"For example," Tetto'eko hissed, taking the necklace from his staff, "the Stegadon, as well as just about everything else in those jungles, is capable of killing you in one way or another. Only the Lizardmen are able to tame the beasts of the jungle."

The still night was suddenly shaken by a loud rumbling. Desrium was pulled back to reality, sitting up and turning his head. He saw a dust cloud, shimmering under the moon light rising up from the mountains behind him, the distant crumbling of rocks audible. The mountain was collapsing upon itself? When the dust cleared, the armored figure could make out small moving shapes. People- workers- tending to something. Something huge. Desrium large wooden scafolds bracing against something. He thought it was some weird shaped rock formation, but when he saw the thing slide along, taking the restraint with it, he knew that was not the case. There was a giant breaking through the very mountain range in the distance. It's long body was covered in a black shell that dully reflected the silver shine of the moon. Workers moved along side it, barking orders at each other and moving rocks away in carts that ran along tracks. Tracks that were actually attached to the creature's wooden bindings. It was a strange sight. A few moments later there was another loud rumble, rocks near the mountain's base simply falling apart. Most of the scene was obscured by another dust cloud. Desrium got to his feet, taking a minute to stretch out his body and loosen stiff joints. Afterwards, he started to head back towards the woods. His time there was peaceful. His time amongst the wild was without bother and easy going. The world of man was too noisy, with too much preconceptions of what the norm was. What you looked like, how much money you carried with you- it was all material. It meant nothing- a shallow existance. When he was in the woods, he felt like there was more...that he could reach for something and find something deeper to live for. That was what he wanted to reclaim, and he'd start by finding a quiet place to sleep under the shade of its trees

The shadowreaver seems to look longingly at the humans before slinking back into the shadows, disheartened.... all it wanted was to be understood again......

As the little one leaves, the others slink out, letting out low snarls........

"Indeed... After hearing that little bit, I am very surprised that my father managed to get that necklace at all, let alone survive there. However, he did tell me how he managed to survive that trip even with the threat of Stegodons..." Lamia spoke, her eyes gently glazed over, as if in death...

The guards raised up their crossbows, ready to fire incase the strange creatures attacked them...

They all lunge forward at once in an attempt to keep the soldiers from killing them all......

the little shadowreaver disappears into a hole hidden under a tree trunk. Perhaps it will get another chance to make friends....... if only there were more black magicians in the world.....

Tetto'eko chuckled. "You're father is an... interesting man. A bit foolish, if I may be so bold as to say, but brave, at least. Few warmbloods ever venture into Lustria, and usually only to pillage the temples of the Lizardmen. We are not... very hospitable to your kind for that reason..."

By this time the two unicorns were again tired from galloping a long way from their homeland. They were now traveling through a forest. Their paces were slowed to a walk. Both of the magical equines took in the sound of avian critters and the natural rustling of trees. Revion took in a fresh breath of air and ncikered approvingly. "Ah, this is nice, no?" He turned to look at Serenity, who was silent, and observant. "It is different from the valley, yet more beautiful," he added.

Serenity just nodded, and continued looking around. "Mmm yes, but we must be careful," she nickered softly. "We still do not know what could be in these strange parts."

Revion rolled his eyes. "You worry too much. You need to relax." He snorted, and shook his head at the filly's cautious behavior. "Lighten up a little!"

The white two year old shook her head. "Sure, sure whatever you say, stallion," she retorted.

"Define 'warmblood' if you don't mind. my current understanding puts even me in that catagory" rumbled the Dragon curiously...

Tetto'eko paced back and forth as he explained. "It's a bit of a... general term, I admit. It mostly means humans, though it can extend to other creatures. It is used for most outsiders that enter the Lizardmen's realm..."

Septimus chuckled. raising a claw, he pricked his own skin, a glow forming around the wound as what looked like white hot magma formed a small spot on the surface, before dropping to the ground, a furious hiss of burning being heard as the scorching hot drop of what turned out being blood, burned a 2 inch deep hole in the ground, as Septimus' claws shimmered white for a moment, the small incision sealing itself, reversing the magic done to bypass the Dragon's thick hide. "Hence my confusion" he growled with a smirk as he eyed the two...

Tetto'eko made a chattering laugh. "Ah, the wonders of the outside world!" He shook his head with a sad smile. "If only the rest of my kind could see this place..."

The guards opene fire upon the strange creatures, their crossbow arrows slicing through the shadowreaver's bodys like a knife through hot butter...

"Yeah... I've heard that Stegodons are very, very fierce creatures that have amlost no natural predators. The only way my father managed to avoid getting himself killed by them was by imitating the roar of the Akantierus, one of the most powerful monsters in Aster... He told me that everytime aStedogon heard the roar, they'd get very worried and flee the area, asap... " Lamia chuckled, though very intrested with Septimus's mgma-like blood....

The shadowreavers are hurt, but not fatally. They all hiss before slithering into the shadows, streaks of purple blood painting the night......

"He imitated a roar?" Tetto'eko replied skeptically. "You're pushing what I can believe, friend," he added, chuckling.

The guards, breathing heavily from fright, began to head back the way they came, their eyes darting left and right no make sure they weren't being followed. What had started out as jus a simple 'Capture the dragon" mission had turned into a bloodbath, and with two of their members dead and the captain unconcious and probably in the horse stall by now, they weren't going to be heading down this route ever again... or atleast, that was what they hoped...

"I know it sounds sorta rediculous, but my father was able to imitate the roar of the Akantierus very well. All he had to do was clear his throat, form a cup with his hands around his mouth, and let it out. Just ask some of the stalls people around here... They'll agree with me, since they all know my father..." Lamia smirked, knowing that what she said was true indeed...

"Whatever you say, Lamia my dear," Tetto'eko replied. "Tell me, what is an Akantierus? I have never seen such a creature before."

After the shadowreavers leave, only the sounds of the guard's heavy breathing and the noise of animals in the forest are heard. Wolves howling and owl hoots are heard in chorus, with the occasional roar off in the distance.....

Septimus' eyes glowed for a moment as a book floated out of one of the satchels, landing into an open hand, as he sat on his haunches, his tail curling around him to provide support as the Dragon used his claws and a tiny bit of magic to help him sift through the pages of the book; Monsters of Aster, in search of details on the Akanteirus...

"The Akantierus... is a truly frightening monster, one not native to Aster..." Lamia began, before wiping some dust from her right eye. "THey're quadropedal, tusked carnivores that are very territorial. They're a muddy-brown color with green spots, and they have a large, boney frill around the back of their heads that they can extend at will. They're tails are clawed, and have long, deadly spikes on them. THey are THE dominant apex predator in Germania, and in the rest of Aster, I think they have few rivals in power or ferocity..."

"And yet they have been encountered in Lustria?" Tetto'eko asked. "I certainly never saw one in my time as a... well, a Priest, for lack of a better term."
