"I do not know the specifics. What I do know is, shortly after the Wustenfuchs arrived in the garage the internal defenses were destroyed while they were inactive...and something attacked us soldiers. The result is all the gore and...what the Streitaxt has just eliminated." Private explained solemnly.

"I see....And vhat are you not telling me?" asked Dietrich calmly as he pieced together the incident silently, trying to figure out how his army and bases had fallen to ruin so fast...

"The thing that started it all...it was on the tank. It was some kind of slime we all thought was mud...we were going to send the Streitaxt through the cleansing station but then it released some kind of...spore." the private proceeded to say. "They were large...spiky things which punctured the suits of the others and...poisoned them. Soon after they became...monsters. I fled into the facility as it was being overtaken by the creatures, where I was able to reactivate the power grid but not much else."

"...I see. What of the one eyed beast? Their leader? Did you see it?" asked Dietrich as he held his pistol in hand, wary in case there was a threat that could turn up too close for the Streitaxt to attack safely...

"I did not see such a creature." Private shuffled in place, uneasy that the...ooze and its subsequent creations could have a leader figure. "What is going on here, Commander? What does this all mean?" the soldier inquired.

"We are all that is left of the Expeditionary Army. Everyone else has been killed by these....abominations" explained Dietrich, his tone bitter, the last word being all but spat out, as if it were some vile poison. "Which leads me to my last question;" He added just as he took aim at the man, pistol trained on the soldier's face, the Commander eyeing him through the emotionless golden glow of his gas mask's lenses. "Why is it that you do not register as human on any of the sensors?"...

"I have escaped the fate of our peers with my life intact...but not my humanity, Commander. My suit's protective layering was damaged and I had sustained a dosage of this...taint...before the micro-barriers could assemble. I stayed with them for as long as I could before I was forced to run...and in that time my body has...morphed. My suit -this helmet- it has become my flesh..." Private answered, dropping his gaze. "It is why I would prefer if you called me by my rank. I am no longer the Artyom you knew."

Damian wasn't really sure what to say about this poor man's fate. He had.... fused to his suit? That seems... horribly painful. Damian did not bother thinking on the details.... all he could think was the terrible suffering this poor man had gone through.

"That's... that's horrible, sir..." Damian said solemnly. "I'm sorry that this plague put you through such torture."

"Scheiße..." muttered the Commander lowly, mind processing the situation as he ordered a rapid secondary scan to verify. It was not long before the results confirmed that the uniform and the soldier wearing it had become a single, inseparable piece. The implications were disconcerting. "My condolences, Private...Take note of this, Damian. That fate may vell befall you and your comrades if you let your guard down in this dimension" said Dietrich after several moments of thought. A series of chittering sounds could be heard down the hallway leading to the barracks, and it was made clear the creatures from the upper levels had found a way down. "I believe it's time ve left this place, no?" he asked, as the thick, heavily armoured door to the interior of the Streitaxt hissed, shifting outwards before folding downwards, forming a ramp up into the vehicle, which Dietrich swiftly ascended as the tank's engine roared menacingly...

"Do not pity me, stranger. My plight was nothing compared to what my comrades endured in their last moments, and irrelevant to the hell that awaits us all." Private replied. "I take solace knowing I fought for as long and as hard as I could, even as my body was made a toy of this dimension's corrupting influence."

The private turned after saying his words, obediently following after his commander as he would before; as a soldier to be led by his superior officer.

"Mind if I hitch a ride...?" Damian said in a joking tone, before he, too, walked into the hulking monster of human engineering. He was going to ENJOY riding this his beast!...

As the trio entered the vehicle, the hatch rose back into position, sealing itself once more. As it did so, the vehicle's internal lighting activated, long white bulbs in the ceiling, walls and floor revealing a dark charcoal grey interior with silver trim. The main command chamber was fittingly massive, with the rear end leading to private crew's quarters. the front end was split into an armoury and command chamber in the cockpit. 9 hexagonal monitors were arranged before the pilot in a concaved circle, and a Holographic Tac-Map/table was located behind the pilot's seat, surrounded by small stool-like chairs. Dietrich took a seat in the pilot's seat, before giving the vehicle it's orders. Immediately, a rumbling growl emerged from what must've been a gargantuan engine, the tank beginning to move forward as the entire facility trembled around it. The guns shifted and locked on incoming threats, Gatling guns spinning up as torrents of white plasma tore apart Crawlers and other abominations converging on their location. And ahead of them, at the entrance of the garage, two wrecked APCs sealed the path. in some places, the heat of the fire that must've engulfed them had fused the fronts of the two vehicles, creating a wrecked chevron shape that acted as a roadblock. Or at least, they would, were they acting as such to some other, lesser vehicle...

