The herbivore backed away a bit, knowing that it would go for his soft area. He smiled through gritted teeth and grunted,"One shall stand. One shall fall." With that, he prepared himself, keeping his limbs close and his neck closer. He glanced at the carno yards from him as she stared at the two in fear. He nodded his head once and resumed his watch of the Giga, about to swipe his tail club...

The Giganotosaur continued to pace around the herbivore, using mobility against the smaller creature, making a show of just how easily it was for him to outmanoeuvre it, making sure not to let himself come too close when within the swinging range of the tail. Despite the odds being tipped sharply in his favour, he was old, and tired, and not in the mood to spend the unnecessary exertion needed to kill the sauropod. The struggle alone would tire him more than he had been already, and there was still a risk it could inflict an injury on him if it wasn't tackled correctly. The pointlessness of the encounter was only emphasised by the fact his meal was laying there, all but crippled, more or less ready to eat. "Tell me, little sauropod...Just what is it that makes this whole...suicide attempt, worth it? Your 'friend' was, not long ago, trying to eat you. And now, it may well starve to death...It certainly can't hunt with its leg mangled as is...You would merely be delaying the inevitable...and in the end...two will die here, instead of one. I have no need for two kills of your size...One will do just fine...the other...well, it'd just be food for the scavengers. You're worth more than that, are you not?" growled the old hunter, clearly not eager to kill something he wouldn't eat. Food was scarce enough on the island as it was. Killing something he wouldn't eat now would simply mean less food for him and the other predators later...

He snarled, keeping his eyes and tail facing the hunter. He growled deeply,"That carnivore that could have pierced your heart with her horn," he glanced at the giant's shoulder gash,"wa willing to sacrifice her life to save me. I will fight you to repay my debt to her." He roared, slamming his tail at the lower part of his legs, hoping to cripple the tired Giga. He didn't want to fight just to let his 'friend' die to the jaws of a gigantic predator. No, he wanted to protect her as long as he could while reinforcements came, which he know would. He trumpeted quickly, letting it seem as he was shouting a war cry. And then he attacked...

"And now you completely waste the opportunity she gave her life to grant you. Not only that, but you come back, willing to throw your life away...So even if you do survive, she will have broken her leg and died a slow, painful death....for nothing" snarled Rook as the herbivore took a swing, too far out of range thanks to the Giga's careful spacing. The moment the herbivore tried to close the gap, the Giga was upon it, rearing up on one foot and throwing his weight forward, the large, taloned foot landing squarely on the herbivore's shoulder, the angle keeping him out of the tail's reach as his jaws clamped shut on its back at the base of the neck, blade-like fangs digging deeply, the sheer weight of the predator making trying to struggle out of its grip difficult...

He roared in pain as the killer's claws dug into his shoulder, forcing him low to the ground and unable to use his tail. He swung his head at the giga's one leg on the ground. He struck, toppling the giant to the ground. With that one second of freedom,he was up on his pillar like legs, his tail club raised above the theropod's skull. He growled," Leave now before I break your skull." He waved his club in emphasis.

Snarling, the Giganotosaur rolled back onto his feet, the move swift enough to evade an attack by the herbivore, the Giga stepping back several strides, fangs bared as the giant reconsidered his opponent's capabilities. Seemed that it had a measure of skill afterall. tilting his head from side to side, the predator's neck cracked audibly, a rumbling growl coming from the beast. "Not bad, little sauropod...Not bad at all...We'll see how much longer you can keep up your little fight" snarled the goliath...

Crusher, meanwhile, watched, amused. Aged though the Giga may have been, he hadn't expected him to be floored that easily. He was lucky his hips hadn't smashed from the fall. If this was what his father was up against, it was little wonder he had won. Then again, for the Giganotosaur to have reached the position of being the most formidable predator on the island at any point in time, he must've had some measure of skill. So what was this? A stroke of luck on the Shunosaur's part? A lapse in judgement or focus on Rook's? The Tyrannosaur had been considering departing once the Triceratops had broken off the chase and returned to grazing, but now, he had chosen to remain. This was getting interesting.

