"That, my friend, is what fire is for" rumbled Septimus with a chuckle. "But alright. If you insist on walking through this death trap, then that's what we'll do. Just don't complain if i end up killing half the swamp's inhabitants before we reach the other side" he added...

"As long as we don't die in the process," Tetto'eko remarked drily, tightening his grip on Septimus' back expectantly...

The dragon sighed as he took a stride in the water, a telepathic field being raised around him, to sense what was around him. it would allow him to remotely scare off the attackers, if they came. after they started feeling as though their heads would explode from the pressure, he was sure they'd get the picture and leave him alone....or die horribly if they didn't...

The life signs Septimus detected telepathically were almost overwhelming to his senses, and it almost seemed the water itself was alive. However, nothing moved in the swamp at first...

'If we follow the path of the sunrise...keep going South East...' Arsenic said, cocking his head and taking a long look at their surroundings, trying to judge if this was the way he'd come from. He brightened a bit when he spotted a familiar looking weathered boulder. He remembered thinking its resemblance to a bear striking as he breezed past. 'I think we'll be there soon.'

The servant rode his horse at a decent pace down the road. He was in no rush; he jsut wanted to take in the country before going to the place, enjoying the journey in case it was his last...

"Excellent. Ever closer to the decision that will change my life" responded Andruil with humoured enthusiasm. though beneath the humour, the man was torn. was this really the future he wanted? from a noble Knight of the Silver Order, among the most respected people in all of Valenhad...to an assassin? Ah, but must a man be noble to do great things? one man's assassin is another man's saviour....you of all people know that, Andruil. that traitor....Krukev...his horrified face was burned into Andruil's memory....as were the last words he spoke. 'My family will hunt you to the ends of the earth....murderer'...His response had been simple. 'One man's murderer is another one's saviour. If a murderer is what you call a man defending his nation....then i am a murderer....and carry the title with pride. but a traitor to his own family...there is no pride...no dignity in that'. and with that, Andruil's mind was set...

A low rumble reverberated in Septimus' throat as he moved. he didn't like this. with a skink on his back, he couldn't make full use of his swimming abilities...and in the water, he wasn't as manoeuvrable as he was in the air. with this many potential threats, it was tempting to just leap up and electrify the water. though he knew that with so many animals and such a vast space, he'd only end up tiring himself out. it would only buy him a few moments while the surviving ones 5-10 feet out took the place of the dead ones...

'Indeed,' Arsenic said, amused. He himself was wondering what Vix would say after she got through with ranting at him. The auburn-haired woman probably wouldn't be very happy to hear he'd stepped in the hornet's nest. Then again, she might just be grateful to Andril for saving him....thoughtful, the elf drummed his fingers on the dagger strapped to his hip.

Andruil decided to up the pace. seeing as they were close, he could afford to have Furax gallop a bit. giving the horse a nudge, the signal enough, the horse bursting into a gallop down the dirt path, dust being kicked up behind them...

Sure enough, Arsenic soon began to recognize more of his surroundings. 'We're almost there.' He shook a lock of red hair out of his face. Almost as soon as he said so, he spotted the village. Faces he'd known most of his life turned to look at them, some openly curious, others wary. Vix's familiar figure was standing beside the well, heaving a bucket of water out hand by hand. Her determined grimace became a smile as she spotted him. "Arsenic! I was beginning to think you'd gotten yourself lost!" she called. He smiled back, but only with his lips; his expression let Vix know something had gone wrong. Her green eyes narrowed, then flicked to the man guiding the horse. She nodded towards the inn, the base for the guild and her home, and went back to pulling at the rope.

At first, nothing in the swamps seemed to move, the water still as always. The occasional fish bumped Septimus curiously, then quickly darted away from the far bigger beast. Tetto'eko's eyes flicked back and forth across the swamp, looking for larger threats...

Andruil continued on, glancing around for a stable for Furax. once he found one, he slowed, jumping off the horse and handing the reigns to the stable keeper, before glancing at Arsenic. "The lady of the house, i presume?" he asked as he nodded in Vix's direction as he began walking towards the inn...

