just as Fury was recovering from the first mock lunge, Crusher made a second, swinging his head into the Rex's face, knocking the challenger's head sideways, fangs bared, expecting a counter attack...
"Wow" growled Serena, looking around at the structure. unlike the fairly intact structures in NYC, the lab had vines growing thickly on the walls and ceilings. in one corner of the main entrance hall, a large tree had grown, it's branches punching out of the old glass windows that made up a large portion of the wall, a couple of branches intertwining to completely block off one of the hallways on the first floor. the winding metallic staircases to either side of the room were also heavily overgrown. the skeletal remains of a dead raptor lay on the ground, though a very old smeared blood trail led to one of the windows, the jagged edges of the glass still tinted a dull copper brown from the dried fluid. the Raptor was layed to rest on it's side, curled up, as a Raptor would in it's sleep. she gazed at it for a few moments, wondering who it had been. "My brother" growled Ripper, almost as if he knew what she was thinking. she looked back at the raptor, perched on one of the poles forming the ground floor base for the railings on the stairs, looking down at her quietly. "He was the first to go down after the humans finally lost control. I owe my life to him. he had knocked me through that opening just as the humans attacked him. the damage caused made him weak. too weak to jump through after me. he fell on the jagged edge of the opening and died from the injury. after the humans were killed and chased off, i came back and moved him. I didn't think he'd want to be seen in that state of weakness. he liked his sleep, so i put him in a position where he'd be comfortable sleeping forever" hissed the Elder sadly as he leapt off the pole, walking up the stairs, his claws making faint clinking sounds on contact with the metallic stairs. Serena, curious, followed him...
"Yeah. I need you four to stick together down here while i get Renegade. I seriously doubt there'll be trouble, but if there is any, call out. I'll get back as fast as i can" he growled as he ascended. out of the den...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
