"By now, they would be expecting that. You said before that they can detect you even when cloaked. If you had left that building on your own, they would have known. The only way they would have lost your energy signature is if you had come aboard my ship. They most likely suspect my betrayal of their trust... we can't have that...yet." Galaak said, once more formulating a plan. Perhaps there was a way to get back in the good graces of the Cephian mercenaries...and bring them to him. "Kala, I will need you to pretend that Ive captured you" the Ascatian said after a short pause...

Kala crossed his arms. "Are you sure they'll fall for that old trick?" he asked. Without waiting for an answer, he shrugged. "Eh, it's worth a shot. What's the worst that could happen?"

"Death for the both of us" Galaak responded bluntly. "But the prospect for success outweighs that possibility. If we can call them here, we can distract them while the droid gets aboard their ship. That is assuming communications could be established to get them here" He went on to say, already planning how they could carry out the exchange. The fact a lone explorer managed to "capture" an armed criminal would be strange in itself. The fact he managed to "capture" said criminal swiftly without a surge of energy marking a confrontation was even more curious, though that could be explained as a well executed sneak attack. The mercenaries could retain their doubt, but they would have no conclusive reason to believe Galaak was lying to them, much less planning to disable their craft.

As far as they were concerned, Galaak took Kala captive hours ago and tried to inform them. When met with silence, the Ascatian decided to hold the Cephian until he could report to the mercenaries.

"I was trying to be optimistic for once, actually," Kala replied flatly. "But if you insist... What if they DON'T answer our communications? They didn't last time, and they would have no reason to do so this time..."

"We can always try it. If not we will just have to fly to them. The latter is much more dangerous for us, for obvious reasons" the Ascatian explorer said, removing the goggles from his face. He tugged on either side of the white coat's neckline, causing a seam to appear down the middle of it. The coat parted, allowing Galaak to slip out of it and return it to a compartment in the workbench, along with the goggles and gloves.

"Then let's get a move on. I want to get this over with now, before Zakai decides to make the first move. We've given him enough time to prepare as it is." Kala flexed his suit's limbs, making sure the joints were still working at peak capacity. Standing around in a ship for long periods of time could cause the joints to occasionally seize up for short periods. Probably one of the flaws they were trying to fix when he stole the suit in the first place...

"Alright then" said Galaak before he issued a command to his ship. After punching in the order, the ceiling parted and the droid was taken into the inner workings of the cruiser by a large clamp. With that, he started walking to the ship's exit, the wall moving apart to allow passage.

Kala swiftly followed after his Ascatian ally, eager to get the mission underway. He wasn't much for standing around and waiting, and he had done his fair share of that today anyway...

"The lobby it is then," Lydia said, taking another generous mouthful of wine. Her face became a blank slate, hiding any further emotions she may have felt. "I'll make sure Sam's with me."

"I think that clears up our talk over the project. I'd be a rather poor host if I didn't at least offer you dinner after interrupting your evening and having you drive out here" said Atlas, smiling. "This place has some good food, if you're interested?"...

Soon, Mortum came upon the source of the horrid sound: there was a young lady in an alleyway, perhaps her early twenties, with two brutish men standing over her. She was sprawled across the dirtied floor, and the two men held small clubs. her body was covered in bruises, and she was both in visible pain and fear.

"Give us the goddamn money, lady!" on of the thugs shouted between clenched teeth.

"B-but I don't have any money!" the woman choked out, tears streaming down her cheeks. Another ferocious blow came from the troublemakers.

"Liar! give me the goddamn money!"

Mortum couldn't take it. With a single leap, he catapulted himself off of the building he had roosted upon and thumped behind the thug doing most of the assaulting. Both thugs, and the woman, turned to the source of the noise.

"What the?-"

The man did not finish his sentence. In one swift movement, Mortum thrust his blade through the poor bloke's chest, pulled it out just as quick, leaving him writhing on the ground in a final throe before death. The other thug flees, attempting to get away from the assailant, but he is not fast enough. He feels himself being lifted off of the floor, like some ethereal force had grabbed him. He realized just who he was facing down.

"W-wait, p-please! I'm sorry! He made me do it!" the man begged pitifully.

"Don't care," Mortum replied dryly. The man yelled in pain as his body is smashed into a wall before being tossed in a dumpster. Mortum sheathed his blade and turned to the woman. She was shaken, but alright for the most part.

"You alright?" Mortum said.

"I-I'm fine," she replied. "Th-thanks, stranger."

"Call me Mortum," the dark knight growled. "Stay safe."

As suddenly as he appeared, Mortum left, leaving the woman to call 911 on her own. His work was done; there was nothing more he could do without compromising his identity.

