Allosaur reached their ears, Hellfire shifting his gaze towards the source just in time to see something black and grey shoot past, barking something like 'RUN' at them as it passed. And thus, the duo had encountered the Raptor known as Fatalis...and his entertainment for the day...which at that point in time skidded round a bend in the canyon wall, regaining its footing as it bolted at them, jaws wide and claws splayed, thoroughly intent on tearing apart whatever got in its way...

Aircrest arched a brow then looked to the source of the shrill noise. Feeling the faintest of the impact tremors at this distance from the Allosaur, the green raptor bared his teeth and growled irritably. What was an Allosaurus doing in a place as barren as Death Valley!? Was food really becoming that scarce elsewhere that the badlands were actually an option as hunting grounds; and raptors were actually prey items for things that couldn't dream of catching them?

"Hey! Shut up!" Aircrest barked in response to the charging predator. "Some of us might be trying to sleep, damn it!"

Another bellow echoed across Death Valley, answering the Allosaur's own: Bladetooth. The Rex, clearly not pleased that there was an interloper on his territory, stomped his way toward the source of the disturbance. He could smell the predator on the wind, as well as raptors, but they were of no concern to him. Raptors made temporary homes in Death Valley all the time, and the big Rex had grown tired of trying to chase them out. Stoneclaw and Howler were no good at it either, so Bladetooth resigned to letting the smaller carnivores roam where they may, as long as they didn't get in his way...

"HEY! MORON! YOU STILL LIVING IN THE *** END OF THE ISLAND?!" screeched Fatalis at the Rex as he charged at it, only to change direction at the last minute, shooting off to the side and around it, the Allosaurus to blinded by fury to care about the Tyrannosaur at the moment, wanting only to kill the Raptor, Hellfire kicking Aircrest out of the way and leaping out in the opposite direction just as it lunged, its jaws snapping where the pair of them were a split second earlier, though it didn't bother slowing down, wanting Fatalis's corpse torn apart too much to bother about the other two for now...

When Aircrest regained his footing amidst a low lying dust cloud, he turned around and barked to the orange and black dromaeosaur: "Hey, this might sound weird...but I think I've heard that voice before...what the hell is he doing around here?"

Bladetooth seemed completely ignorant of the insult, and charged the distracted Allosaurus head-on, considering it was heading straight at him. With a ferocious lunge, the Rex clamped its jaws down over the top of the Allo's skull as it bent down to snap at Fatalis, piercing the skin, muscle, and bone as if it were paper...

"That's great, kid, but I think we should be more worried about not dying at the moment than about why some insane Raptor's voice sounds familiar" hissed Hellfire as he watched the Allosaur, Raptor and Rex seem to close in on eachother...

The Allosaur's focus shifted just as the Rex made it's intentions obvious, the slightly smaller predator leaping at the Rex with several tons of force, throwing its balance off and threatening to kill it under their combined weight. Having a wider field of vision meant it wasn't as easy to take it by surprise as it would another Rex."Now THAT'S what I call ENTERTAINMENT!" screeched Fatalis several dozen feet away, skidding to a halt and admiring his handiwork...

"After what we just went through? Please; I think that raptor has the right idea. Lets watch the giants tear each other apart and walk away from whoever is limping away at the end." Aircrest retorted with a snort.

Bladetooth halted his attack, slowing to a stop as the Allosaurus hit him. The Rex braced himself and shook his body vigorously, dislodging his assailant before it could cause too much damage. Bladetooth stepped back and bellowed angrily, trying to scare the Allosaurus off...

A furious bellow came from the Allosaur, claws tinged red with the Rex's blood, dirt sticking to them as it backed away. Clusters of claw scars marred the Rex's face, neck and shoulders, and only luck kept the wounds from being more severe than they were. That Raptor had made the entirety of the day a waking nightmare for the Allosaur. It wouldn't rest until he was slain. Bladetooth didn't need to wait long to learn why the Allosaur was so enraged, as almost the moment he bellowed, a piercing pain tore up his left leg, Fatalis having dashed past to slash at his ankle, sprinting away before he could move to stop the seemingly insane Velociraptor, the Allosaur quickly tossing the Rex's threat aside as Fatalis bolted past, back the direction he came, charging after him, leaving the Rex behind...

Bladetooth was caught off-guard by the attack, staggering to the side and shaking his foot, snorting furiously. Upon seeing the Allosaur retreat to pursue Fatalis, Bladetooth roared one last time for good measure, then shook his scratched head, annoyed at the stinging more than he was pained by it. He stood still, watching the Allosaurus leave, making sure it wouldn't return...

Aircrest blinked a few times, giving the path of destruction a wide berth; the raptor shooting past with the Allosaur in tow as well as its unbridled ire.

"I'm telling you, I saw him somewhere before. Just don't know where..." Aircrest growled to the Deinonychus after the noise and confusion bowled past, leaving dust to waft in the wind.

Almost mid-bolt, the Raptor skidded to a halt, turning on the charging Allosaur and cackling madly. "All I did was ruin 8 of your hunts....and **** on your food twice!" barked the Raptor as the Allosaur dove at him, Fatalis leaping to the side with shocking agility, the Allosaur's jaws snapping shut where he had been, snarling angrily as it felt the sensation of claws tearing at it's flank. "And on your tongue. Shoulda kept that in your mouth if you wanted it to stay clean!" added Fatalis as the Allosaur threw itself sideways at a wall, Fatalis simply scrambling along its stomach and climbing up it's other side. "You know, at this rate maybe you'll actually manage to kill something....Pfft, who am I kidding? you couldn't kill YOURSELF, let alone ME!" snorted the Raptor as he kicked at the Allosaur's neck, leaving a long bleeding gash, only shallow enough to sting. The Allosaur screeched as it went into a frenzy, thrashing wildly as Fatalis was thrown from its shoulder, hitting the floor and rolling, bolting instantly back towards Bladetooth, a sickly satisfied smirk on his face as he raced past the Raptor and Deinonychus once more, the rampaging Allosaur bolting after him...

"Pfft. And we thought the mutants were insane. They have nothing on this guy" snorted Hellfire as he eyed the clearly mad Raptor...

"Who said he isn't one?" Aircrest asked rhetorically. "And beyond that; you're a mutant too. You don't seem too bad. For the most part, that is. What's your name anyway?"

"Nothing like wandering around with a complete stranger for a few hours..." he thought once it had dawned on him that asking for the Deinonychus' name hadn't crossed his mind until now.

Bladetooth was slightly confused at the events going on, quickly realizing that his territory wasn't exactly being "invaded." With a snort, he stayed still, simply watching the raptor and Allosaurus charge back at him...

Just as they closed in on the Rex, Fatalis gave a massive burst in energy, bolting forward at a shocking speed, leaping and rolling between the Rex's legs as the Allosaur screeched, diving and slamming into the Rex with enough force to knock it over, as Fatalis cackled madly behind them...

"Hellfire. Yours?" hissed the Deinonychus as he watched on, utterly confused by the situation unfolding before him. He couldn't comprehend how a Raptor would willingly torment a large predator that much. It boggled the mind just thinking about it...

Bladetooth had braced himself yet again, sidestepping before the Allosaurus reached him, then lunging back the way he came, smashing into the smaller carnivore and knocking it off-course, though not quite knocking the Allo over...
