"...You're joking" said Jacob as he turned back round, his enhanced vision locking on the person who had approached them, most likely hiding behind a rock through most of the fight and thus going unnoticed...

"For once I wish I was" Kane said flatly. Coming back to his senses, he added "This isn't a human. It just looks like one but...its make up is completely different from us. Its a native of this world...meaning it could be dangerous. But just as likely it could be friendly..."

"Dangerous? Me? Well you are right about that, but don't worry I don't see you as a food source so I will not attack unless I feel that my life is in danger and I hope you will keep the same attitude towards me, let us talk peacefully. For even a Vampire like I would go insane without the occasional conversation."Grim stated.

Grim then removes two large daggers from his jacket and drops them. He then shows he has no weapons on his person.

"So I have made my move, what will you do humans?"

Jacob's gaze shifted to his comrade, wondering how he'd decide to respond. Though he was capable of leading, he was security on this job, not the project leader. In the end, the decision fell to Kane. I don't like this. Too...precise with his wording. Like it was planned in advance...He could easily be distracting us from a bigger threat. Hell, assuming he's not ******* with us and actually IS a vampire, that's a good enough reason to be cautious anyway came Jacob's voice on Kane's comm system, to ensure he wouldn't be overheard by the 'vampire'...

"He knows what we are even though you've been augmented and I'm in this suit...no reaction at all. He even knows our language. As if we're the most normal things in this realm...which may or may not be true considering what we've seen, but we are in no way a common sight" Kane replied over the relay, agreeing with Jacob's mistrust. "Lets see how this plays out..."

"Ah ha!" he said out loud, his voice seeming to be more distorted the louder he spoke. "Well, I myself am unarmed and my companion...well his body is his weapon! But never fear, I don't think he'll attack you. In fact, I think we're more inclined to ask you a few questions if you can spare us the time!"

"well I have all the time in the world, and immortality is boring without moments like these to Pass the time" Grim smiles in a non threatening way.
" Still rare to see technology in these parts, even rarer to meet humans, and I use the words humans lightly as from my experience humans are primitive creatures only capable of the most basic activity. You smell human under that armour though so I will leave it at that."Grim mused.
"And his body is his weapon? It would appear I have met a more interesting group than I had bargained for. So what is are questions?"

Kane brought up the line with Jacob and said "Well if we are to take him as a viable source of information, then there is a distinct possibility the time distortion phenomenon in this portal is...extensive. To the point where things from different time periods are coexisting in this world...would explain our encounter with that robot earlier. However...the vampire claims to smell me inside an airtight environmental suit, which could imply a level of insanity..."

"Where do you live around here? Are you the only one of your kind?" he asked the vampire conversationally so as to keep it from suspecting what was going on between him and the cyborg soldier.

Right. Let's just keep the Felicity's sensors watching for threats. I'd rather not be vaporised by bloody HAL without prior warning responded Jacob across the comm. Visibly, the man crossed his arms, his blades deactivating, the only sign they had done so being that the distortion in the air faded...

"I live where ever I can, staying in one place to long is how you die around this world, believe me vampires and Tigrex are nowhere near the strongest threats to life" Grim opens his cloak to show a scar reaching from his left shoulder to just where the right leg of his trousers start.
"That was because I let my guard down for a split second, normally I can heal most damage instantly but this creature attacked with acid even now I have to keep healing until the acid loses effect. I would have killed that Tigrex if I could afford to use the blood I have."
"And as far as I know I am the only vampire of my type left. Same creature that gave me this scar killed the rest of my family. Ironic , in any other world we would have been the apex hunters, but here we are just pray for acid welding monsters"
"I have a small question for you, how come the human that I can smell is a scent from a long time ago? It's as if people have touched the suits but no scent is escaping to add to it, I can barely notice it but if you are trying to hide your scent then be careful some creatures have more advanced noses than I do."

All this information was being stored away for later parsing, but from what Kane could grasp on the spot, this world was unlike anything known to science. It wasn't some planet on some far off plane. It was as if it were a collection of many worlds and times, mashed together to create this strange collection of creatures and landscapes.

Advanced lifeforms were a given, making Kane's initial finds in Felicity ironic and downright paltry in comparison to what he was recording now. Intelligent life was all but confirmed in this rift world, perhaps even resulting in sprawling metropolises and other settlements. If so, Kane and Jacob in addition to the secondary exhibition were on the threshold of a new age!

