Under the shade of the largest tree in the solitary cycad grove,Razorjaw slept peacefully

He had been lucky enough to catch a small herbivore that had been grazing in the grove and mistaken him for dead,a fatal mistake. And now he was sleeping off the meal

That was a good feed he thought in his slumber I could have gone for something bigger but beggars can't be choosers.......

Bane nodded his appreciation, silently following the fairly large dinosaur to wherever this cave it mentioned may be. He didn't intend on staying any longer than he had to, for he didn't know what unknown dangers may or may not lurk in this foreign place...

Xanthe nodded as Aurora departed, Savarna already encouraging their son and daughter to rest with a low humming growl. Cirrus yawned widely, baring tiny but sharp teeth as he settled in the center of the nest. Alira took up a position closer to her mother, blue eyes blinking dazedly as exhaustion settled in. Xanthe chuckled. "well, we certainly can't say her first day was uneventful." a deep roar interrupted the alpha male, and he lifted his head. "That's one of the subadults," he muttered. "They took longer than I expected..." He started to get to his feet, then paused. "we'll see how well they guard their kill tonight." "even if that means we may lose the hunt?" Savarna asked, cocking her head. "if that is what it means, then that is what it means," Xanthe replied, settling back down and affectionately bumping his mate's muzzle with his own. "Rest well my love," he added more quietly, turning to survey the rest of his pack.

Steeltalon was exhausted and beginning to feel the pain of her wounds. The young female raptor yawned. Night was falling. She would need to retreat to the underground caves for the night...no doubt the smell of blood would have attracted the attention of other hungry predators. With a last look at her home, she turned and slipped through an entrance just big enough for a raptor to fit through, and began to kick up some of the soft sand that covered he cave floor. She wanted to make a dip to sleep in - she found she got to sleep faster when she did.

Valu, still watching with tired, wary eyes, noticed the raptor move into the cave and soon decided to get some rest, slowly shutting her eyes.

The rest of the pack, seemingly entirely forgetting about the lost raptor, were all sleeping inside either cave in their territory minus the sentries, who watched both that were on either side of the river, using rocks above water-level to move across it...

The compy pack, by now finished with the scraps of meat on the Deinosuchus's mouth, began to head back into the forest. As they swamed into the underbrush, a pair of jaws snapped out at them from behind a fern. The nearest Compies sidesteped the bite, before dashing into the forest. From behind the fern emerged a 34 foot long Kaprosuchus. Unlike Bias, this crocodile was a terrestrial creature, and perferred to hunt on land than in the water. Its eyes looking around, the land-based croc moved off, in search of food, paying almost no attention to Bias... almost.

Ba'al, feeling uncomfortable around all the spinos, especially how they were glaring at him, decides to play it safe and heads farther downstream from the group.

"Smart move, small arms," one of the male spinos taunts.

Ba'al simply snorts. Snappnig back with an insult would only result in him getting hurt, and he was gettign too old to heal as quickly as he used to. instead, he opts to grumble angrily and drink heartily from a good 300 yards away from the group. Two males still glare at him, as if trying to goad him to fight, but Ba'al simply blocks them from his vision and enjoys his liquidy treat...

"Damn. one would think after what we did to the Tyrannosaurs your kind would learn their lesson. Now you go walking into our territory like you own it. I thought you guys were supposed to be the intelligent ones" hissed a disgruntled young Spinosaur, evidently only just reaching adulthood. a couple of larger ones paced around in the background, wary but irritable at the Tarbosaur's boldness. what they didn't know was that they were being watched...

Crusher walked on until they reached the stony cavern entrance, a large jagged rip in the cliff face. it was a wide entrance, but relatively low. a fully grown super predator wouldn't fit. Crusher himself had to crouch to get in. this posed a problem. the Rex set down the Tenontosaur limb he had brought with him from the kill several hours earlier, before crouching, dropping the Raptor on the floor as gently as he could. with that, he lifted the Raptor in his teeth, careful not to injure the creature, before slowly walking into the low cave, looking for an adequate place to set the Dromeosaur down, spotting a dip in the earth where sand, dirt and dead moss had accumulated over the years. the Rex set the Raptor down, careful to avoid anything that may injure it, before glancing back at it's companion. "Now that that's been dealt with, you gonna give me some names? or am I gonna be forced to introduce you and your friend as 'A couple of raptors I found on the way home' to Darkness when he gets here?" he growled, taking strides back outside to pull the Tenontosaur leg inside, not wanting it to be exposed to the elements, or worse, the ravenous mouths that roamed just outside, skittering around on tiny green feet, waiting for a chance to feed....

