'Little one,' Aviva said after a while of companionable silence between them. Arsenic cocked his head curiously. 'Yes?' She seemed to choose her words very carefully as she went on, 'Would you permit me a visit to my home, even if that meant I couldn't accompany you on your next hunt?' He ran a gentle hand over the scales on the side of her neck. 'I wouldn't dream of stopping you,' he said. 'I know you miss your home and friends - I can feel it like a lingering ache in your mind. Would you leave as soon as you left me with Vix?' She hesitated. He could feel her relief and gratitude, but also that she was afraid that if she left him he would get into a mess he wouldn't be able to escape alone. '...Yes. I'm truly sorry little one. I know you would prefer I rest, but I feel I cannot wait.' He stroked her neck again, reassuringly. 'Don't worry. I'll explain to her where you're going and that you'll be there for a while.' Warmth seeped through their mental connection, and he smiled. They were silent again, each wrapped up in their own thoughts.
