Nguvu turned towards the cave again, ascending the little slope to the entrance and walking in, walking over to his usual spot in a shadowy corner of the cave, a wide yawn escaping the lion as he lay down...

Night and Lusa were curled together at the very back of the cave, but it was clear the little pup wasn't asleep when her amber eyes flickered open. She got up as carefully as she could and padded over to Uzuri, who was stretching out in a position where she could see out of the cave and look out over the jungle. It was a very peaceful scene...she could understand why Night lived here, with the night-sounds around her and the moon and stars high overhead. Lusa sat down beside the white lioness. The black wolf was unusually subdued as she growled, "You guys are leaving soon, aren't you?" Surprised, Uzuri stared at the pup for a minute before replying, "Yes, little one. As much fun as it is to play with you, we have other places to be." Lusa sighed. She didn't look very happy, her ears lowered and gaze somber. Uzuri gave her a nuzzle, murmuring, "We'll be back someday. Probably sooner than you think."

Lusa turned to look hopefully at Nightbane. "Will you?" she asked, almost pleadingly.

"Definately. i love this place too much to stay away for too long" he growled with a smile as he glanced towards Uzuri. "And judging by what i've gathered, so does Uzuri" he added...

Amani slowly lumbered into the cave, and fell down, half asleep as she watched Uzuri, Nguvu, and Lusa having a small conversation. "Hey guys," she growled, yawning in mid sentance, passing out soon after from tiring herself out from running around up and down the cliff nearby the cave.

Lusa's tail wagged at the lion's words, the young wolf looking distinctly happier. Uzuri gave the pup a smile and a nudge. "Go and get some rest now, Lusa," she growled affectionately. "You've had a long day." "But..." Lusa interrupted herself with a huge yawn. "'m not tired..." she finished with a sleepy sigh. Uzuri chuckled, nudging Lusa towards Night again. This time the pup obeyed, staggering over to her caregiver and curled back into the shelter of the white wolf's flank.

"Someone's been busy, it seems" rumbled Nguvu with a chuckle as he eyed Amani, watching her fall asleep. he rested his head, closing his eyes, his mind moving to what they'd have to do when they woke...

Jino walked up to a large cave entrance in the mountainside, the stench of death coming strongly from within. "Kuruk! Hey Kuruk! Big guy!" growled Jino as he stood at the entrance. "Probably asleep" growled Kubwa when no answer came. "Maybe. Why don't you go check it out?" growled Jino, the comment coming off as more of an order than a question. "How about no? I have no intention of having my head torn off by a tired, angry bear" responded Kubwa, unamused. "Hey, don't look at it so bad! could be food in there!" growled Jino in response, Kubwa barely managing to hide his piqued attention at the word, the large lion managing to maintain the unamused look on his face. "Yeah. that'll be the last idiot who went in and woke him up, i'll bet" growled Kubwa. "Fine, fine we'll wai-" started Jino as a loud echoing roar came from within the cave, the reflection of a single eye glinting in the dark, the eye itself held very high off the ground, easily a foot above Jino and Kubwa's heads. out of the shadows came a massive, dark furred brown bear. a kodiak bear. the fur on it's back was fading to grey, and it's face was covered in scars. a diagonal slash went across the bear's right eye, stopping at his nose, the bear blinded in that eye, a milky grey eye gazing eternally at nothingness. the bear reared up and let out another rumbling roar, before looking down at the two lions. "How dare you wake me, lions?" snarled the bear as it looked down, it's muzzle soaked in blood, it's claws the same. "W-w-we....we've come t-t-to tell you....It's t-t-t-time to repay your d-d-debt to Shadow" stuttered Jino fearfully. "Is that so?" rumbled Kuruk, eye narrowing on the lion as he descended, the front paws hitting the ground creating an audible thump, the bear lowering his head till it was inches from Jino's. "And what....does Shadow want of me?" rumbled the bear. "H....he...he wants you to help us......kill someone" growled Jino. the bear smirked malevolently, the mere sight of it sending chills down Jino's spine, Kubwa keeping silent, though even he was intimidated by the massive creature. "And why....do you need me? Why can't you kill this 'someone' yourself?" growled the bear. "It's a lion.....a powerful one....and two lionesses....we can't handle them alone.....and Shadow has to watch over the pride" responded Jino, his massive teeth giving the impression he was smirking. "Do you mock me, Cat?" rumbled Kuruk as he eyed the lion's smirking face, Jino's eyes widening as he tried his best to hide his fangs. "No! no no no, Kuruk....i'm not mocking you...i'd never mock you" answered Jino as the bear rose one massive paw, putting it under the lion's chin and lifting it up so he would face the bear directly. "This lion...where is he?" rumbled the bear, ignoring the lion's words. "We're gonna track him down. he's in the jungle, heading for the grasslands beyond" responded Jino fearfully. "Well then...Let us get moving, then" rumbled the bear as he eyed the two lions. "Lead me to them" snarled the massive kodiak bear, Jino almost jumping at the bear's snarl, before turning and heading forwards with Kubwa towards the spot they picked up Nguvu's scent a while back...