In the conifer grove the light of the moon fell on the back of Razorjaw, shining on his scales

He felt like he had stayed here eating small herbivores long enough and was once again ready to hunt outside of the protective grove, slowly but surely he lifted himself of the ground prepared to leave.Shaking himself of twigs and other debris that littered the grove floor and had become stuck on his back he raised his head and sniffed the air, looking for anything that would tell him where the outside was,his ears picked up the faint noise of running water Must be a river nearby he thought, and seeing as he remembered spotting a river close to the grove before he entered it then if he simply followed the sound of running water he'd be out in no time

Sure enough Razorjaw followed the sound and was soon out in the open, the un-dappled moonlight from the sun dazzled his eyes for a moment but he was soon on his way, looking for food....

The unusually large Kaprosuchus moved through the underbrush with surprising silence. Only the occasional shake of a bush or two betrayed his existance. As the large croc searched around for food, his nose picked up somthing close.... very close.

As Steeltalon began to settle herself, Riptide was coaching a young adult male raptor in his task. The mutant leader's ice blue eyes never left the younger raptor's pale green. No matter how unsettling the expression in those eyes, the young male never faltered. He'd grown up around those eyes, after all. He had learned their leader's moods. He had had to, if he'd wanted to survive. This was one of Riptide's offspring - a very dark gray raptor with golden stripes streaking along his jaw and down his neck, to mark his shoulders. There they stopped. A few more stripes wrapped around his ankles, and one thick but short stripe ran from the tip of his snout to the back of his head. Riptide had taken only one mate - an old friend of his named Amberclaw. She was a plain raptor, milky white in color, her only striking features being her intense orange eyes and honey-gold claws. Some speculated that he didn't even truly love her - that he had simply chosen her because she had promised him strong sons. And, oh, had she delivered. Raven, Whiptail, and Ebony were some of the pack's strongest members.

"Now, remember what i told you," Riptide growled. "I don't care how you do it, but make sure Steeltalon does not survive her next hunt."

"Yes father." Raven blinks slowly. "I understand."

Bane snickered as he followed the rex into the medium sized overhang-cave hybrid.
"You can call me Bane. He's Renegade," the Dromaeosaur hissed, tossing his head toward Renegade on mention of his name.
"We were tracking the paths of some raptors... or at least, I think they were raptors... that were harassing our own pack, so to speak. They attempted to steal food, and posed a threat to some of the younger ones. Anyway, as we were following their footprints, they ambushed us. Renegade must have suspected them outnumbering us... he seems to know these things usually, so I followed him, fleeing," Bane growled, wondering whether it was a good idea to trust the stranger with this much information...

"So wait....you mean that they could still be following you?" growled Crusher as he cocked his head, eyeing the Raptor curiously as he began weighing the situation in his head. if there was a pack chasing these two, it could put Darkness and himself in a dangerous situation if they found them here...perhaps giving the two Raptors shelter wasn't as good an idea as he first thought...

"Doubtful," Bane responded, swinging his head back to look at the entrance of the overhang. "From what I gathered, we lost them when Renegade went down. In any case, your scent should mask ours well enough, along with your kill, so they wont find us here..."

As the Kaprosuchus moved theough the undergrowth, he found himself at the edge of the forest, where trees were sparsely spread, and there was much open space. The croc looked around, sniffing around for food. As he looked, he failed to notice the numerous holes in the ground. Within the holes were tiny, crushed fragments of egg shells. Sleep began to overtake the crocodilian, who went into one of the larger holes in the ground, curled up, and fell asleep...

Little did he know, he had stumbled upon the Sauropod Nesting Grounds....

Crusher nodded. with his extremely keen sense of smell, the fact his own scent would mask theirs had been overlooked. sighing, the Rex walked over to a large earthy dip that he had used as a resting spot for several weeks. "Might want to get some rest. It's late. You'll probably need to take your friend back to your pack to be watched over" growled Crusher, the Tenontosaurus leg safely at his side, out of reach of any would-be thieves...

Bane nodded, grunting "Thanks for the help." He found a spot by the side of the pseudo-cave to curl up in, while at the same time able to keep a watchful eye on Renegade, who still showed no signs of movement...

