Jenkins, rather bored as he was, perked up at the sound of a consistent beeping coming from the sonar machine. Peeking down at the screen, he saw exactly what he expected: a large, green blip making a beeline straight for the rear of the ship. And a big one too. "Show time," Jenkins muttered...

Suddenly, the boat jerked forward rather violently, nearly knocking Jack off his feet and sending Barnes toppling over from his sitting position. Scrambling to his feet, rifle in hand, he shouted, "What the hell was that?!"

"Sounds like company" Hiero stated as he got back on his feet after being knocked over by the sudden movement.

"Might as well go searching for a boathouse down river. Like hell if this place only has one boat when dinosaurs are taking to the water like fish!" David called out to Jacob from the start of the jetty. If there was another place where boats were being stored, it was probably a nest to some sort of animal...

"With a bit of luck, it WON'T take us all day to find it" said Jacob as he headed onwards, firearm at the ready as he began to move towards one of the banks of the river, making his way in the direction of his objective...

Rick fell to the floor when the boat jerked from whatever collided with it. Getting to his feet, he cautiously took his Carbine from it's sling on his back and moved towards the center of the boat. Whatever had hit the boat would have to have been around the size of the boat or possibly larger in order to make it jerk as hard as it did...

Barnes glanced to the side, seeing Jenkins peek out of the cabin curiously. "Doc, what the hell happened?!" He shouted. "Did we hit something?!" The scientist merely shrugged. "I have no idea! I think something hit us!" Barnes was about to ask what he meant by that, until he got his own answer in the form of a massively deep growl that reverberated throughout the ship's hull, despite the source apparently being from underwater. It sounded like the growl of a bull crocodile. Barnes looked back down the river in confusion. It was highly unlikely that the Deinosuchus had decided to pursue them, so what else could have done it? "Doc... what was that?" Jenkins swallowed nervously, giving a sheepish grin. "Alright, before you yell at me, I'll have you know that saying we won't run into a Spinosaurus was an educated guess, not a consistent fac--" "Andrew, do us all a favor and get back in the cabin, get us out of here, and please, with all due respect, SHUT. UP." Dodgson growled angrily. After a short pause, Jenkins merely glared at his compatriot, and disappeared inside the command cabin, while Dodgson turned to Barnes. "The only thing we can do right now is keep that Spino from sinking our boat before we get to dry land." Barnes gave him a skeptical look. "Do you have any IDEA how to do that, exactly?" Dodgson opened his mouth to speak, then hung his head with an annoyed sigh of exasperation. "...no." "Perfect..." Barnes said, just as the ship jerked violently a second time as the swimming Spino rammed into the side of the boat yet again...

Rick's eyes widened at the sound of the growl before he found himself falling onto the deck again from the second impact. He heard Dodgson mention that the attacker was a Spinosaurus and that they couldn't do anything except try to prevent the dinosaur from sinking the ship. Getting himself back to his feet, he briefly glanced at his Carbine and knew that unless the creature was shot in the eye, the gun wasn't going to do anything significant to something that large...

Persephone nearly fell off her feet from both impacts, using the railing on the side of the boat to keep her up. A Spinosaurus? This was going to be alot of fun... The womanreached into her backpack, then began to attach together th bits of her crossbow. She didn't want to use up her magnum ammo just yet... if she coud fire an arrow into Spiny's eye... She attached the components as fast as she could, before putting in an arrow sharp enough to cut through elephant hide into the slot...

Riley grabbed on to whatever he could when the creature rammed the boat either times, before unslinging his AK-47 and loading it. "Whatever it is, it's getting a bullet right in the eye for this!" He shouted...

"You make it sound like you COULD shoot it in the eye," Barnes growled. "Our best option is to aim for the head anyway. Make your shots count, but don't waste ammo on tiny targets! Persephone, back away from the rail--"

He stopped midsentence as the water next to the boat exploded outward, a massive head emerging from the river. It was crocodilian in shape, with a long slender snout, two short, triangular crests protruding from just above its fierce yellow eyes. It was had to tell whether its scales were naturally a drab brown, or if they were merely caked with mud from a semi-aquatic lifestyle. The head was at least six feet long, and the long jaws opened in a mighty screech, high-pitched and rattling (at least compared to Sue's deep bellow), lunging for the nearest human, which happened to be Persephone...

There was little time for her to react, but Persephone used that time well. She ran to the side and away from the railing, both barely dodging the lunge of the Spinosaurus and getting herself out of it's attack range. She whirled around, crossbow in hand, and fired an arrow at the beast's yellow eye. Spinosaurus was also one of her favorites, but that didn't mean she was ready to be killed by one...

The shot went wide, piercing the creature's crest, which didn't seem to do much except make the Spinosaurus hiss in irritation, the head already disappearing back underwater...

Rick had been readying himself to shoot at the Spinosaur's head once it had emerged, but the creature quickly brought it's head back underwater after it's attack had missed and Persephone's crossbow bolt hit it in one of the crests. The merc waited for the Dinosaur to raise it's head up again, glancing at the sides of the boat in anticipation for water being throw up upon the head emerging. If hitting it in the eyes wasn't going to be easy, then shooting as close to them as possible or possibly hitting the nose would have to do...

Hiero sprang to the center of the vessal and rumaged into his pack, looking over the materials and thinking in his head on what to use, Grenades, possible but only if it goes off right next or possibly inside and I don't like thinking of what I'd have to do to get it to. Incindiary was a better choice but of course he brought the trip mines not the actual grenade type. Flashbangs? no that wouldn't really help if it started whipping its head around in blind pain. That left the semtex satchel charge, if it stuck this time maybe he could detonate it and blow its head off. Hiero almost smiled at the idea, before a very ominous sense of dread filled the pit of his stomach.

Max hadn't even gotten a shot off by the time the son of a ***** went back under the water. He aimed his shotgun, making sure to avoid the edge of the boat, and waited. It was really all he could do...

"Ahh, ****!" Riley shouted while aiming his gun in the air, firing a couple of shots just as the spinosaur went back below the water, not hitting a single thing. "Just our damned luck!"

The boat rocked violently yet again, and Barnes sprinted to the command cabin, sticking his head in and shouting angrily, "Can't this thing go any faster?!" Jenkins was desperately trying to keep the watercraft under control. "Of course not! It's a research vessel, not a motorboat! We're going to need to get to the marshes! It's too shallow for the Spino, and then we can hightail it to the military base! Just keep her distracted, and I'll handle the piloting!" Barnes glowered at the scientist, confused that he had come up with a plan so quickly, but quickly shrugged it off when the boat shook again. Having bigger things to worry about (literally), he sprang back onto the deck and barked orders.

"Spray and pray, people! Keep that thing focused on you and not the boat for a little longer!" As if on cue, the Spinosaurus' head rose again, this time on the other side of the ship, screeching furiously. One unfortunate merc spun to take aim, but the dinosaur's powerful jaws had already snapped the man up, engulfing his entire upper body. Barnes desperately fired on the Spino, but the creature barely flinched, disappearing underwater with its feebly struggling prey...

As the beast rose, its eye was nearly blasted in by a lucky shot from Max's shotgun. The pllet shots struck its eyebrow ridge and the bottom part of its eyesocket, and one pellet skimmed the eye itself. As Max righted himself again, he desperately tried to avoid the edges....

Riley stumbled and fell down, nearly rolling off of the boat itself. He got himself back up, covered in blood from the dead merc, who was near him...
