"I see" growled Thrasher lowly, considering the Troodon's words carefully. "And what do I stand to gain from having another pack of small predators offering their assistance? What is it you can give me in such an arrangement?" rumbled the giant in a mock-sarcastic tone. He knew full well what uses a Troodon pack would be to him. But he wanted to see how willing the pack itself was in its offer to serve him. Many made such claims hoping to gain access to the plentiful game to be had within Thrasher's and his allies' borders, but few were willing to take the weight of what such an arrangement brought with it...

"Well, you three feel free to go where you like. If you need to find me, come here. This is my territory for now" growled Crusher as he turned away from them. As much as he wanted to accompany them, he had to finish marking the territory, and wash out the blood on his fangs. Ripper had long since warned him to avoid the blood and flesh of the heavily mutated. To consume it was to welcome death, madness, and destruction...

"Hey, uh...Crusher? You wouldn't happen to know anything about the mutants and what Ripper's doing, would you?" hissed Hellfire, feeling uncomfortable actually....communicating with a superpredator. "Well, he did tell me a while back that they were a spreading scourge on the island, and that their numbers were rising because of polluted lakes near the ruins. Supposedly, it's something in those lakes that does this to them. They consume it, and then can't stop. Same goes for the flesh of mutants. Consume too much, and you become dependent on it, and gradually become like them" explained Crusher as he stopped, looking over his shoulder at the trio. "Any idea why the old fart's going after them?" hissed Fatalis, noticing that Hellfire was seemingly too disturbed to ask the obvious question. "Dunno why you're so surprised. Can you imagine an island full of them? Not really surprising he's so bent on destroying them. You're not the first ones I've seen that were being pointed in random directions by him, though admittedly most of them didn't even know it. Who knows, maybe you'll run into someone else who knows more" rumbled Crusher in response...

"Well, that depends on what you need, doesn't it?" Nighteye hissed, lifting his head to stare Thrasher in the eye. "You are no fool, I know that much. You know the capabilities of my kind, no doubt. Our effectiveness in darkness, our venom, the delicious psychological effect we have on other small predators..." The Troodon pack in the trees chittered again, as if to reinforce their leader's point, the chilling sound amplified by the enclosed clearing they were in. "We can do many things for you, Thrasher. Assassinate pests, scare off intruders, and so on. While we cannot handle the Rexes who wish you harm, we can deal with most of their smaller friends. And you know as well as I that even a raptor pack that doesn't like you is still a legitimate threat to your reign under the proper circumstances..."

"Ugh. He already took care of that," Aircrest growled, looking away from the carcass of the young mutant. He shook his head, confident he will never be able to shake the images from his memory in full; the irregular, angular way flesh was stripped from bone, the way the skeleton was mangled...

"That's why I'm a part of this ragtag team. I've had more than my fair share of encounters with mutants. I've learned a few things about how they go about doing things. Ripper knows this -of course he knows this- and he wants us to go after them as much as he wants us to help Crusher get Thrasher out of power... and who knows what else he's got waiting for us in this scheme of his."

"I already have two packs in my employ who do those things, one of which are also Troodon. You will need to convince me of why it is a good idea to accept the help of your pack, when it will undoubtedly include added weight on my limited resources" hissed Thrasher, unimpressed by the answer. He knew what they COULD do. What mattered to him was what they were WILLING to do...and that, was a detail left excessively vague...

"Great" grunted Fatalis. "Everything's always a mystery with this raptor" he grumbled, Hellfire simply shrugging as he saw Crusher depart. "Eh...Nothing better to do I guess" hissed the Deinonychus, intentionally avoiding glancing towards the trikes. Predator though he was, there were things that sickened even him. Worse still, the taint of mutation was a temptation he was well acquainted to...and in light of what he recently learned...he knew he had to stop, lest he become the very same mindless monster he had seen attacking him in the past two days...

"Mystery? If he wanted to be mysterious, we would be no better off than the others he's got involved in this," Aircrest hissed somewhat glumly. "he might be letting us know a bit more about what we're doing, but we're just his means to an end," he added, looking in between the two raptors with a stern gaze. "... and maybe... maybe what he has in store isn't much better than what we have already... but damn it; if we succeed in toppling Thrasher and ridding the island of these mutant ********, who is Ripper to stand against us, am I right?" he growled with a flash of determination...

"Because we can do one thing no other Troodon pack can," Nighteye explained. Getting up, he stepped out father on the bough, into what little sunlight leaked through the canopy. "We are called the Daywalkers for a reason. The sunlight is no deterrent to us." He paused, stretching his limbs a bit before continuing. "That, and we do not require any resources from you. We have our own territory to live in, and anyone you want killed will serve as either food for us, or nests. And while I do not wish to brag, I'd like to think my pack is larger than most Troodon groups you will meet. Many tend to stick to smaller packs, you understand. Easier to stay under the radar, as it were..."

