Yukari looked over at where Damian was going. Curious of what he was doing, she followed him into the storage room. Whatver he was up to, she wanted to know... for a scientist, anything was fair game.

Damian soon entered the storage room. It was pretty boring to look at; boxes lay scattered about, which presumably held the food rations and ammo supplies. But one thing in particular caught Damian's eye; at the back of the sotrage room was a slim, metallic door. Curious, Damian walked deeper into the sotrage room, and soon, slid open the door tat lay ahead of him.

What he foudn hsocked him.

Rigth before his eyes sat 2 unused suits, each roughyl the proportions of Yukari and Rebin. Inside, sppecial weapon racks lay, each with a label for each of the party members.

Now Damian felt like a moron. These had been here the whole time, and none of them had even bothered checking!

Looking from behind Damian, Yukari found it hard to resist hitting herself as she saw the equipment. These were for her and Rebin... and neither of them had realized they had such equipment for them. Now she felt tempted to go wake up Rebin and tell him of this...

Here, she stopped herself, and went back over to the hologram display to look at it. No... she wouldn't tell Rebin. Atleast not yet. She had a few priorities of her own to get done first...

Damian decided to wati until the morning to tell the others about the supplies. Hopefully, they wouldn't need it in the night... though he knew where it was, so even if they did, he could just show them where it was. Yawning, Damian headed back into the stasis chamber, not noticing Yukari being absent from hers, before he went his own and clsoed it up for the night. They would need all the rest they could get....

Several hours later, the horizon was just beginning to gain a luminous aura, the faint orange glow of the world's sun beginning to tinge the horizon, though not high enough yet to be visible itself. Darkness still reigned, primarily, and things had grown eerily quiet within the facility in the distance...

With the dawn coming in, Yukari's stasis tank was the first to open up. The lady of science stepped out, yawning and rubbing her eyes. What she had planned for last night had been ruined by a sudden overwhelming urge to get sleep, so she had been the last one to get into the stasis tank. Now looknig around, she noticed that both Damian and Rebin were still asleep in theirs. Wait. A pencil-thin smile was on her face. She still had a chance. Perhaps if she could pilot the APC over to that building and take a look around herself before the others awoke. It was a funny thing, curiosity was. Just what was it that had attacked that base, and were there any survivors? What Damian said last night was sound, but the possibilities for Yukari outweighed the risks. She was a woman of science, and as such, her search for knowledge and answers overrode personal safety. Besides, it would only take alittle bit or so. She'd be back in safely, take the APC back over to where Damian had parked it, and no one would suspect a thing...... Rebin probably wouldn't wake up for another hour or so, but she didn't know Damian's sleep patterns...

Damian was still resting fairly calmly in his stasis tank. It had been a long day, and the man had gotten a decent night's sleep, despite the stress of the day. He needed all the rest he could get, before the next inevitably hectic day...

Damian was still asleep. Good. Looking over to make certain, Yukari was quick to get ready. She went back over to the storage room took off her lab clothes and donned on her suit. In this place, there was no need for the secretary look. It was just far more practical and safe to wear the protective suit. With the rather light and form-fitting suit on, she looked over her weaponry. There was a sniper rifle that bore more resemblance to a railgun than the average sniper rifle, and a small handgun next to it. Good... Liking what she saw, she went over to the controls of the APC, and took over. With her weapons ready, she began to pilot the APC over toward the base...

The base was more or less as it had been left. The fire still raged on its roof, though it had spread in the last few hours. The base was apparently made of very sturdy, non-flammable materials, as the fire had only spread over the roof, and it seemed to be withstanding the flames well; a trait of the most modern military bases back home. However, fuel tanks meant to refuel the helicopter had been ignited as a result of the spreading blaze, leaving the entire roof of the facility roaring with golden fire. The doorways and areas where people would usually move within the facility were covered in bullet holes, jagged gashes carved into the walls in places and what looked like blood smearing the walls in some places. Its state suggested a grisly fate for all who had once occupied it...

