Shadowstar hummed thoughtfully, thinking her answer over carefully. "Very good question," she praised. "I suppose you won't know if you can unless you take the chance; but you have my word as a leader that none of the cats I live with will harm you while you're with us," she meowed, offering the young cat a kind smile.

Eli's flattened ears pricked for a moment at the word 'leader'. Just where was he? Was there a society of cats waiting just outside the bracken? As much as the thought distressed him, he didn't flee further into his makeshift shelter. Truth be told, the she-cat could have dragged him out a long time ago - or, if what she said was true, her allies could have done so in a heartbeat. He had few options and, as much as he hated to admit it, the she-cat was doing a good job of putting him at ease.

"Ok," he mumbled at last, barely above a whisper. He inched forward at an extremely slow pace, his ears swept back to display his discomfort.

Shadowstar shifted back as the youngster came forward, giving him his space. Noting the moment of interest, she decided it was probably best to start to explain just where the younger tabby had come to be. "My name is Shadowstar," she mewed. "I lead ThunderClan; we're going to have to go back to my camp. Will you be able to walk?"

Eli straightened up as he cleared the foliage, his legs wobbling unsteadily. To Shadowstar he merely nodded; his eyes blazed momentarily in what little independence he was capable of. As for the rest of what she spoke of, he hadn't a clue. ThunderClan? Camps? It sounded almost like gibberish, but he hadn't the time to worry about it. Now on his paws again, his head swam from blood loss and for a moment he thought he might lose consciousness. Bearing through the pain and unease by sheer force of will, the young tomcat wobbled out from cover with his head held high.

Tiberium tensed, ears pressed back and his stance dropping low. He hadn't even seen the clan cats, so he was taken off guard by the call of the patrol. "So much for seeing without your eyes," he thought somewhat bitterly.

Ferallion was the deciding factor in what his next move would be. Without a sound, the gray tom broke out into a full blown sprint, bolting across the open ground. Tiberium followed in kind, through veering off on his own heading towards the treeline in the distance, purposely running at a slower pace than his brother.

"They might catch me, but not both of us," the white tom thought as he stared straight ahead with Ferallion at the very edge of his peripherals, growing farther and farther away with each second.

The patrol gave chase without hesitation, and their progress toward the trespassers was undeniable. WindClan cats were accustomed to their environment, and were some of the fastest cats in the forest. But should their quarry reach the treeline, they would no longer have the advantage. Time was running out for the two loners, however.

Tiberium knew Ferallion could not keep up his dash for much longer. If his brother was to make it to the forest, he would have to act now. The patrol was already not too far behind him and gaining, so he decided to put the energy he spared by limiting his speed to good use.

Without warning, Tiberium hopped a few inches into the air, spinning himself around as he did. He collided with one of his pursuers, being thrown hard onto his back and sustaining glancing scrapes from their claws, but used the momentum to drag the cat over him. He kicked up into the clan cat's stomach with his rear legs while being mindful of his claws, throwing it forwards and off of him.

He now had the rest of the group to contend with and his stunt, while not explicitly meant to cause harm to the Windclan member, was surely going to be perceived as an act of aggression. Tiberium was willing to face the consequences if it meant his brother would escape unhurt, however, whatever those consequences might be.

The two of the three remaining WindClan cats skid to a halt as Tiberium launched his attack, and pounced as soon as their ally was thrown. The airborne cat landed a few fox-lengths away, yowling defiance as it struggled to its paws. The remaining cat, after a moment of hesitation, tore off after Ferallion, intent on seeing the cat out of the territory, at the very least.

The first cat that attacked Tiberium - a mottled brown tom - sank its teeth into his shoulder and held the loner down with its weight. The other cat, a small gray toroiseshell, darted around the other side, hissing and spitting and ensuring he wouldn't escape if he managed to throw the first cat off.

Tiberium snarled, eyes squinting and his lips curling. He did not attack or resist the hold however, not wanting to risk escalating the violence and worse injury. He only wanted to keep these cats occupied and as far as he was aware of, he was doing just that, allowing Ferallion to get away.

But Ferallion was not one to let his closest family member sacrifice himself. Hearing the distant scuffle, he stopped running and snapped his body around. Seeing the one Windclan cat chasing him still, he stood his ground with a wide stance, shoulders lowered slightly and ears pressed back. He stared into the approaching cat's eyes unflinchingly.

At the sudden lack of resistance, the WindClan tom hesitated. Releasing the loner's shoulder, he kept his weight on the intruder's limbs and chest and fixed him with a fierce glare. "What are you doing in WindClan territory?" The tortoiseshell cat, an apprentice by the looks of it, spat not far from Tiberium's head as its clanmate spoke.

