When the gate opened, Desrium could see a well made cobblestone path cutting over the grass and heading down into the village. The buildings were all wood, with some stone features. He couldnt make out much details about the place through the guards that stood before him. Large men wearing similar leather clothes, silver chest plate armor and leg braces. There was a hint of green in their uniforms. Of course, they all had their swords out of their sheathes and held the blades out at an angle, ready to charge a threat and run it through. The swords gleamed in the sunlight, a broad base at the hilt that transitioned to a narrower blade with a rounded off tip. "Now then, what be yer reason for coming here?" One of the guards asked, eyeing Desrium warilly. "Im just a visitor" The armored stranger said again, standing straight with his hands to his sides. The guards looked to each other for a moment before asking "Why do you have that armor? Are you a knight? Shouldnt you be dying in the name of your king?" He said the word with disgust in his voice. "And whats wrong with yer eyes!?" Another exclaimed. "I am no knight. I am simply a traveller" He ignored the other questions, simply saying again "I mean no harm"
"And why should we trust you?" The second guard who spoke asked. "Because," Desrium began. "Someone who meant you harm wouldnt come to your wall alone and take the time to have this conversation, would they?"
"You could be a spy! An agent of darkness even, looking the way you do!" A guard exclaimed. By now a crowd of civillians had gathered a few feet behind the guards, trying to get a peek at the stranger that had them on edge. "And what does a settlement in a valley, surrounded by forests and mountains, have to fear from spies?" Desrium retorted. "You are no kingdom, that is for certain" His eyes had flashed as he learned about infiltrators and the supposed “Agents of darkness”, which he now knew was no different from a demon. He was starting to grow tired of being related to those beings. “And again, if I was an ‘agent of darkness’, I wouldn’t have put up with this conversation” The guards looked to each other again, after a short while they stepped aside. “If your intentions are indeed of good heart, then we welcome you to Daaven, may you enjoy your time here” The guards said in unison, clearly having practiced the phrase. “Thank you” Desrium replied, walking forward through the gate, ignoring the people staring at him.