Gunfire had all but ceased within the base itself, leaving a disturbing silence in its wake. With the vast shadow of the facility cast over its entrance and a fair distance ahead of it, it was hard to dispel the feeling something was very wrong about the entire thing. For one, there didn't seem to be an explanation for an entire military base being here in the first place, much less one that seemed to be a blend of ancient and futuristic designs. While the overall layout was reminiscent to early 20th century strongholds, the metallic sheen across the facility's walls and surfaces, and the various shimmering lights, mechanised turrets and technologically advanced security cameras, burnt though some of them were, indicated this base to be at least as advanced as anything back in the group's home world. The nature of the damage that covered the facility was another thing entirely. There was no thing known to any of the members of the two exploration teams that could inflict this sort of damage...

Re: Temporal Rift RPG

Into the late hours of the night, Kane had activated Felicity's auto piloting and fine tuned the scanners for enhanced rift activity, to be alerted when the tell tale signs of a portal tether had been discovered. He retreated to his personal chambers aboard the ship thereafter.

The craft soared through the air on engines three, a reverse triangle of light to any observer on the ground, stars passing overhead with a distant screech from high in the sky.

All was right with a world that was anything but. Relatively so at least, for Felicity's flight through the night continued uninterrupted until the dawning of a new day.

Kane was laying on a fold-out bed that extended from the interior wall of Felicity, secured onto it while he slept by safety harnesses. Three rows of dimmed lights spanned the ceiling of his room, casting a dull gray tone over his quarters. Aside from his bed, he had his storage space and a small desk, the room being a combination of bedroom, office and study, with his major work area housed in the cockpit. That was to say nothing about the systems available to him in his bedding chamber however.

He was wearing light one-piece pajamas that matched his OWL uniform, orange and black though made of a sleeker material that shared the strange reflective quality as his formal suit. His uniform was visible in a tube-fixture attached to the wall his bed flipped out from that was vacuum sealed. Inside, there was a ring of small red lights around the circumference of the tube that gave the glass a dim red glow. The suit was cleaned and repaired on a molecular level; ready for another day of work.

A metal plate in the wall popped out of place a few centimeters then split into two, exposing a console just off to Kane's side. It cast a light blue glow over his sleeping form then chimed loudly.

Kane's eyes parted as he turned his head to the wall, looking up at the display. Various anomalous readings just under 30 miles ahead of the ship. Under the charts and graphs was atmospheric data: temperature, wind speeds and the likes. Another small box showed an image feed outside, compensating for a lack of windows.

The spires extended for miles in this region of the rift, some having bridges branching out to other spires of stone with all sorts of plant species identified by Felicity. They were like mini-ecosystems stretching up into the sky rather than spreading out over the hilly terrain that was a rich emerald in color.

The light of the dawn was broken by the monolithic towers, casting individual light rays over the landscape a halo of color visible in some cases. Over the horizon, there was not just one burning orb rising into the sky...but two, one much smaller than its celestial companion and was more of a reddish tint. It lay to the upper right side of the larger star in the Rift World's sky...

With the APC stopping by the enterance to the factory, Yukari saw the damage done to the base. It was, to say the least, awe-inspiring, and frightening. As the APC landed, she went back into the storage room to grab her weapons. With the Sniper Rifle hung over her shoulder by a strap, and with the handgun in hand, she ventured out of the vehicle cautiously. For a moment, she was beginning to rethink her decision. Should she wait for the others to wake up, then head on in together? No, science didn't wait for anyone. Besides, whatever it was that attacked the base, no doubt it was gone by now. Still exercising the upmost caution, the woman ventured on in through a door. This blend of old and new... it fascinated her...

Banners. That was the first thing that would stand out on the walls of this base. two long red and black banners hung on either side of the main gate, forming a cross made of 3 stripes along each main 'limb' of the pattern, a white circle forming its centre. In the middle of the white circle was the characteristic reversed Swastika. This was a Nazi facility. A regime that had been wiped out in the second World War, somehow stood here, a combination of both modern and old designs, the falcon of the Nazi standard hanging proudly, almost arrogantly, over the gate, despite the fact the once formidable facility it heralded now lay in ruins. red lights flashed within the facility beyond the gates as a siren rang out over the base. And yet, there was no sign of a single living soul anywhere. wreckage covered most of the ground between the gates and the facility bordered within, and trails of blood led into the facility through various doorways in various sectors of the building...