The middle aged man stopped, before looking around. He had made his way out of the alley, across the rather empty street, and over into the next alley. He looked down the 4-way cross-section he had reached. It seemed about right... The man reached into his pocket, before pulling out an odd note. He read it quickly, before putting it back. Yep, this was the place he had been instructed to be at... and considering it was only a stone's throw away from-

"We were waiting for you, Dr. Craven." A voice rasped from the darkness. Craven turned, but not in the direction the voice came. Rather, he faced down the way he was heading, so that he could see the other 3 intersecting alleys. From the corners of his eyes came two men, both slightly shorter than him, and in very rough clothing. The one on his left was the taller of the two, and had a scar running down his black face, stopping just short of his very short golden hair. The one on his right, on the other hand, was the shorter of the two, and had a cigar in his mouth. "You know, it took us most of the day just trying to find you. Your a slippery little bi*ch." The man on the left snorted.

Dr. Craven looked at him, then at his partner, before letting out a chuckle. "What do you clowns want with me anyway? I have things to do tonight, and unless what you want me to do intrests me, then your not even worth my time." He grumbled, reaching into his other pocket. Yes... he could clearly hear it... and he knew just where it was...

What the scientist had said must have struck a nerve among both the other men, for they glared back at him with looks that could turn a gorgon to stone. "Who are you, calling us clowns? We ain't members of the clown gang, you know." The shorter of the two barked back. He reached into his pocket, as if to pull something out, but a single eye twitch from the other man told him not to. "Now, Dr. Craven, let's not be hasty here. What he have in midn for you is something that I'm certain you will like..." The taller of the two said...

Lydia hesitated, remembering that she hadn't eaten before she'd left, assuming it would be a quick meeting. "...why not," she relented with a sigh, surprising herself a little with the decision. Maybe the alcohol had something to do with it.

Mortum continued on his way, searching for others to apprehend.

He always regretted when he failed to help those who needed him at desperate moments. People who were lost forever in the tides of time.

Like his sister.

Shrugging off these thoughts, Mortum took a deep breath to regain his focus before he continued bounding along...

"Wonderful" responded Atlas with a smile before getting up, offering a hand to Lydia as he rose...

He was strapped into his seat once more, eying the consoles laid out in front of him, the main screen of the ship prepped to display the communication feed. Galaak guided his ship towards the Cephian vessel well before they even established contact- if they ever would- that is. His ally was in the safe clutches of his ship's mechanical hands as he piloted the ship to its destination...

The Cephian ship's energy signature had increased little since E-doch had first detected it. Most likely, the ship was running on minimum power to maximize their energy stores while still able to do... whatever it is that they were doing in there...

"Predictable" Galaak remarked after a while, cancelling the attempt to hail the Cephian ship. "Well it appears we are going to have to cast aside any hope of deception if we can't even feed them the lie. The operation now relies completely on our robotic soldier" He said to Kala as E-doch began to slow, nearing the enemy vessel. Galaak began to lower his craft as much as he can in preparation to deploy the drone. While Zakai and his fellow mercenaries were likely expecting an attack, time was of the essence. Waiting for a more favorable opportunity just gave them more time to mount their own offensive.

The Cephian craft was hidden by the marshland canopy at first, but then they began to shake violently, and the ship's energy signature rapidly increased as it swiftly powered up. Whether or not the Cephians were actually aware of Galaak's ship being so close by was unclear, but they clearly had detected the hail, as they sent their own, short text message:

Catch us if you can.

With a mighty roar, the Cephian military vessel shot up from the ground at surprising speed, its armored hull smashing aside tree branches like twigs and burning the nearby trees with the flare of its red, glowing engines nacelles. The ship was rather large, around the same size of E-doch, if not somewhat larger, and had a pair of swiveling engines nacelles that propelled the ship up into the air, before switching around to provide forward propulsion. As it rose, the ship unleashed a small bombardment of red missiles that arced from near its nose and slammed into the ground below it, causing a none-too-subtle inferno of explosions. Its heat signature masked by the sudden conflagration, the Cephian ship rocketed away from the landing site at surprising speed considering its size, making a beeline for Los Diamantes...

The Ascatian muttered a curse under his breath, the sound guttural and the word barely comprehensible even if one spoke the language. He was just about to send his ship in hot pursuit of the ship, knowing the cruiser would be more than capable to keep up the chase, but then his attention was caught by the flames below him. He couldn't let the fire keep burning, even in wetlands like this the spread of the blaze could be disastrous to the environment. Focusing his energies and concentration on the large supply of liquid water in the area, the Ascatian summoned a large swelling on the surface that traveled upwards into a swirling plume before being suspended all together.

Galaak had begun to tremble from the strain of using his power like this. He wasn't used to having to use his abilities without direct contact and hand movements, but he couldn't afford to leave his ship at a time like this. The suspended bubble started to bulge in some areas, becoming misshapen before suddenly exploding all over the fire, the water being much colder than it was when taken from the marsh. Gray smoke billowed up from the area and Galaak leaned back in his seat, feeling the repercussions of his action. "E-doch, follow the ship's energy signature and arm all weapons" He ordered his ship almost breathlessly, the autopilot following the energy signature the Cephians left on their departure, allowing Galaak to rest for the time being...