His teeth gritted, he began to swig his tail side to side quickly and repeatedly, hoping for a solid hit. Slowly as he was swinging his club, he was pushing the carnotaur out if the way in a hope that she would nit get trampled. He trumpeted again, hoping someone heard, and kept swinging...

Tanc looked up from his ferns, hearing the bellowing of the shunosaurus. He licked his beak, tasting the blood from the giga's tail. He chuckled deeply as he began to make his way toward the battle once again...
______________

Two armored skulls looked up from their corythosaur carcass to the sound of roaring only a few hundred yards away. One, a smaller female kaprosuchus, hissed gently at the much larger male postosuchus," Think we should investigate the source of that sound, brother?" "Sure," growled the scaly titan as they began to trot toward the source of the roaring.

With the Giganotosaur standing ahead of the sauropod, he was well out of range of the clubbed tail. "You can call all you like. No one will help a creature so eager to die" growled the Giganotosaur as he began to circle the herbivore once more, trying to get round to an angle that left the Carnotaurus within easier reach. Eventually, the sauropod's proximity would end up killing it, a stumbling step spent by maintaining its focus on the giant predator before it, or a tackling blow going wrong. A disaster was inevitable, and then, he'd have no need to deal with the pesky herbivore...

Tanc charged out of the tree line and head lowered, slammed into the side of the massive carnivore, sending it stumbling a few yards back. He hooted, a puff of steam shooting out of his nostrils as he stared at the Giga with amusement. He grunted at the shuno who nodded in thanks,"Heard your call for help and thought I should help." As he turned back toward the giganotosaur, he lifted in crested head in a bellow.

The two land crocs stared at the scene taking place briefly before the massive postosuchus turned and padded off,"This isn't our battle Kappy, lets go." The little kaprosuchus followed behind her brother in a skip as she took one last glance at the fight.

The charging Pachyrhinosaurus was heard long before it was seen. By the time it had reached the fight, the Giganotosaurus was well aware of its presence. Backing away from the Shunosaurus, he side-stepped the charging herbivore, his thick tail swinging into it as it passed. "You again? Have you all lost your minds?" snarled the predator, a bone-chilling snarl rattling in his throat as he turned to face the ceratopsian, a more significant threat than the slower sauropod. "No matter....No more games...I will gut you....BOTH of you" growled the angry Giganotosaur, fangs bared menacingly as his foot hit the ground in an earth-shaking stomp, his tail slamming into the grassy dirt, only adding to the tremor.

Crusher, meanwhile, couldn't believe his eyes. The herbivore had walked right past him earlier, somehow managing to avoid slamming right into him on the way back, and now was throwing itself right back into the fight it had walked away from. The scene was becoming more and more unpredictable by the moment. It was clear now, however, that it would inevitably turn into a bloodbath. With his own fight soon to follow, he would not intervene....the extra food the fight would bring about however, would be more than helpful.

Tanc roared and swung his crested skull, uttering a mighty bellow,"Bring it on, you killer!!", and to the shunosaurus,"Get the carnotaur out of here and to the mountains. A friend of mine is there. He can take care of her.." With that he charged and swung his horn into the giga's lower jaw, a few banana sized fangs flying into the air as they were knocked out of their spot. He nipped the predator's side, trying to distract the beast until the two younger dinosaurs were far away..

Toklo grabbed hold of the carnotaur's flank and gently began to help her up. Together they began to limp toward the trees, into the direction of the mountains. He whispered into the breeze as he trudged away,"Thank you old one." And with that he and the carno left the pachyrhinosaurus to his fate...

A furious snarl came from the Giganotosaur as he bit the herbivore by the neck, putting enough pressure to keep it in place, the carnivore twisting to its side and ramming it side-on, sending it tumbling several feel away, its blood soaking his jaws as a rattling growl came from the beast. "You've cost me my meal...I will see to it you replace it" rumbled the Giganotosaur. This hunt was bad enough already when the Shunosaur was pestering him. Now it was a disaster. But no matter...he would get his meal. He would not starve because some overzealous ceratopsian decided to play the hero...

Tanc roared in pain, trying to gather enough strength to rise onto his legs, only to make his wounds bleed more, sapping his strength. He growled, a final ember of fight left in him. He swung his thick skull one time and then slumped in exhaustion, laying there as his blood and energy slowly left him. He bellowed one last time and closed his eyes, his old battle filled life over...

