After some time of walking, the armored being finally came to the wooden wall that enclosed the valley settlement, standing at what seemed to be a door. There were stones littered around it, some small, others quite large. Some were a light color, almost white with black streaks and bits emdedded in them. Others were dark, almost black with cracks running across them. The tall wall was a dark grey in color and made from neatly cut tree trunks. They were the exact same height with the tops carved into arches, so that looking down the length of the wall made them appear to be rolling hills. "Fitting" Desrium thought, given the area the settlement was located. "You there, stranger!" A voice called out to him. He turned his head, looking to the source of the sound. He found himself looking up at a tower behind the wall, just to the side of the entrance. The tower was a square in shape, made out of light brown timber and had a cone shaped roof held up by wooden pillars. Standing underneath said roof was a man wearing dark leather clothes and sporting silver chestplate armor. His hands were holding onto a loaded crossbow. "What be yer reason for coming here?" He asked. "Ive come just to visit. I mean no harm" Desrium replied, only to get a loud "What was that?!" from the guard. "Ive come to visit!" Desrium replied, the man yelling "Speak up lad! I cant make out what yer sayin'!"
"Ive come to-" Desrium said before realizing there was no point. Either his voice was too low, or the man was too high, but the fact of the matter was he couldnt hear him. "Either Im too high, or yer too low, or maybe Im goin' deaf, but I cant hear you, lad!" Desrium simply stared at the guard. "Wait a minute I know how to fix this!" He said, turning away from Desrium and looking to his side. He yelled down to the people below "Open the gate! Have your weapon ready!"
"Now theres no need for weapons..." Desrium thought as he heard a loud thunk from behind the wall. Seconds after, the large door started to pull apart, revealing the sights behind it...