A couple of moments later, the entrance to the garage exploded in a cloud of debris as the semi-fused APCs were pushed outwards, along with a sizeable portion of the ceiling, rubble and debris raining down as the gargantuan, blood-smeared, steel-blue tank exploded from the cloud of dust, the vehicle easily dwarfing the APC and the two humans currently manning it. At that moment, the hatch hissed, opening once more and forming a ramp, Dietrich descending as he looked down from the vehicle's entrance at the APC below. "This is P-XXV Unit 0337, code name 'Vustenfuchs'. Obergruppenfuhrer Dietrich Dasler speaking. As of now, this vill be the frequency through vhich ve communicate" came Dietrich's voice through the APC's comms, the Commander having taken note of the communication frequency the vehicle operated on, and adjusted the frequency of the Wustenfuchs to match. Despite not being at the controls, it was clear he had full control over the vehicle, able to communicate through it's comms, and even capable of maintaining a perimeter scan, the tank's weapons making systematic sweeps of the surroundings, watching for threats. Down in the garage, a trail of blood and molten metal and concrete was all that remained of the vehicle's onslaught...

"You'd think it'd get the picture after getting shot, dismembered and buried a few times" said Jacob as he shot at the plant with his shotgun mid-run, whole chunks of the creature's tendrils and growths disintegrating in the fiery blue explosions that engulfed it each time a round hit. Pausing briefly, he leapt behind a small car that was blocking his path, holstering the shotgun for a brief moment as he lifted the vehicle from the ground, tossing it at the incoming tendril and crushing it, before continuing his retreat...

Yukari and Rebin were stunned by what they saw. It was a tank... the biggest tank they had ever seen.It was nearly unbelievable. "Those nazis made this kind of thing? all of a sudden, I'm glad they didn't win WW2 in our realm." Yukari muttered in shock. Indeed, the very thought of something like this being used... it sent shivers down her spine.

Rebin, on the other hand, was quick to respond to Dietrich. "Alright Dietrich. That's one heck of a sweet ride you got there. Does it come with its own living quarters and fridge?" He joked as he took control of the APC and moved it out of the way...

Damian soon emerged from within the tank as well, clutching his weaponry tightly in his hands. Standing on the ramp created from the massive tank, Damian soon radioed in to Yukari and Rebin.

"You like Dietrich's new ride, I assume?" Damian joked. "Puts our vehicle to shame, don't it?"

"As big as Twitchy is, I don't think it cares!" Kane responded as he jetted over a small ditch in the road where a large, fragmented pipe lay exposed. From it a few more tendrils extended, triangular pods splitting open. With a loud "thwwp", several biological flechettes were sent flying, large barbs which Kane narrowly avoided only to have them tink against street, a sound promptly followed by a hiss as acidic compounds ravenously ate away at the ground and rubble.

"Definitely does not care!" the young man exclaimed after taking cover behind a chipped and worn slab of concrete, kneeling. At that moment, he picked up another bio-signature...but one that did not belong to the gargantuan urban forest...

"You know, a place where you keep food in to stay fresh. It's a little something that's useful to keep foods that otherwise would spoil quickly." Rebin said, before now adressing Damian. "Um, well..."

"Yeah, it blows our APC out of the water." Yukari interrupted him. "But we'll stick with this APC. I'm sure Dieter-"

"Dietrich"

"Dietrich can handle himself in his fancy tank. After all two vehicles are better than one." Yukari said as she made sure the main door was open for Damian to get back in with...

off in the distance, the figure that was watching them slinked off undetected...

"Hehehehehe..... very true, very true indeed," Damian replied. He paused. "I shall be coming over shortly."

Damian soon cut communications with Rebin and Yukari. Indeed, 2 vehicles was much, MUCH better than one. Now, in the event one vehicle needs help, the other can aid it, and vice versa. Not only that, but, presumnig the monster tank had scanners, they'd basically have an anti-rift mutant field, one that coudl literally detect anything for a LONG distance. Damian soon walked off of the ramp, and set his feet firmly on terra firma, before he sprinted towards the APC's open door, and quickly hopped inside. He didn't want to risk getting caught by something outside....

"Oh, ya. Der kuhlschrank. Ve havn't used that technology in military applications for nearly 400 years in my vorld. Ve use...I believe you vould call them 'nutrition shots'. Injections of nutrients, vitamins and other vital materials delivered through our uniforms. Minimises distractions caused by meals, and keeps the soldiers on their feet at all times" responded Dietrich in reference to Rebin's explanation. Watching Damian dash for the vehicle, he raised a brow behind his gasmask. "Vhat's wrong, Damian? That fearful for the safety of your vehicle that you run to reclaim it from your comrades?" asked the Commander with a chuckle, not seeing the reason behind the soldier's rush, being naturally more comfortable in the Streitaxt's ability to destroy whatever threat appeared before it long before it could harm the crew...

Jacob was quick to dive for cover, though he did not do so without first leaving the new appearance with something to remember him by, the acid-barb growth receiving a plasma grenade for its trouble, the weapon bathing the plant in plasma as a shockwave blew it apart. "Oh bloody hell, what now?" he grumbled over the comm channel as he detected the incoming energy signature...

"No solid food... just shots?" Yukari said, her right eye twitching from the thought. "What kind of a sick world gets rid of the pleasure of eating solid food? THere is no joy when you cannot touch and eat an actual pizza or a hotdog."

Rebin chuckled. "Yeah, I'd perfer actual food over nutrient shots." It wasn't the idea itself that was all that surprising to him... but rather that the very idea of fridges being so obsolete by 400 years... it was mind boggling to think. He rose up out of the seat of the APC, to allow Damian to take it.