Uzuri smiled, resting her chin as her eyes drifted closed. Behind her, Night curled tighter around the pup she'd taken in, and Lusa finally found herself falling asleep.

several hours later, Nguvu rose, yawning widely. glancing around, and out of the cave entrance, he realised he probably had an hour before dawn. getting to his feet, the lion walked over to Uzuri, giving her a gentle nudge. "Time to go" he growled, before walking over to Amani, nudging her and growling "let's get moving"...

Uzuri stretched, yawning. She glanced at the still-sleeping wolves, seeing the gleam of a half-open blue eye. The eye closed a second later.

Amani woke up, seeing Nguvu looking down at her. "Let's go," rumbled Amani, yawning shortly afterwards. As she got up, she did a quick stretch, popping a few bones, causing them to loosen up. "Ah. I feel so much better now," the lioness growled, starting to tread to the cave entrance.

Nguvu headed out, walking towards the edge of the jungle...

Uzuri padded at Nguvu's shoulder, her head high as she breathed in the dew-scented predawn air. It seemed like it was going to be a good day for traveling.

Amani kept close behind Uzuri and Nguvu, cautously looking around the area, to be sure no other predators were nearby the cave. She glanced back at the cave one last time, before sighing under her own breath, feeling a little saddened that she was leaving Lusa, who started to feel like she was Amani's own cub. "I'll be back, Lusa," Amani thought to herself, continuing behind Nguvu and Uzuri.

Nguvu upped his pace a bit. the jungle was massive, and it'd take a couple of hours at least to get to the other side, even if he cut through the fastest route to the other end...

after a considerable amount of time, the trio reached the edge of the jungle, the trees beginning to thin, the grasslands beyond resembling flames in the orange early morning light. "I hope the male of this pride doesn't turn out to be another Manderius....I at least want to see my family and be sure they're ok before being driven out" he growled as he walked, searching the air for scents. he also did what he could to remember what his father had taught him about territory location, hoping to see a pattern. knowing his mother, she'd make sure the pride followed those rules regardless of a leader....

"the scent's getting strong. really strong" growled Kuruk as he ambled towards the cave, eyes narrowed. "Hey Nguvu! Shadow told us to come find you! we gotta tell ya something!" roared Jino as he neared the cave entrance, Kubwa walking forward ahead of his brother to investigate, doing so to give him a chance to try and disable or at least impede Jino when Nguvu came out, to give him a fighting chance...

Night, fully woken by the roaring, opened her eyes. The fur along her spine bristled and she pushed Lusa into the darkest shadow she could find. With her white coat she couldn't hope to hide like the pup could. She pulled her tail close to her side, kept her head down and her ears flattened, trying to make her form as shapeless as possible. She could smell unfamiliar lions...and the unmistakable scent of a bear.

Lusa instinctively flattened herself further, keeping her eyes tightly closed and biting her tongue to keep herself quiet, no matter how badly she wanted to ask what was going on.

"Nguvu, is it okay if I go back real fast and check on Lusa and Night before we fully leave here?" rumbled Amani, wanting to go back and check up on the little pup and her mother. She looked back at the jungle one last time, before glancing over to Nightbane, waiting for a response from him...

"Helloooo....Nguvuuuu...we know you're in there....come on! Is that any way to treat your own brothers?" growled Jino, taking another step forward...

"We're too far away, Amani. It'd take you an hour to get there at least. Don't worry. Night and Lusa are nothing if not resilient. they'll be fine if we're gone for a day or two" growled Nguvu reassuringly...

In response, Night let out a furious snarl, followed by a long, low howl. She rose to her full height and let out a second, louder snarl. She was a wolf protecting her den, and the pup that she'd taken in. If the intruders came any closer, they'd find out just how dangerous a protective mother could be.

"I guess your right, Nguvu..." growled Amani, glancing back to the jungle. "I hope nothing happens to those two wolves," the lioness thought to herself, still looking at the jungle. "Ok, let's go look for your old pride, Nightbane..." Amani rumbled, keeping close behind Nguvu and her sister.

Jino took a step back, not expecting an answer like that. Kubwa also backed away, seeing no response from Nguvu, but instead a wolf. the bear chuckled lowly. "A wolf....I like wolves" rumbled the bear as he walked forward, each stride causing an eerie scraping sound as his claws raked along the ground, the bear's snarl getting louder as he entered the cave, rearing onto his hind legs...

Nguvu walked onwards, seeing a rise in the terrain ahead. a hill. it'd help him spot potential signs more easily. he moved forward, upping his pace, the hill being some distance away...