Jacob meanwhile, sat at his desk within his own room. the chamber was small and utilitarian, though Jacob didn't mind, having lived with such conditions, if not worse, for most of his life. It kept things simple, just the way he liked it. The bed folded out of the wall on one side of the room, with a Molecular Maintenence Chamber set beside it. Across from the bed, in one corner of the room, was the man's desk, which folded, again, out of the wall, facing the bed and with the door standing in the opposite corner of the room. His trenchcoat hung horizontal within the Molecular Maintenance Chamber, being cleared of impurities and rebuilt wherever damages had occurred, though Jacob knew that little harm would have come to the clothing thanks to the powerful molecular structure of the fabric. Dim lighting kept the chamber's environment soothing, helping to calm the soldier's energetic, if somewhat irritable nerves.

A desk lamp shimmered across his desk, extending upwards out of the desk's surface in a cylindrical formation and unfolding to overhang it slightly, casting a moderately powerful white light over the work space. Interestingly enough, the light from the lamp was directed in such a way that very little of the light was scattered in any direction other than the desk itself, meaning that, to anyone looking at it, it seemed to be very dim, if operational at all, though the desk itself was very well lit. to one side of the desk was a coaster with a cup of what could only be coffee, its rich smell alone enough to keep one awake, although the cyborg barely needed it. Beside the cup, his handgun waited, the weapon ever ready for whatever task it had to carry out. In front of him, an electronic clipboard flowed through a long record of information, light orange characters rolling along the dark orange, almost black background. He had had another communication with Atlas during the night, and he had been given a list of things to investigate and study during his stay here. Most of it was stuff he could manage himself, or, at the very least, could understand with little trouble, as long as his life and experience had been in the technically complex. There were a few things however, that he was unfamiliar with, mostly related to the Relativity Coil technology and it's applications. Some data packets had been sent to him as well, to be uploaded onto Felicity's data banks. They included schematics, technical manuals and other things that would be of use to Kane should he ever need more information on the technology than he was taught. With Kane's recorded skills in improvisation, this would likely prove useful in the future.

As a metallic plate slid aside on the far wall, a high pitched, though gentle tone drew his attention, a duplicate of the information reaching Kane at that same moment. It seemed that, wherever it was they were supposed to go, they had arrived. Getting up, he turned towards the door, making his way to the cockpit...

All the blood on the ground might have made someone else feel queasy and uneasy, but Yukari barely paid attention to that. No, she was more focused on everything else. Nazi flags and the destruction. It seemed so odd, seeing a Nazi flag outside of text books and old documentaries for the first time. But why was a Nazi building here? Had it been torn apart by some rift in another dimension and brought here? Were there any other survivors? This mixture of new and old technology made no sense... unless... Slowly, Yukari made her way deeper and deeper into the factory, the overall eerieness of the environment starting to settle into her mind.

Inside of the APC, Damian's eyes soon opened up. The stasis tank that held the bear of a man within soon opened with a hiss of hydraulics and a cloud steam. With an audible yawn, Damian stepped out of the cloud of steam, soon bending over to pick up his helmet, before he secured it to his body armor. Soon, the burly man noted the absence of Yukari from her stasis tube. Confused, the man thought that, perhaps she had decided to raid some rations for breakfast. Sighing audibly from udnerneath his helmet, the big man soon headed into the storage room. But, she wasn't in there either, shrugging his shoulders, the man soon went to the door at the back of the Storage room, and opened it, but suddenly noticed Yukari's things were missing.

"Oh, no...." Damian growled udner his breath. "Don't tell me she did what I think she did...."

Quickly gathering his new supplies- a fancy new hammer to replace his odl one, a new sidearm, and some new bombs-, Damian quickly ran into the main chamber, and, upno seeing the APC's new location, headed into the stasis chambers, aiming to wake Rebin up. This was not good.... not good at all.

a long trail of blood ran through the hallway beyond the door, disappearing deeper into the facility. On either side of the narrow passageway, numerous doors stood, some closed, others ajar, faint white light glowing through some, though most greeted Yukari only with darkness. Small red emergency lights spun on the walls, wrapped in a protective cage to prevent damage, leaving hourglass-like patterns on the wall as a result of their constant rotation. Another vicious set of gashes clawed across the wall on the right side of the passageway, cleaving right through a doorway, hacking it into 4 pieces, the two middle portions of the door barely hanging onto the hinge that they shared. within the gaps of the doorway, a blackish slime oozed downwards in sticky strings, the metal having corroded significantly around it, perhaps owing to its stability on the weakened hinge. In spite of the damage however, the slime seemed completely harmless at this point. Further down the hallway, the trail of blood rounded a corner, disappearing down another corridor...

