"Holy...****...." was all Jake could say as he walked into the small, damaged cottage. black flames continued to burn away at a corpse in the corner, the rest of the room blackened, the wood that once covered the ground merely ash. he walked onto another room, seeing a couple of skeletonised corpses still burning where they had been sitting, never having left the living room chairs.
He walked further onwards, turning right into a garden room, the glass that once allowed the residents to look at what had once been a magnificent garden, shattered, small pieces of glass all over the floor just outside the garden room, a melted pile of still burning plastic the only remains of what must've been a kid's toy. "good god...." he said as he found the owner of the toy. a charred, partially rotten child laying in a small chair, a blackened story book on the ground at it's feet, the child's arm having disintigrated from the heat ages ago, only one arm present on the body. the kid could hardly have been more than 6 years old, and a couple of shimmering objects in it's ears, or rather, the remains of them, indicated it would've been a girl in life. Jake looked away, not being able to look at it anymore, instead leaving the Garden Room into the dining room he had entered originally, only just noticing a burnt piano in the corner, across from the flames he had spotted when he first entered. he continued walking into the kitchen which was connected to the dining room, andreaching for the fridge. he pulled at the door, which fell off, various half melted tins of food and bottles of water the only edible stuff available in the fridge. he looked around, spotting a melted kettle in the corner, sighing. it wasn't gonna do them any good. there was a massive hole and debris in the middle of the counters along the far wall, across from the door to the kitchen, most likely the result of the propane gas cylinders exploding from the heat, blowing the oven and stove apart. it also explained why there was a severely twisted grill twisted into the water taps to his right. he went for the sink, and opened the small cupboard under it, finding what he wanted. a pack of black rubbish bags. it had been in the corner of the cupboard, where, remarkably, it had managed to escape the flames that still burned elsewhere in the house. he dragged some out, opening a bag and going over to the fridge, taking everything that would help him and the others. when he was done, he walked out, leaving the corpses to rest in peace.
"Any luck Jake? all the houses we went through were just wrecked. we couldn't get past most of the wreckage, and where we could, there was nothing useful" said Mike, Jake simply grunting, still utterly horrified over what he had seen in the house. he put the bag in the boot of the truck, and then got back in, noticing he and Max had similarly shocked expressions. just as Mike got into the car, one of the houses exploded violently in a plume of black flames, a rattling, screeching, booming roar that bordered on undescribable, the sound of it sending chills down the spines of all three of them. "FLOOR IT!" yelled Mike, Max hesitating for a moment in fear before turning the ignition and complying, the SUT lurching forward as they launched themselves out of the village, a church visible at the end of the village, another explosion going off as it caved in on itself. "Oh my god! LOOK OUT!" yelled Mike as the bell landed not far from the vehicle, Max having to veer out of the way, barely avoiding it. a pair of flaring red spots could be seen within the blackish flames and smoke, another roar coming from the creature as the three literally flew out of the village, a steep hill at the end of it, meaning the car shot down it at high speed, heading for the coast...

"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