Toklo looked up, hearing the single bellow. He lowed his neck, knowing that the battle was over and the old fighter was dead. A burning inferno of anger and sorrow welled up inside his chest as he rose up on his hind legs. Blue Eyes stared at the larger dinosaur in fear as the shunosaurus roared loudly, letting all his emotions out. He grieved for the ceratopsian who sacrificed his life to save two strangers. Minutes passed until he was exhausted. He lowered down onto all fours as he and the carnotaur leaning on him trudged toward the mountains across the island..

A booming roar tore across the plains as the Giganotosaurus saw the old ceratopsian collapse, enraged at how his luck had deteriorated. From a fat, bulky sauropod, his meal had turned to a tough, bony old Pachyrhinosaurus. Still, it was better than nothing. Snarling, the massive hunter strode across to his kill, a foot planted firmly on its crest, holding it down and crippling any chance at movement in the event it was still alive. And with that, the Carcharosaurid dove into its flank, ripping a mouthful of flesh and wolfing it down voraciously, savage, feral eyes glaring at his fallen opponent with a combination of hunger and hatred sharp enough to bore through stone.

Crusher smirked, shaking his head as he watched the old Giga feed. And to think that was the predator that was mocking me only a few years ago thought the Rex as he heard the groan of trees and undergrowth behind him, tilting his head to see who it was. "Ready?" growled a second Tyrannosaur, Morphena appearing at his side. "You changed your mind? How'd you manage to slip away?" growled Crusher, eyes wide in surprise. "I'll tell you later. Are we ready?" responded Morphena quickly and firmly, repeating her question. "Yes. Let's move" growled Crusher firmly, before walking out of the treeline and into the plains, a thoroughly surprised and very defensive Rook baring his fangs in a snarl at the sight of them.

The strange dinosaurs traveled a few hundred yards before the two stopped at the edge of the swampy land. Blue, who was curled up as she was preparing to sleep, spoke to Toklo comfortingly," Its not your fault. You did what you could to prevent his or anyone elses death." Toklo, spitting out his mouthful of vegetation, snarled,"That's just it. I didn't do anything to stop that. I simply left with you to his fate." "But if you stayed behind with him, we all would've died to that beasts teeth," interjected Blue. And with that argument finished, she slept, leaving the grumpy shunosaurus to his meal...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hundreds of yards away, the two armored predators were laying down side by side, next to the corytho carcass. Kappy the kaprosuchus looked up at the much larger postosuchus, hooting with youthful energy,"Staco, tell me again how I came to be your little sis." Staco groaned,"You've heard the story before many times, are you sure you want to?" "Yes I do," peeped the little boar croc.
Sighing, Staco nuzzled his sister and began," Well, it was a long time ago, back when you were a tiny hatchling. I was stalking a young plateosaur that I managed to wound a day earlier. Well, as I was about to pounce on the herbivore, I began to feel the earth shake. When I looked up I saw a herd of triceratops racing past me and stamping the plateo into the ground, making it unfit to eat.
"A few minutes past before I was able to look clearly around without dust in my eyes because of those trikes feet. When I looked past the crushed prosauropod, I saw little old you," he muzzled his sisters snout then continued. "You were only about the size of my foot, and a hungry little thing you were. You were yanking on the carcasses leg like a starved compy with a tendon. So, thinking you wouldn't survive on your own, I ripped a chunk of still edible meat and fed you. In no time that meat was gone and you immediately went to sleep by my toes. So I grabbed you in my jaws gently and carried you to my den not far off." Staco took a deep breath, laying his head down. "And after that we were inseparable..." And he and Kappy fell asleep, leaned on each other during their rest.

