Jacob stood behind the wooden double doors, spotting the laser sight moving back and forth, the man eyeing the laser sight's sweeps scrutinisingly, noticing what seemed to be a break in the beam's path. narrowing his eyes, he reached for his belt, pulling the pin on a grenade, letting it cook for a second and tossing it. Jacob ducked sideways behind cover as the grenade was hurled through the doorway into the large room, hitting the object breaking the beam with a faint thud, detonating almost the instant it hit, spraying shrapnel in all directions, almost point blank against the creature, Jacob raising his rifle, as he leaned sideways from behind cover, looking through it at the target as he let loose several rounds...

There was a deafening bellow, and a thirty-foot creature seemed to appear out of thin air, its scales, studded with large osteoderms, turning an alarming chalky white as it suddenly retreated through the hole near it, the bullets spattering against its tail and muscled legs. There was a glimpse of its shredded flank, some of the muscle exposed and one of its tiny arms twisted beyond recognition. Another roar sounded, and Jacob was suddenly sent flying backwards as an invisible force smashed into his chest, knocking the wind out of him and leaving a pair of shallow cuts along his sides as the second Carnotaur's horns grazed Jacob's body...

Suddenly a spray of bullets collided with the side of the Carnotaur, peppering its shoulder and midsection, the blood of the wounds lit up by the TAR-21's laser sight. With the many gunshot wounds inflicted on the creature, it would not be able to hide anymore, its own blood marking its position.

the angle of the blow sent Jacob slamming back against the desk, landing in a crouch as he snarled, rising to his feet as he took aim at the creature before him, opening fire at the attacker no more than a couple of seconds after it attacked him, leaving nearly no time for it to retreat, the bullets ripping across it's semi invisible form, the night vision scope of the Merc's rifle drawing a clear shape for him to attack...

The Carnotaurus howled in anger, backing away. As soon as it was clear, it turned and sprinted out the hole and into the jungle, already with a noticeable limp, disappearing far into the foliage as the bullets chased it, leaving a bloody trail behind it...

Jacob dusted himself off as he ejected the used clip, flipping it and ramming the second unused clip attached to it, in it's place, cocking the weapon and checking himself over for damage. aside from being winded, he could see no damage, the attacker having hit him with the blunt end of it's head, as far as he could guess. stepping further back into the room, he resumed his investigation, coming across a couple of walkie talkies, the man checking to be sure they worked, seeing 3 faint green blips along the middle of the front of the devices, under the speakers, identifying a full charge on both. he grabbed one, and listened in. nothing. deciding it could be of use, he adjusted the frequency on both, keeping a mental note of what they were before for later use. he grabbed the two and placed them in two of the pockets of the long coat, before turning towards the door, taking aim with his assault rifle, scanning for any sign of a threat, seeing nothing as he made his way towards David...

"Clear here, Max. Nothin' other than us and no signs of any life-or death for that matter," riley responded to his friend after a few moments past. "Maybe... maybe they got out of here before anything bad happened?" the merc suggested, before thinking, "well, either that or we'll find dead bodies in the others rooms..."

The hooting, which had momentarily stopped during the Carnotaur attack, abruptly started again, now suddenly much closer, echoing noticeably off the walls. The creature clearly wasn't trying to hide from the humans, and was instead moving closer to them rapidly, almost like it was curious as to what was going on...

"It's been six months, Riley," Barnes said as he moved inside with the mercs. "I doubt any bodies will be here, especially since whoever was here earlier has cleaned up shop pretty well."

"I dont think we'll be hearing from those things again" David said as he saw Jacob approach. From what he could make out, his fellow mercenary was mostly unharmed- unlike the creatures they had driven off. Creatures that were so dependant on ambush tactics were now blaring targets for the other animals on the island. The scent of blood would keep predators in the area busy, leading them from the base and into the jungle. "So, didja find anything useful?" He asked, slinging his gun back onto his back.

Jacob reached into a pocket, grabbing one of the Walkie Talkies, passing it to David as he moved towards the bloodstains on the ground from the beasts. he crouched down and checked the stains, hearing the hooting only a few seconds after he had confirmed his hunches, closing an open pouch as he reached for his side arm. "David. Be sure to stick to that frequency unless directed otherwise" he said lowly as he drew his side arm, taking aim towards the source...

David nodded, slipping the walkie talking into one of his suit's compartments near his waist. Most of the radio fit, save for the antenna. He then pulled out his knives, flipping the handles within his palms so that they pointed down to the floor, perfect for quick, deadly slashes and stabs. Noise seemed to attract unwanted guests. A silent kill should remedy that

The hooting slowly grew louder, and soon, the footsteps of a relatively large animal could be heard, the hooting now punctuated by snorts and sniffs. The sounds seemed to be coming from the other side of the room, where another pair of double doors were. A shadow could already be seen passing over them, though these were closed, unlike the other pair, and therefore it was almost impossible to see what was on the other side...

"Let's go. leave it to skitter round as much as it likes. chances are the smell of blood will lure it away. and that's IF the smell of gunpowder doesn't scare it of completely. There is no animal I know of that doesn't fear the smell of gunpowder. that, and burnt motor oil. both of them almost perfect animal repellants" said Jacob calmly as he continued down the hallway to the side of the room, preferring to use the narrower smaller corridors to his advantage. afterall...he wasn't called Cutlass for nothing...

Having heard the voice, the animal on the other side of the door suddenly pushed one open, its head poking through curiously. The head was strangely, though definitely that of a predator. It was yellow with black spots, like a leopard, and its jaws were slightly curved, with a hook in the tip of its upper jaw. The most distinct feature, however, was the pair of hemispherical, blood red crests on its head, which formed a V-shape when viewed from head-on. The creature hooted again, slowly, cautiously, pushing through the doorway, its head at nearly the height of a man. Its long slender neck wasn't smooth, and appeared to have ripples of some kind along its length...

"I found that flaming rubber and the aftermath of a seven bean dinner gets similar results" David replied as he went along with Jacob, the mercenary on full alert despite the casual tone of his voice. At the tiniest indication of an attack, he would lash out and show once more why he was called Grizzly...

Rick had followed his fellow mercs into the garage, feeling a little easier than he had been outside in the jungle. While there was thus far no telling what dinosaurs could be inside the building, they would at least be more managble than then T-rex that they had almost had a second encounter with back in the canyon...

Persephone looked around as she entered into the garage. Nice place... she yawned to herself, but she was on high alert. For there to be no bodies left, not even a scrap of DNA, after whatever it was that occured here...

"Yeah, but I mean, there aren't even any skeletons or blood!" Riley replied to Barnes, before continuing, "though, we might find something in one of the other rooms here, if we can access them..."

Barnes shrugged. "We'll see," he said, as Dodgson activated the card swiper inside the garage. Barnes narrowed his eyes as he watched the door close. He could have sworn he saw a pair of yellow eyes, glowing in the dark, watching them from the darkness of the forest, but the door obscured his view too quickly. He shook his head. He was getting distracted, and now was exactly not the time for that. He was going to speak again, when he heard a burst of static from seemingly every direction, echoing off the walls. After a moment, he realized that the research base must of had some kind of PA system, and there was someone on the other end trying to make contact...

The static was not heard anywhere else in the base, strangely, so David and Jacob were ignorant of it, the only sign of life being the curious dinosaur that strode into the room they were in, hooting at them again...