"Well, that would be because this armor is kept within very specialized containment procedures, to keep it in the best condition it can be" Kane answered. He looked out his peripherals to Jacob, the man standing just at the edge of his vision. "Would you be willing to show us around this area? It would be useful for our studies" the scientist broached, seeing the value of a guide in what was clearly a hostile environment. He activated Felicity's AI Defense systems, the turrets mounted on the plateau panning the darkening skies above...

"Sure,Not as if there is anything better to do. My name is Grim Bartholomew Grantz by the way." Grim replaces the daggers into their scabbards.

" This area I named the Blaze Desert due to the sun very rarely setting for more than a few hours . As for the life around here reptiles do pretty well the Tigrex is about as big as can survive around here due to less large prey however a lot of the small to human sized reptiles have venom that kills or paralyses, even in that armour they could be a threat.Robotic animals and full machines don't survive well out here due to the heat frying their circuits making them easy to kill, The real interesting thing about the desert though is the vast cave systems and old ruins. Far to the west is the area that I prefer to hunt, The forest."

" If there is anything else you need to know then you can ask.But if that is all you need for now then we can start moving. This is Tigrex territory and one of them is bad but a family would be worse.I do have another question though, How do you keep your suits powered, Without some sort of cooling system you guys would fry, so you are you using some sort of power source?"

"I technically am my own suit" said Jacob calmly. "Turns out when you build a machine to match the human body in design, its performance increases drastically. Beyond that however, I can't say. Part of the contract with my employer" he added as he glanced out across the desert, making sure he would catch approaching threats, one tracking reticule watching the vampire, just in case...

"To explain how my suit works, I'd have to explain the science behind something called a Relativity Coil. However doing so would entail spanning numerous fields of study including but not limited to quantum physics..." Kane replied, adding thereafter "Though I must say, temperature control in this favors the chilly side..."

He appeared to be standing idle in the large suit of armor, but in actuality his fingers were soaring across the keyboard for an on board computer in the custom NT-SB suit. Its screen bathed him in a soft blue light, relaying the vampire's warning back to Felicity.

"Interesting even though I doubt I will ever understand fields of science other than biology and basic chemistry." Grim laughed to himself. " So where would you like me to take you ? The forest where you will have the opportunity to see many forms of life?Or the Ruins where you may discover something of this places history?" Grim lifted his head into the air and sniffed a few times watching out for any unwanted attention.

Kane hummed thoughtfully, the sound leaving his suit sounding like static. "A bit of archeology would be a good place to start. We already have an idea as to how...diverse...the creatures of this world can be. On the other hand, we haven't seen any sign of civilization or complex structures yet" he said. He turned his head to look at Jacob. "What would you recommend?" he asked.

"Stick to ruins. Trust me when I say you don't want to go into a jungle filled with things that could reportedly put a 'tigrex' to shame. Went through a similar hellhole once. I'm not eager to go through another one too soon if I can avoid it" said Jacob as he drew his assault rifle...

"Then it's settled. Lead the way Grim!" Kane said with a nod. He returned his arms back into the NT-SB's large arm control mechanism, the hulking protective suit flexing as he did so, preparing for the venture ahead...

" Sounds like a great idea"Grim stares to the south and suddenly his eyes glow red extending his vision to multiple times that of any human.
" The way is clear except for one large Raptor. To be honest I need some fresh blood soon and Raptors are an easy but delicious kill, I am going to run ahead and get rid of it whilst you guys follow behind.Just follow straight south and we can meet up."Grim did not wait for an answer, He ran close to his top speed of 90 mph as he starts to slow down he removes the daggers from his scabbards, the glint of the metal attracting the large Raptors attention. They slowly circled each other sizing each other up.

The red dust was kicked into the air, a cloudy trail swept across the dunes by a dry, nightly wind. Kane followed the figure with his gaze until he was far off in the distance. A box appeared on Kane's HUD, the vampire magnified by telescopic visuals as he stared down the saurian creature. "I think we may have befriended a vampiric cheetah in a humanoid body, Mr. Spencer" he remarked, looking back to the the cyborg solider.

"Perhaps. That speed isn't too difficult to achieve, mind you. I'm capable of similar velocities if the need arises. I just don't see the point when my mission is to keep an eye on you" said Jacob as he walked in the direction of the Vampire and his saurian foe. "The last time I saw one of those, it was blown up, engulfed in flames and buried in debris.....time before that, it had a dagger sticking out of it's skull" he added as he eyed the Raptor in the distance...