Berserker walked into the center of the clearing, sniffing the air once more. Yes, the scent was much stronger now. And very fresh. Almost as if the creature was still here...

A bellowing roar caught his attention, though. Berserker turned to his right, and saw the creature whose scent he had been following: a large Baryonyx, well in his prime, his brownish-green scales bearing the scars of rival males. The Baryonyx roared once more, having been tracking Berserker's scent as well. Berserker snarled, beating the ground with his tail. He would not be backing down. Not against an awesome challenge like this.

Berserker and the Baryonyx circled each other, snarling and snapping at each other. It was very clear at this moment: Only one of these theropods would leave this battle alive. The Baryonyx roared again, Berserker bellowing back, their war cries echoing as they charged, ready to spill one another's blood...

The pounding in Slash's head was getting worse. He could no longer hear his own

thoughts, the world infront of him seemed a huge blur, something insignificant to the pain in his leg.He could not take it anymore. He let out a roar of pain, that could be heard in the area.He started to slump to the ground. In the muddy caves where he was in,he started to feel weak, but safe, knowing that his partner was still out there. This morning they would have to get a kill from a hunt,or else they would become too weak to defend themselves, even he would come if his leg let him. While he waited for his partner to scout ahead for any predators,he started thinking to the previous day, when he collapsed on the plains, his injured foot giving out from under him.

Right across from the plains, where Slash was, there was a small forest. From the trees came a rustling. Slash was defensless,at the mercy of whatever was approaching.Suddenly he picked up a familiar scent and out of the brush sprinted RipJaw.

After the young allosaur saw that Slash was not in any trouble,he hissed with mild annoyance:
"What are you doing? Trying to get us killed?"
Slash responded with a low belch, which could be barely heard:
"The pain is unbearable and i cant continue,we will have to stay somewhere in the area"

RipJaw responded with a slight smile "Well i scouted ahead and heard this huge roar which seemed to be either from a Baryonyx or a Spinosaur, both bad news for us.Luckily i found a cave in the nearby forest we can hide in"

Night fell over the two allosaurs.

Slash lay motionless in the small cave.RipJaw was getting ready to go out hunting for the night and hopefully get some food for his wounded friend.

RipJaw hid behind some tall trees near a lake, where a herd of Gallimimus was drinking water.RipJaw was looking for his opening, waiting. For some reason he started shaking and started getting unfocused.Suddenly a monstrous roar pierced the night and froze RipJaw in his track. The poor allosaur realized only a second later, that the roar was coming from his own mouth,no doubt thanks to his wild frenzy that he could not control when he thought of a hunt/fight.RipJaw charged forward otherwise, hoping to get a Galimimus that was either sick,or did not notice the roar. But the roar was so loud, the Gali's were already 24m ahead of RipJaw when he exited his hiding place.RipJaw,not to risk an encounter with anything bigger than a Galimimus that might have heard his roar, returned back to his friend in the cave, his hunting trip bearing no results.

"Fool-said Slash emotionlesly-you might have just sealed our fate, even i heard that roar, lets just hope anything doesnt come here during the night to find us thanks to your uncontrollable stupidity".

RipJaw said silently "I will wait in the nearby trees close to the cave, incase anything comes i will catch it by surprise, the trees are big enough to conceal me."

With that RipJaw went to his guard spot, hoping nothing bad will happen during the night, and that Slash's leg would atleast let him stand and defend himself.

Pesimistic to their chances of survival, the allosaurs lay in wait, calmly.

Slash remembered all of that in one painfull moment. He was surprised that RipJaw actually told him of his failiure and not lied that he wasnt able to catch anything. He was beggining to trust the young allosaur more and more.

Fatalis snorted amusedly. "Slow down there Air-head. I think you're getting ahead of yourself with all the evil windbag crap. I mean, sure he's an *** and a know it all, but I doubt he'd actually be stupid enough to try and pull what Thrasher's doing" hissed the Raptor once he'd gained his composure. "Eh. Does it really matter? He wants Thrasher out and the mutants dealt with. Sounds good to me" added Hellfire to the conversation...

"I see...we'll see just how worthy an investment you and your kin are in time" hissed Thrasher through narrowed eyes at the Troodon, before shifting his gaze to the Dilophosaur. "Well...? What else can you tell me of this Rex?"...

"I fear you guys are sorely underestimating him... but no point in panicking about hunches and theories," Aircrest growled. He looked in the direction Crusher had headed off to, the thudding of the giant's footfalls fading just as quickly as they had arrived just moments ago. "Come on, Ripper didn't bring us all together just so he could walk off to do what Rexes do!" he barked before jogging off in pursuit.

Satisfied he had made his point, Nighteye retreated back to his shadowed perch, quite content to watch the ongoing discussion from the trees with his pack...

Now that the discussion was back on her, Twincrest realized she was in a bad position. She hadn't been able to overhear most of the conversation Crusher had with Ripper, or who it was he had been talking to. Add to the fact that Twincrest had been driven away early on, and sh ewas woefully inadequate on information. "That is all that I know at the moment. Give me an extra day or two, and I will be sure to come back with more useful information. The rex in question is a hard one to spy on..." She growled lowly...

