Small pinpoints of blue appeared, growing larger as they grew closer to the scout pod, revealing themselves to be plasma spheres, arcing from the planet the scout pod was heading towards...

The scout pod lazily changed course, evading the plasma shots as it would other space debris, moving well in time. It rocketed towards the planet, slowing again as it neared it's orbit, from close to the speed of light back to more manageable speeds.

The plasma, while slow, suddenly increased in volume when the scout pod drew nearer, making it that much harder to dodge the bombardment. However, the plasma seemed localized, only coming from a large, mostly flat and barren plain bordered by a small mountain range...

The scout pod changed course, moving perpendicularly to the planet's surface, changing direction as it did so. The pod's eyes fearfully eyeing the surface of the planet and the volume of anti-orbital firing coming from it...

The bombardment continued, and it appeared quite intent on staying that way until the scout pod landed, crashed or otherwise...

Serephir leapt in a flip, dodging the spray of blood and landing on the creature's back, jamming his blade down into it's torso, pushing downwards, the blade ripping through the Praetorian's body to the hilt, cleaving easily through it and out the other side, imbedding the end of the blade in the ground, Serephir flipping off and shooting the Praetorian in the face with the handgun while it was pinned, a flash of whitish energy visible as the round detonated on impact...

The pod suddenly took a dive, plunging into the planet's atmosphere, fire engulfing it. The outter layer of the pod peeled off, leaving the spore beneath hurtling along through the skies, having been blinded during entry, the pod wasn't able to continue dodging the plasma reliably, one of the gargantuan blue orbs clipping the spore, setting it's flank a light and causing it to spiral wildly towards the ground, the spore curling off course and smashing heavily into a mountain side, throwing dust into the air....

The plasma bombardment stopped, and nothing seemed to happen as the dust settled at the crash site...

As the Praetorian collapsed, the rest of the Xenomorphs seemed to stop, as if confused as to what was going on. Suddenly, they attacked again, but focused only on whatever was closest to them, which was mostly each other. Lissarkh, who had recovered by then, grabbed Serephir by the arm and shouted, "Get your men and let's get the hell out of here!"

What remained of the spore took in it's surroundings, tasting the alien air and combing through it for the scent of any organism nearby. Searching for disturbances, trying to detect movement. The Scout remained motionless within the Spore, bonding with the various augmentals it would need to live on this planet.

Serephir drew his sword free, the acidic blood running down the blade harmlessly, pooling on the ground once it ran off the blade completely, Serephir sheathing the weapon as the order reached the soldiers, the group pulling out...

As the group retreated deeper down the tunnel, the Xenos turned their attention on each other completely, ignoring the fleeing intruders...

Huka was furious. His Skirmishers, keeping their distance, were forced to use a number of Plasma Grenades to wipe out the serpents before they caused too much damage. The Sangheili angrily put a Needle Rifle round into one of the creatures' heads, killing it instantly. Staring down the tunnel where the human vermin had fled, he snarled, "Keep moving. The Yanme'e will keep them pinned. They have nowhere else to go..."

After a relatively long while, a single life sign began closing on the fallen scout pod, hidden safely underground as the entity burrowed closer...

The scout pod shuddered, beginning to die, the scout inside detaching itself from it's host. A scythed claw punctured through the top of the pod, slicing it open, other claws pushing out through the gap and ripping a tear open in the pod's side. Black fire, a Raka-anra scout, pulled herself out, various liquids draining off her carapace. The scout shuddered, all four wings extending and buzzing once, the alien warming herself up. The scout's natural colours changed suddenly to match the dusty rock surrounding it, the bee leaping to the side with an agile movement before clinging to the underside of an over hanging rock, hanging motionlessly....

In a small explosion of dirt, a Tiger Big emerged near the scout pod. Forelegs twitching curiously, the car-sized insect skittered closer to the pod, examining it carefully with its small, almost vestigial eyes. Deciding that the thing would make better food than anything, the Tiger Bug grabbed ahold of the pod with its mandibles and began to drag it away, back into the hole it had made...

The scout twitched momentarily, small insect ejecting out of a spore on her shoulder, the wasp-dart augmental. The bug wheeled around the air lazily for a moment before locking onto the alien life form in front of it. It's thorax suddenly lit up and exploded, firing what was left of the bug into the alien's hide, penetrating in and delivering it's payload of nuero toxin.

Paralysis was the best way to ensure she could examine it thoroughly.

The Tiger Bug screeched and dropped the scout pod. Flailing madly, the Arachnid eventually collapsed in a heap as the neurotoxin began to take effect...

The Scout dropped down, landing onto 4 legs, standing tall, her fore limbs raised ready. She crept across the the fallen alien, she was around it's size, a smaller in actual body mass though. She pounced the last meter, just in case, slamming her claws down onto it, and pinning it to the ground. the alien didn't move. She pulled it closer, twisting it before suddenly stabbing it with her internal probocsis, the spike like mouth stabbing through the hide, probing the creature, providing the scout with a wealth of information in the process...

Soon enough, Lissarkh and Serephir's group ran around a sharp corner and into a dead end. Lissarkh moved closer to the wall that blocked their way and hissed, "Keep the Covenant busy. I need to focus." She stood straight, eyes closed hands stretched, palm-out, towards the wall...

The ominous buzzing of incoming Drones echoed through the tunnel, and one was brave enough to fly around the corner, firing its Plasma Pistol at the group...

The Tiger Bug twitched spasmodically, but the creature didn't move much further than that...

The scout finished, processing the information she'd just uncovered, about the alien's hive, about it's diet, even having discerned some of it's behavior. She stabbed the comatose creature with her stinger, injecting in several eggs before taking to the sky, her wings buzzing with a sound more a kin to that of a helicopter She began circling the area, higher and higher, scanning her surroundings, while also keeping an eye on the 'Tiger Bug' below.

Apparently, the Arachnids had noticed the Tiger Bug's unusually extended absence, and a small group of Arachnid Warriors scurried across the barren plain, the only obvious thing about them being a cloud of dust they kicked up from the dead earth...

a booming sound was heard as Serephir fired his sidearm at the creature, the round exploding on impact, blowing the drone apart, as the rest of the men proceeded to open fire on the incoming drones as they appeared...
