Super Hero RPG: Chronicles of Los Diamantes

Where good and bad RPGs and E-wars go to die.

The lone Ascatian simply stood there, seeming to massage his right wrist by moving his individual fingers around the area. He did this for a short duration before letting his arms drop back to his sides and he slumped over a little. "Now that you mention it..." Galaak thought, feigning a staggering forward step. As soon as he put his foot down, his body tensed up, his back shot straight and he reached to the sky with a powerful movement, a sudden surge of water shooting up and engulfing both of the warship's engines. Seconds after, the temperature dropped to subzero, flash freezing the nacelles, and soon after that two plasma blasts from E-doch collided with the starboard engine, the cruiser now hovering over its pilot. The explosions ended up shattering it and caused yet another blast that rocked the Cephian craft...

Mortum saw their weapons be trained on him. He sheathed his blade and raised up his hands.

"I mean no harm, fellow protectors. Take me if you wish."

Aya soon reached her station, and noticed that there were other cops that were towards the occurance. Sighing, Aya got into her car and started her up, just as about four other ones did so. They all drove off and headed towards the occurance. Aya hoped that she hadn't missed this, or she'd be PISSED....

There was silence after the explosion for a few moments. Nothing but the echo of the plasma discharge and the engine's destruction was heard, until Zakai's voice reappeared again, bitter and angry, but still with a hint of satisfaction that grew with every word he spoke. "You're a smart one, explorer, I'll give you that. Now, let's see how FAST you are." The hallway lit up somewhat brighter, the red lights pulsing along the hall's length and into the next one, before leading around a corner. "I have ordered Bate to execute Kala in the next five minutes. Get there before he does, and maybe I'll let you die quickly as a reward. Fail, and you will be at my mercy when Kala is killed. Oh, and that five minutes? It started a minute ago." Zakai laughed hoarsely. "You better start running..."

"Trap" Galaak muttered to himself as he started running, his foot falls echoing through out the corridor as he went. His large stride and light armor meant he was agile and fast indeed, but unable to soak up damage after his suit's shield was down. Another explosion rocked the ship as E-doch destroyed the other engine nacelle before recalling its cannons, disappearing into the night...

"Oh dear, that little low blow just cost you another minute. You better hurry!" Zakai snarled after the second engine nacelle was destroyed. He had hidden and protected auxiliary thrusters to help his ship fly still, but it would be sluggish, and he had no time to worry about that at the moment. Galaak just might be able to get to the brig in three minutes at his current speed, and Bate would need to deal with him accordingly...

The pulsing lights in the corridor ceilings led the way for Galaak, scouting out the quickest route to the brig near the back of the ship, its large double doors sealed shut, though the white light at their edges suggested they were still unlocked...

Galaak followed the path, his ship following his progress by flying over the warship. He eyed his scanners, looking for tell tale signs of blasters or mechanisms hidden behind the panels that could be booby traps and the likes. He had a feeling that the path itself was just leading him to a flash freezing chamber or something along the lines but he continued on, confident that he would be able to pick up on the equipment needed for such a thing. If it was indeed leading to where Kala was being held though, he would have to be ready for the fight. Reason and civility were long lost...

By the time Galaak reached the final hall leading to the brig's door without incident, Zakai's voice crackled over the PA system yet again: "So close, yet so far away, Ascatian! Bate, execute the criminal. Headshots only. I want the suit intact! You better run if you want to save him, Galaak..."

Galaak upped his pace somewhat, having a suspicion that Zakai was simply baiting him. If Bate executed Kala while he was still flash frozen, he and the armor would shatter to bits. He wasn't sure if Kala was specified to be brought back alive, but given the fuss made over the suit, its integrity was surely a factor of extreme consideration.

Galaak rushed towards the final door, ready to face what laid beyond.