A pneumatic hiss accompanied the opening of the mechanized doorway, the rectangular entrance sliding down into the floor with the scientist in uniform rushing out of it and down the hallway, the door rising back into place and shutting.

The floor panels of the Felicity were black with orange strips of light running along the bottom of its orange walls. The path to the cock pit was ingrained into his memory. As such, it was not long before he was seated back in his chair, strapped in and going through the many screens that were waiting for his viewing.

Long range imaging revealed what the source of the alert was: a pyramid of metal, black and silver with green highlights visible from miles away, glowing brightly with some form of alien power. These highlights led into huge vat-like structures on all sides of the four sided structure. Instead of a tapered point, the pyramid flattened abruptly and upon this platform stood an imposing hexagonal tower, the construct looking more like a giant gear extension than an actual structure. This was enforced by the fact that the thing was visibly turning, slowly but still noticeable.

Surrounding this unnatural mechanical wonder was the spires of rock, the trees and plants being buffeted by otherworldly wind.

Jutting out from the gear-tower were other struts and spires, crackling with malachite energies which jumped into the sky...into an ominous temporal storm much like what was on Earth right now...

And this was only one of the potential portal tethers.

The slime on the doorway got Yukari's attention. Quickly, the scientist moved over to it, gloves on and putting her handgun into a pocket on the suit. "What do we have here?" Yukari asked to herself as she reached into a diffrent pocket and brought out a small bag. She had gone ahead to see what the suit held before she had left the APC, so she knew what she had. She was about to grab some of it, when she felt a strange sensation. She was curious, yes... but she was getting a bad feeling from this slime, like it wasn't to be touched. That, and the heavy corrosion on the door wasn't a good sign. Sighing, she turned to follow the blood trail again. Maybe when comnig back in to reinvestigate the place with Damian and Rebin, she'd take a sample of it. Stopping at the edge of the corner and slowly peaking around... The damage she was seeing, was leaving an impression on her, that whatever did this, was definitely not to be trifled with.

Jacob soon walked out of his own chamber, putting on his coat as he went, his weapons already in place. Walking into the cockpit area, he caught sight of the massive structure on the visual feeds. "Bloody hell....You mean to tell me we have to destroy THAT?" he said, taken by surprise by the sight. He had some heavy explosives with him, but if they had to take out three of those, he was certain he would need more potent equipment. Had he acquired the blueprints for the structure beforehand, he'd be able to plan where to plant explosives and how much he'd need. But there were no blueprints he could find that would explain to him the layout of this place...

As if in response to the proximity, the sludge on the door began to hiss faintly, barely audible, though it was sufficient to warn that it was still active, and eating away at the door's structure, though it fell silent once more once Yukari moved away a sufficient distance. Round the corner, the blood trail stopped beneath a panel on the wall, stained in blood, no doubt belonging to the alarm. The source of the blood however was nowhere to be seen. The ceiling of the passage way was damaged, with square panels that would usually conceal the wires and ducts having fallen through a jagged tear and fallen in a pile on the floor, crackling cables hanging a couple of feet out of the ceiling as lights in the hallway flickered on and off unpredictably. More of the massive gouges could be seen across the walls, along with more blood spatter and blood trails, one leading into a room to the side, this blood trail seeming considerably more grievous than the relatively minor blood-spatter that Yukari had followed thus far...

"Boy oh boy..." Kane said in response, just as bewildered. That thing was enormous! Nothing Jacob had on him would be able to bring it down! Not even Felicity's fortification guns would do lasting damage on it. "Well...it looks like we'll be doing a bit of destructive archeology today!" he said in an unusually cheery way.

That was because where as others would be daunted by the prospect of destroying such a thing, Kane was not. He knew about the Relativity Coil, about applied meta-physics.

He knew the basics of how he could bring down the monolith...but it was all theory.

Theory that would be put the ultimate test...

"How do you propose we destroy the bloody thing?" Inquired Jacob as he crossed his arms, already having a rough idea of what they'd use, the man holding what looked like a silver pen in hand, though both ends were closed off...
