David tapped his fingers on the car door after he completed his inspection. The key was in the ignition, a strange red tag hanging from it. He stepped back and said simply "Needs gas". He headed over to the far wall, plucking a canister of gas from the ground and shaking it. The liquid inside the dull red container sloshed about and David nodded before heading back over to the Humdinga. He flipped open the small circular panel at the vehicle's rear, pouring gas down the fuel line...

Satisfied with the few tools and utility items he'd picked up, Jacob moved to eye the vehicle more closely. mounted over the rollcage and framework of the vehicle was a turret, upon which was an M240 machine gun. narrowing his eyes slightly, he jumped into the vehicle, rising up through the turret and checking the weapon. Whatever attack had hit the base, this vehicle was not involved in it. The ammo-belt being fed into the vehicle was still completely loaded. Not a single bullet was missing. turning on his flashlight, he opened the gun's feed tray, checking it for damage or rust. Blowing into it, he cleared what little dust was there, moving the ammunition in place aside to make sure things were in order. After a few seconds of checking, he replaced the ammo and loaded the weapon. it was in almost perfect condition, in spite of the time it had been unused. Then again, it's an M240 he thought. He'd consider something was wrong if it WASN'T in good condition. "Everything seems to be in order. Nearly done with the fuel?" he asked...

Almost on cue, the last of the golden liquid exited the container a split second after Jacob spoke. "Now I am" he said as he set the empty container down. He then looked at the large doors, taking note of a length of silver chain with large links fed into a pulley system. A crank just beside the end of the ramp seemed to be what opened it. "Charmingly low tech. I guess this place was meant to be a contingency for power outages" David commented, walking over to the crank and turning it, the chains rattling as the doors slowly pulled apart...

Jacob meanwhile, started up the engine of the vehicle, before checking his equipment, making sure everything was in order, refilling his clips with ammunition while he did so. Note to self. Next job I go on, bring an infrared scope instead of an NV scope he thought. "How are you behind a wheel?" he asked, trying to decide whether to drive or man the gun...

"I once had to navigate a minefield in a jeep with the rear tires blown out. I guess the fact I still have all my limbs speaks for itself" David said flatly as he finished opening the doors, the metal barriers locking in place with a mighty thud, the cables and ropes swaying from the vibrations...

"That or you had a good supply of POWs to poke and prod in front of the car" said Jacob with a chuckle, climbing up to man the gun...

"Well that would be one hell of a way to paint your car" David replied before jogging back over to the Humdinga, opening the driver's door and sitting on the black leather seat. He pulled the door closed, locked it and then pressed down on the gas pedal. The engine growled and the wheels turned, the vehicle lunging forward into the water, its angled front end dispersing the water around it. At the touch of a button, the wheels were retracted, lifting off to the sides and locking just over the waterline. Shortly afterwards, the jet propulsion came to life, a low, droning hum sounding off as the Humdinga exited the garage, a plume of white foam trailing behind it and off its sides, a large wave tossing about at its front...

"Feed 'em a few buckets of black metallic paint while you're at it. You'd get a bloody brilliant paint job" commented Jacob with a chuckle. Looking onwards down the river, he considered the situation. He didn't know what kind of boat the other group were using, but to carry that many people, he knew it'd likely be slower than the Humdinga. The question was, how long would it take to catch up? would they be in time?

The Humdinga seemed to skim across the surface of the water once the front end angled upwards. A thin mist formed along its smoothed underside as the amphibious vehicle powered through the water. A large spray fanned out from the rear, swaying about as David steered past floating logs and rocks that just barely poked out above the current...

Rick relaxed slightly when the boat entered the Mangrove swamp. He could see the roots on the trees closer to shore and the roots being visible meant that the water was shallow, which would certainly prevent an ambush from the water like the one the Spinosaur had managed earlier from happening. Better yet, the large number of trees would also serve as a bit of protection if a Large predator was further up on the shore line, for the trees would make it difficult to actually reach the water that the boat was moving through...

Maxwell let out a sigh of relief as they pulled into the swamp. While they sure weren't safe from anything in this hellhole, it's nice to know being ambushed is currently out of the question....

Persephone didn't have any outward reaction, but in her heart, she let out a sigh as well. Though, she still had to keep on the alert. Who knew what kinds of dangers could lurk in the mangrove swamps?

Hiero diddn't relax, despite the arrival in the mangrove, it may be hard to sneak up on them but if they got attacked and lodged against the mangrove or otherwise damaged, they would have to trudge through the water and hope they diddn't get caught.

Jenkins sighed as the boat drifted to a stop, clicking off the low-frequency emitter as it did so. As the scientist walked out of the command cabin, he nearly ran into a fuming Barnes, the soldier glaring down at him. "Alright, Doc, next time try to assure us that nothing bad will happen... don't." Jenkins swallowed nervously and gave a weak nod, and Barnes turned away.

Before the Lieutenant could storm off properly, however, a massive shape exploded from the river, charging into the mangrove swamp and straight for the boat, screeching all the way. Now completely out of the water, the Spinosaurus could be seen to have a mottled, mud-brown skin all over its body, except the gigantic sail that adorned its back, which was brighter in color, and a mix of greens and browns in a striated pattern. However, Barnes' primary concern was that the fifty-foot beast was making a beeline straight for them, and they had no time to move the boat out of the way. "Abandon ship!" he shouted, sprinting for the edge of the boat. "Get into the trees!"

As the vicious beast burst forth from the mangrove swamp, blaws readied, maw opened, and souless gaze intent on destroying the feeble boat, Maxwell was horrified. He aimed his shotgun at the beast for a quick blast of lead. he was unsure if Barnes' order was a wise move, and fired two more shots at the beast, the pellets seemnig to do little to the beast except for two pellets that hit its spines. Maxwell turned to barnes as he backpedaled.

"WHERE ABOU IS THE FUEL TANK SITUATED?" shouted Hiero holding up the satchel charge, indicating his rather obvious plan.

"Bet you Jenkins is introducing them to another one of his pets" said Jacob randomly, remembering the interaction they had with the Dilophosaur, getting the odd feeling that it wasn't the only similar creature Jenkins had...

"Clarence, Henry and Marylin...Sue. I see a ******* pattern here" David replied over the drone of the engine. As if to confirm their suspicions, debris came into view several yards down river, the Humdinga closing the distance between it and the site of the Spinosaur attack in a short amount of time. Bits of the deck and other loose items now rested on the water, drifting back and forth until David and Jacob shot by, scattering the remnants of the scene...

Rick fired a burst from his Carbine at the Spinosaur's head while backpedaling, then turning and running in the direction of the edge of the vessel that the others were heading for. He couldn't believe that, despite having an eye taken out, the Spinosaur had actually continued to pursue them. The merc had underestimated the persistance of the creature, thinking that it would have acted similair to how a modern animal might if it recieved a wound like a lost eye...

Persephne as well was backpedaling as fast as her legs could carry her away from the charging piscivore and toward where the rest of he grop was headig. He backpack zipped up, she fired off an arrow aimed at te beas's had, before outright turning and leaping over the railing toward the mangroves, away from the Spinosaurus. She was in no posiion to question Barnes orders, and right now, she wasn't ready to end her say on this earth prematurely...
