Vix in her were form. To call it by its true name, her Iupan form. This were gene has been passed down through the Adsila line for as long as anyone can remember - and until recently, the gene lay dormant in Vix. Rage triggered by the sudden loss of many of her friends caused to morph into her halfway form - not quite Elfin, not quite Iupan.
The scars on her back have an interesting story to go along with them. Vix's mother Cholena was disowned by her grandfather, Tlaloc, because he did not approve of Cholena's marriage to Jolon, Vix's father. Tlaloc left Cholena nothing and sent her, Jolon, and their unborn daughter out to fend for themselves. For the first few years of her life, Vix grew up knowing only her parents and what her mother and father taught her of her heritage.
But when they were discovered by humans and captured, she soon knew nothing but pain and sorrow. Given the scar she now bears across her back when her mother and father at first resisted the slavers, she saw Jolon and Cholena beaten and worked to death; when she was old enough to work for the slavers, she was forced to do near impossible tasks and whipped brutally if she failed. She was also subjected to the whims of her male captors as her mother was before her, and if she refused to "play along", they would take what they wanted from her by force.
This was her life for quite a few years, and would have been her life until she died, if the leader of her captors hadn't been drunk enough for her to find an opening one night and slip away. A small party of assassins found her, took her in. They brought her to their village and showed her the inn where they stayed, the very same inn that would one day fall into her capable hands. There she stayed even when they moved on; tidying the inn up, making it more comfortable, and falling into the role that would become her life.
With her Iupan side awakening, and Tlaloc deceased from a sudden illness, Vix stands to inherit the whole of the Adsila line. But, there is a problem. The thick scar that runs from her right shoulder to her left hip, left by the slavers when her parents at first refused to obey their demands, is aheavy burden. Whenever Vix overworks herself, the scar becomes inflamed and invokes an almost seizure-esque fit. A cripple, and the last of the Adsilas, Vix despairs that she will ever amount to anything when compared to her ancestors.
(Side note: Those aren't NEARLY all of her scars; just the ones big and raised enough to be seen through her fur.)

Honestly, it reminds me more of a badger than anything else. It looks good, and I'd assume it's a fox, but I don't know- it doesn't seem too "foxy" to me.