The remaining member of the patrol, an off-white she-cat with gray paws who had kept on Ferallion's tail, skidded to a halt as the cat turned. Pelt bristling, the she-cat hissed and spat, inching closer with a paw poised to strike.

"Leaving," Tiberium rumbled as neutrally as he possibly could with the pain in his shoulder throbbing, fixing the apprentice a hard gaze. He did not like having a cat as young as this disrespecting him, but in this circumstance he had to disregard his pride.

Ferallion's green eyes never broke contact with the warrior's as she carried on posturing. Regardless of her attempts to unsettle and intimidate the gray and black tom, he remained silent and continued staring. It was only when the she-cat was in clawing distance did he issue his low warning: "If you had any recollection of who I was, you would not be so eager to fight."

"Unsurprising. Can't say I will miss this self righteous attitude she's developed as of late. It's downright disrespectful of her elders" growled the Black Bengal as he flipped onto his back, entertaining himself, however minimally, with a leaf dangling overhead, batting at it with his paws, claws sheathed so as not to damage the plant. "You know I can't help but wonder what put the thought in her head in the first place. Surely her mentor put respect somewhere into her training. Who was it, again?" he inquired, peering round the leaf and up at the ginger-pelted tom in the tree...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"

Shadowstar kept a close eye on the young tom's shaky progress, only throwing a glance behind her to see where the rest of her patrol was at. "Mapleleaf," she meowed, fixing the brown she-cat with a firm look. "Run back to camp. Let Mistpool know we're coming." Mapleleaf dipped her head obediently and bounded off through the foliage, seeming fully alert for the first time since Falconflight had woken her. Shadowstar moved to stand beside the stranger, ready to match his pace and offer a shoulder to lean on if he should need it. Falconflight hung back, uncertain that they should so freely bring the young cat back to their camp when they knew nothing about him, or what might've injured him.

The dark-pelted tom let out a long growl. "Why were you here in the first place?" he snapped, clearly not one for patience. The apprentice continued to make threatening noises over Tiberium's head, overzealous at the idea of catching an intruder.

"All I see is a flea-bitten rogue!" the she-cat hissed, baring her teeth in another snarl. Despite her hostility, she hesitated.

"Mapleleaf, I think," Firestreak mewed. By now he had sprawled himself over the branch, his head pressed against the bark. "But Shortear was one of our most attentive apprentices! Every cat was jealous of her mentor." The young tom gave a long sigh. "She was just so arrogant. Now, as a warrior, she thinks she knows best."

Eli's eyes grew wide as he noticed the presence of other cats, and visibly flinched when one of them darted away. Embarrassed and uneasy, the young cat gave Shadowstar an uncertain glance before struggling off in the direction the other cat had left.

"Passing through,"Tiberium replied. He gave the apprentice an unapproving look, weighing his options. "I could probably handle the warrior," he thought, "and an inexperienced fighter would be nothing at all..." The only question he had was, should he really risk being labeled a rogue? If word got back to Thunderclan, it would surely jeopardize the agreement he and his brother made four seasons ago!

"I assure you there are no fleas in my pelt," Ferallion replied simply, "just as I assure you that I am no rogue. In fact I helped defend your clan from over ambitious rogues.:

"Right, 'just passing through'," the tom spat indignantly. "That's why you attacked us, right? You were just passing through and fancied a fight?"

"Yeah, right," the she-cat snarled, still poised to strike. "If you're such friends of WindClan, why was your friend so quick to attack?"

"You were chasing us," Tiberium replied plainly.

"I cannot speak for my brother," said Ferallion, "but if I was as you make me out to be, we would not be speaking right now."

"We were confronting intruders in our territory!" the apprentice cut in with a threatening hiss. The tom glanced up at her, his expression unreadable.

"Jadepaw here is right," the tom growled. "Only those with a guilty conscious flee from a patrol only doing their job."

"You sound like a cat that doesn't want their pelt ripped off!" the she-cat responded. She lashed out with her paw, aiming her strike at the loner's muzzle.

"Fine, you got me; we smacked a rock around and ate a bunch of grass while we were going about our business," Tiberium deadpanned.

Ferallion swerved around the warrior's strike with lightning fast speed, standing next to her for the smallest fraction of an instant. After dodging, he sent his full strength into her side with a lunge.

The tom's claws unsheathed, digging into Tiberium's hide. "You aren't making this any easier for yourself."

The she-cat yowled, barely managing to keep on her paws as she stumbled away from the loner's attack. Back arched and teeth bared, she held her ground.