Kala was indeed already thawed from his frozen prison, as Galaak could likely tell when the brig door finally opened. The room was relatively small, made even more cramped by the complex cell holding an immobile Kala. The cell had clear walls of either plastic or glass, but it was also equipped with some sort of electronic dampening system, made obvious by the occasional visible bolt of electricity that passed along the walls and floor. The system kept Kala's suit shut down, and he was frozen in a kneeling position, unable to even look up to see who had entered the room. Bate, on the other hand, was quite ready. His rifle was pointed through one of the small apertures of the cell wall and aimed at Kala's helmeted, unshielded head, up until the point that the door opened. Bate quickly spun around, raising his rifle and firing the charge plasma round he had prepared for Kala at Galaak instead...

Galaak rolled forward as he entered the room, inherently expecting to be fired upon. "Always so predictable" He thought as he pulled his gun from his back and held it forward, firing a crackling bolt of electricity at Bate before rolling over to the side, trying to make himself a hard target to hit. While he could engage in a gun fight, what he really wanted to do was get behind Bate to attack his exposed back...

Bate quickly strafed in the opposite direction from which Galaak rolled, dodging the electric blast and opening fire with his rifle on full automatic, firing short, controlled bursts while moving around the corner of the cell, using it as cover. Despite its fragile appearance, the cell was actually surprisingly tough, and with Kala inside, Bate was willing to bet that the Ascatian would risk attacking with him in the way...

Galaak also took advantage of the cover Kala's holding cell provided, using it as a way to get closer to Bate with cautious steps towards it. If Bate went to finish Kala off, he would leave himself vulnerable to a quick strike to the back that would avenge the Ascatian's ally. On the other hand, if the two just remained circling the cell firing occasionally, it just gave him more time to scan the interior of the room...though in that time Zakai could easily appear to end the stand off...

Bate stood straight and faced Galaak, able to see him through the clear walls of the cell without having to leave his cover. With a deft hand motion, he plucked a disc-shaped device from a magnetic slot on his armor's waist and tossed it over the top of the cell, aiming the trajectory just right to land next to Galaak. Bate quickly dove away, heading for the opposite side of the room of Galaak and the flash-freeze grenade before it detonated...

Galaak quickly grabbed the Zerelion from his back with his free hand and he swung it about, batting the freeze grenade back over the cell, the disc detonating in the air seconds later...

The grenade cast a large wave of freezing energy over the cell and a small area around it, freezing the walls of the cell and the surrounding floor, but also, unbeknownst to either combatant, damaging the electronic dampeners. Bate didn't notice, instead quickly darting into the open to fire another charged shot at Galaak from an angle, making sure to avoid the frozen cell...

Kala sluggishly awoke from a half-sleep-like stupor, his suit's functions slowly but steadily rebooting. He vaguely heard the sounds of battle around him, but it was faint and had a faint echoing quality to it. For the moment, the Cephian focused on getting mobile again, and trying to figure out just what was going on...

Galaak put his Arc Accentuator on his back, deciding it was now or never. He channeled all of his shield's strength to his front and gripped the Zerelion. He felt his life essence coursing through his veins as he too charged out into the open, ready to unleash the power of the staff...

Aya and some other officers, most of which were new, were almost to the scene of the crime. Most of the newbies seemed nervous (a big call like this was not good for your first few days), but Aya was relatively unshaken. Big things like this happened occasionally... she just wondered what the hell was going on in this city. Wierd things had been occurring today... and she had no clue why. It made her uncomfortable.

Bate fired the charged shot straight a Galaak, then moved forward. If the Ascatian's shields absorbed the shot, he wanted to make sure he didn't get a chance to retaliate before the Cephian was in melee range...

The shot slammed against a barrier of white and red energy, taking the brunt of the damage but not failing as it would if the shield was spread over the entirety of the suit. Rather, it was severely weakened, but by now it wouldn't matter. Galaak turned the staff about so that the end with the orb was facing Bate and then slammed it into him as he moved forward, the jolt created by the discharge of energy held within the off white glowing sphere being enough to seize the suit up and stun the Cephian within...

Bate jerked backwards, the combination of the blow and the electric shock stunning him for a moment. As the effects began to wear off, however, he staggered backwards, raising his rifle and firing on Galaak, now at a closer range...
