Random Topic V3

Got something to say that isn't fitting anywhere else? Post it here!

My opinion comes from a combination of watching videos on Youtube, asking people who've played Portable 3rd about their hunting experience, and even borrowing it from a friend (Complete with me having to go onto Google translate to translate most of the japanese I read, and asking said friend about what buttons do which and stuff like that.) I even did the Alatreon quest by myself, and I found it to be easier than the Ala quest in Tri (Thanks especially because of the lack of Dragonblight and the modified damage calculator...)

Eh, I'd rather find out for myself. Considering this bear dude is the first major monster, and thus is comparable to a "drome", it makes sense that he was easy.

I'm not surprised, considering Great Jaggi is a fast, compact raptor while the bear thing is a BEAR. Thus slower and easier to hit.

took down the bear first time I saw it [not even the hunt. first time it appeared. the Royal Honey gathering quest]. Jinouga [the wolf monster] is considerably more powerful. took me down twice in about 7 minutes, then a third time about 15 minutes later. was extremely fast. makes Naruga look slow.

Gira, Dragonblight is present in Portable 3rd IIRC. as is fireblight, thunderblight, and others. I suffered the latter of those when facing Jinouga.

also, take into account the equipment you hunt with. an experienced hunter with above-standard equipment will easily dispatch a monster assigned to him, especially if said equipment is selected specifically to deal with it. try hunting one of those monsters with a blade made of materials below the standard of the creature you're hunting, while naked, and see how you manage. that's a more reliable way to judge strength. [which reminds me, your armour may have had very high Dragon Resist skill points. would potentially make you immune to Dragonblight]

If I recall correctly, dragonblight IS gone. But the other blights are there.

Yeah. Dragonblight IS absent in Portable 3rd. Neither Deviljho or Alatreon inflict it, which makes fighting against either of them easier... that, and they simply don't inflict as much damage as they did in Tri...

As for the equipment, you might have a point... I really had no idea just how strong the equipment I was using really was, but I do know that the monsters I were fighting were Upper Rank... Me and my friend made certain of that...

I call it Fatalis syndrome- what was once a feared abomination is purposely weakened to make another, newer monster seem stronger.

Yeah, black fatalis used to be suicide to face in melee. Now I can kill him with an LS with my eyes closed.

Rathalos used to be a monster. Now he's relatively easy to kill, even in his greatest form.

Many people used to dread the Four Horns quest in MH1. In the recent games, they don't raise much fuss about that quest.

It's still friggin' annoying, but at least it's doable.

I don't find it as annoying as the dual Purple Gypceros quest, mainly because the bloses don't seem to decide to randomly make their way to where your fighting one as much as the Gyps.

Yeah, they do. That Black Blos nearly killed me on multiple occasions while I was fighting its buddy. But the gypceros quest is certainly annoying.

With the old Desert in MHFU, the Bloses meeting up on that map doesn't happen unless you go fight the Blos that starts in area 7 first. The other Blos might decide to show up, although the last time I fought the Blos in Area 7 first, I didn't see the other one show up.

I'm surprised so many people hate facing dual Gyps. That was one of my favourite farming quests before Portable 3rd erased them from existence : \

I used to hope I'd get them both at the same time. more of a challenge.

But yes, Dual Blos is annoying.

The One Horned Devil however is a completely different story...

Note to all you noobies- there's a reason why he's called "The Demon King" in that quest....