Meanwhile, Septimus continued moving, the glow in his runes flowing along the length of his arms towards his claws, having a distinctly fiery look about them despite the whitish blue shade, almost as if the Dragon was preparing to incinerate any animal in his immediate vicinity...

'Yes. Vix is the one who not only owns the inn, but who goes out of her way to feed the men and women who need to rest after their jobs are done,' Arsenic replied, dismounting as well and starting after Andruil. 'She's not one to laze around, that's for sure. The assassins repay her for her work in both coin and helping her out when she needs something done. We all respect her - not just because of that, but because she can certainly take care of herself and isn't afraid to put people who get out of line in their place.' He chuckled.

"Impressive. respect well earned, then" responded Andruil as he walked into the inn, glancing around...

The room they had just entered was of medium size. The floor and walls were made of wooden planks. A fire blazed in a stone hearth set into the far wall, offering the room warmth. Set around it were some comfortable-looking chairs and a table. A door to their left led to the kitchen; to their right was a staircase that led to the bedrooms upstairs. Not long after they walked in, the door opened again and in came Vix, out of breath and carrying her bucket of water. This she set down with a heavy thud in a place that was out of the way, before stretching out her arms and turning to Arsenic and Andruil. "Okay. I know that look, Arsenic. What happened?" The red-haired elf glanced at Andruil. 'I...had to refuse the job we received today,' he said slowly. Vix raised one eyebrow. "And?" she prompted. 'Well, let's just say, the person who wanted to hire me didn't take the refusal well. In fact, he just about threw a tantrum and threatened me with death if I didn't take the job.' His lip curled. "Great," Vix sighed. "As if we didn't have enough vengeful brats trying to kill us all because we refused to kill someone." Arsenic let out a mental snort. 'If it wasn't for Andruil, here,' he said, 'I would be dead.' Vix's other eyebrow shot up in surprise. "Is that so?" She ran a contemplative glance over Andruil. "You have my thanks, then, and most likely the thanks of most of the guild. We'd have missed this idiot if he'd gotten himself killed."

Trajan stumbed back, after having heard of what had happened to the town of Susano. The emperor's face was now in a complete sweat, and his irises were narrowed down to as small as they could be... First, Jeetis alive once more, and now this? What on earth was going on around here? The emperor began to regain his cool after a few moments of heavy breathing, before ordering to a nearby servant, "Rally together our troops. You are to dress up as me and lead the forces off to Susano, and take it back from the chubby hands of those norsemen!" The servant shot off like a rocket upon hearing the words, right toward the horse stable outside of the castle...

Andruil chuckled at the lady's words. "It was my pleasure. After your undoubted customer went into a rage he had half the city chasing him. along with some very unpleasant insect-like fellows. through some improvisation and more than a stroke of good luck, we ended up walking out of the city in the middle of a lockdown. Arsenic is a good actor, though. i'll hand him that. played the blind, mute, broke war veteran very well indeed" he said with a smirk. "Tell me...Is there a name for me to cal you by, miss....?" he inquired...

She cracked a smile. "He's played worse roles. My name's Vixen." She made a face at the mention of her birth name. Arsenic let out a mental chuckle, knowing how much Vix despised the name. "I don't know what my mom was thinking when she named me. Call me Vix. Everyone does."

"Both wonderful names. but if you wish, Vix it is. My name is Andruil. Andruil Lyall of the Silver Order of Valenhad Knights" said Andruil with a slight, mock bow, looking up and smirking. "Or at least, I was. I'm walking out of that life" he finished...

Vix tilted her head curiously, her snakelike braid slithering over shoulder and coming to rest along her back. "You brought a charmer home this time, Arsenic," she said, eyes glinting playfully. Arsenic gave a half-amused, half-helpless shrug. "So, aside from saving random elves from getting skewered, is that what brings you to our humble guild?"