The Baryonyx leaned to the side at the last second as Berserker came to it, then smashed its side into him,the suden hit causing the tyrannosaur to go off balance and crash onto his side. Hissing in delight, the Baryonyx lunged upon the downed Rex, claws ready to tear it apart...

Berserker snarled as he felt the Baryonyx's claws slice into his side. With an angry roar, the Tyrannosaur stood up, snapping at the Baryonyx. His jaws locked around the Baryonyx's back, pinning him down and biting down hard. Berserker tightened his grip, eager to break his opponent's spine...

"Enough. Your performance disappointed me. Your duty now will be to lead our friends, the Troodon, to the location you last saw the Rex. They will take over from there. After that, you will return here...I have...other duties...more suited to your apparently limited capabilities" hissed Thrasher, completely ignoring the Dilophosaur's pathetic babbling. He was growing tired of being given excuses, and he didn't want to hear any more...

Hellfire and Fatalis glanced at eachother, shrugging at Aircrest's apparent over-enthusiasm to get back after the Rex, but followed regardless. "Still dunno what we're supposed to do now that we're with the big brute. I mean really. What're we gonna do? chase off Compies trying to pick the meat out of his teeth?" growled Fatalis as they closed in on the Rex...

Crusher meanwhile, had made his way to a small stream, sighing as he dipped his muzzle into the water, the flowing liquid washing away the blood that caked his fangs and snout. It worried him that these animals were so risky to fight. Even eating them was dangerous, and when in the grips of rage, he knew that he was never entirely in control of his actions. More than once he had noted, after actually doing so, that he gulped down chunks of his foes mid-fight. It acted as an effective morale breaker, to see their opponent eating limbs and bodyparts that had until recently been a part of them their entire lives. So to find that not only was this tactic useless here, but potentially dangerous for him, was an issue that unnerved him considerably. He already had more than a bit of mutation in his system as a result of eating mutants before Ripper had warned him not to. It was partly to blame for his immense size and increasingly uncontrollable fury. Was it inevitable? Would he one day become the same as the creatures he now so readily slew?

"First we tell him what the hell is going on," Aircrest replied. "secondly... well I don't know. The plan's a work in progress. Maybe Ripper will drop another clue." A short while later, the trio came to the stream where Crusher rinsed the mutant taint from his maw. At any other time in his life, Aircrest wouldn't have dared to show his face in the area, much less actively approach the gargantuan Tyrannosaur. Indeed, these were extraordinary times...

"Back so soon? I wasn't aware you enjoyed my company so much" rumbled Crusher with an amused smirk as he shook his snout in the stream briefly before lifting it, water streaming between his teeth, now clean from the tainted blood of his momentary opponent. flexing his jaws once, he closed them as he turned to face the trio of Raptors, two of which remained silent for now, letting Aircrest take the lead, as he was the most knowledgeable on the situation, his background knowledge on the Elder giving him an edge...

"Let's just say an old friend has told us about your latest exploits. Let's also say he's lending a claw to help, and that despite his methods he wasn't all too subtle about him wanting us to assist you," Aircrest growled. Deciding it would be best to get right down to it, he barked: "So if one were to have a bone to pick with Thrasher, where would they start pickin'?"

Crusher chuckled amusedly at the implications. "And here I thought he wanted me to stop attacking that fish gobbler" grunted Crusher thoughtfully. considering the question for a moment, he continued. "Thrasher's power is partially due to his allies. He has a ring of territories surrounding his own that were 'gifted' to predators loyal to him. Some of them have families, but not many. Without those predators, Thrasher has to watch his own borders against threats, and that leaves holes in his defences" he explained. "Easy enough. Piss 'em off, lure them somewhere dangerous, then spark a stampede or something and kill 'em off" grunted Fatalis amusedly...

"I assume you have experience doing just that..." Aircrest growled, raising a scaly brow at Fatalis but making no further comment on his particular set of skills. "Note to self," he mused, "find that rogue Trike..."

"So say we are able to break his organization down enough to get at him directly. What then?" Aircrest pressed. If he could get his own plan of action together, maybe... just maybe the balance of power on the island could be shifted after all...

"I go in and kill him" grunted Crusher simply. "It's been a long time coming, and by the time his ring of allies has been that badly damaged, odds are his relatives sharing the territory will be too fearful for their own lives to try and intervene" he added. "Hm. You know, it's funny. With the kind of chaos we'll be pulling, you'll end up being the most feared thing the island's ever seen out of rumour alone. Thrasher's allies dying off from attacks and freak accidents one by one the moment you're back in the area. The panic and chaos'll be something nobody's ever seen....This is gonna be awesome" snorted Fatalis as his mind went to work thinking up all sorts of ways to make Thrasher's little world implode on itself in as spectacular and bloody a fashion as possible...