The following morning saw the beginning of the long, amusing, irritating and frightening year of mothering for the Adult female Allosaur. and what a way to start the year it was. a terrified squeak seemed to pierce the silence of the misty dawn that blanketed the Allosaur nest. Aurora's eyes snapped open, one amethyst orb gazing at the source of the sound, spotting Blade locked in combat with a Compsognathus, seemingly hell bent on tearing it apart. Aurora sighed in relief when she saw her son was managing on his own. she remembered her own first fight with a Compy, only a few hours old. she had had a fairly more difficult time, fighting to keep the creature's serpentine neck and snout from getting a good angle at her throat, while it kicked and clawed at her flanks. Blade however seemed more worried about keeping it still while he chewed on it's neck, which, despite the ferocity of his fighting, seemed almost excessively amusing at their size. the Compy kicked at his chest and stomach, Blade setting one foot between the Compy's legs and pressing against it's lower stomach and pelvis bone, the green reptile squeaking in panic as it felt Blades long toe claws graze dangerously against it's soft stomach, kicking off and knocking them apart, the two tumbling away from eachother clumsily as they scrambled to their feet, Blade staring at the Compy with bright, excited emerald eyes. the Compy stared at him wide eyed. It had come here expecting an easy meal before the adults woke up. it had never expected the youngster to be so feisty, or so lucky. it was obvious from the way Blade fought that he had no idea what he was doing. but his luck was startling to the poor Compy. first the neck, then the stomach, all in a matter of seconds? it was as if the Allosaur was born knowing where to hit. smiling, the female lay still, her gaze relaxing once she had realised Blade was doing fine...

Crusher lay silently in the cave, the shafts of light from the early morning sun passing through the canopy outside of the cavern, casting a greenish glow into the cavern, the Rex's grey and tan skin taking a green tint from the light. beside him lay the Tenontosaur leg, which, while having suffered quite a bit of nibbling at the jaws of Compies in the night, was more or less intact. He had been awake since before dawn. he was lucky enough to have a decent amount of sleep, though the sudden attack of a night horror shook him from his slumber an hour before dawn. the Rex sighed, frustrated. for years he had tempered his mind, forged it in the flames of life and memory. He had developed ways to help him forget. problem was, that only worked while he was awake. in his sleep, his past returned with a vengeance, assaulting his mind in a barrage of horrific memories. the roars, screeches, bellows and snarls of battle, the spray of blood and smashing of bone, the pops of dislocated limbs, the yelps of agony, panic and fear. Every detail returned in his dreams, warped by his own fears of death and of seclusion from those he knew and cared about. he had lost everything. everything he had ever known had, in one night 8 years ago, ceased to exist. he had gained one friend in that time. and since, he had grown to consider him a brother, in a way. and he knew that that, was likely the most valuable thing he had left. friendship. Though he was young, Crusher knew there were only three things that mattered now. To hold Darkness close, to discover the identities of those who did this to him.....and to return the favour...with interest...

The Spinosaur shook his head as he rose to his feet, yawning widely. the previous night had bothered him. he had been informed that a Tarbosaur had entered the territory, in plain sight. it had been ignored. short of a few words of mockery, it got away unscathed. he was not pleased. still, at least it had shown no aggression. that was the one thing that saved the Spinosaurs present from a vicious punishment at Thrasher's claws. still....he needed to leave a mark. a warning. he needed to make an example to prevent another fool absently strolling into his territory. It was time he went hunting...

The early rays of the sun gleamed down through the mist upon the clearing around the river, lighting up the area. Near where Blackside and Monozu were sleeping, a trio of hunting Hatzegopteryx were patroling the area, flushing out any potential meals. With heads over 10 feet long, and wingspans of 50+ feet, these were the largest Pterosaurs to ever exist, and lived like Storks in other parts of the world. One Giraffe-sized individual took note of the sleeping predators nearby, before darting his head into the grass. two seconds later, he pulled it back up, with a three-foot lizard in his beak. As he swallowed the lizard hole, the Hatzegopteryx noticed the female Tyrannosaur rise up onto it's feet. The massive flightless Pterosaur let out a deep, ear-scratching honk, before it and its two hunting partners began to move away from the area. Blackside snorted, watching the odd Pterosaurs leave on foot as Monozu also got up onto his feet...

On the northern shore, Bias was still fast asleep, though the rays of the sun were quickly warming him up. Soon, he would wake up and head off to hunt for food.

Having stayed up the whole night, Ba'al glances about, and sees the shining rays of the morning peirce the jungle shrubbery.

"Morning....."

With a yawn, the tarbosaur falls asleep....

The allosaur duo awakens from the slumber, glanci\ng about their current location, before stretching and awakening....