"If I was here to eat, I wouldn't've made it so easy to detect me" Growled Crusher calmly as the angry, starving Giganotosaur glared daggers at him. "Watch your step, Rex...Or I'll rip that smug look right off your face" warned Rook with a bitter snarl. "After that performance, I have my doubts you'd be able to. But maybe I'm not giving you justice. Eat. We'll have time to throw poisonous words at eachother after I'm done setting Thrasher straight" rumbled the younger Tyrannosaur calmly. A rattling growl came from the Giga, before he resumed his feeding, the Rex meanwhile, pressed on, leaving the Giganotosaurus behind. "What was that all about?" growled Morphena, cocking her head. "We've met...He doesn't like us very much" responded Crusher with a snort. "Huh. You're telling me. Looked ready to jump up and tear you apart" growled the female with a chuckle. "That old lizard? He'd be looking at his own innards before he knew what happened" retorted Crusher with a smirk. "Oooh. Sounds like someone feels threatened" rumbled Morphena with a smirk. "Me? Ha. Remember why we're leaving our families for the centre of the island. We wouldn't be going if an old husk of a Giga like that scared me" responded Crusher calmly. "Relax, Crusher, I'm joking" responded Morphena with a snicker. The male chuckled at that, amused. "So, what made you change your mind?" he growled. "You kidding? You're literally going after the most dangerous and influential creature on the island. Not only that, but you wholly intend to kill him. Even if I didn't want to crack some skulls myself, I wouldn't miss a sight like that for the world. Besides, you could use someone cheering you on. Not like you have a friendly audience where you're headed" responded Morphena with a smile. "You're all I need. Everyone else can hear about it when the scavengers start spreading the world they found out what Thrasher tastes like" responded Crusher with a chuckle. "I'm almost envious of the ones who'll hear it. The looks on their faces will be amazing" growled Morphena. "You'll get to see it when you tell your parents you saw him get torn to shreds" responded Crusher with a smirk, tilting his head. "True. But hey, don't get too overconfident. Pride comes before a fall. It's why this whole plan's even gonna work" warned the female jokingly, Crusher nodding. "That reminds me though, how DID you manage to slip away?" he growled, the female sighing as she eyed him...

Meanwhile, while the rexes were speaking and the two land crocs were sleeping, a massive theropod was sloshing into a fast flowing river. The female spinosaurus watched the rushing water, waiting for a dark shape to arrive. Her wish came true as a large blob began to swam toward the spino. Perfectly still, she extended her claws. She pounced, her claws sinking deep into the scaly hide of an unfortunate juvenile deinosuchus. Thrusting her body in a 180° motion, swung the dead croc onto the shore many yards away. She then quickly made her way back to her kill and roared in victory at getting rid of competition and getting a large meal. She slashed her claws down the crocs side, ripping open its stomach and spilling the creature's guts. Gripping the crocs liver in her delicate jaws, she swallowed the chunk of flesh in one gulp.

"...I found my mother a while after we split up. Asked for her opinion. She was against it at the beginning. Made a show of scolding me for being reckless and stupid. Sarcus wasn't there, thankfully, so he doesn't know I was reconsidering" explained Morphena quietly as she eyed the larger male. "At the beginning?" he growled curiously, to which Morphena nodded. "After she was done ripping me apart about how I was nuts, she...gave me this little smile. Said she expected no less of her own daughter...gave me some pointers on how to fight Spinosaurs..what to watch for...how to get round certain things...She grumbled about not being able to come herself; my father'd panic if his mate suddenly went stomping off towards Thrasher's territory. So she just kinda...nuzzled me and said she was proud. Asked me to bring a bit of Thrasher back for her" explained the female with a smile. "Wow. And your father?" rumbled Crusher. "Clueless. As far as he's concerned, I'm off exploring in and around the territory, visiting Zephora and Sarraya...the usual stuff. And Sarcus was sleeping by the time I was done with my mother, so we don't have to worry about him" growled Morphena with a chuckle. "She has a lot of faith in you. Can't say I'm surprised. You handle yourself well from what I can see" growled Crusher with a smile, a gesture returned by the female...

"You realise all that noise is just going to attract other predators looking for a meal, right?" hissed a predator in the trees not far from the Spinosaur, a small pair of eyes looking up from the undergrowth at the giant, the hiss unmistakably that of a Deinonychus, his dark figure barely discernable in the undergrowth, remaining there in case the giant proved hostile...

Full, the gentle giant went to bed down not far from her carcass, which was half stripped of flesh already, to keep a wary eye on the meal. As she layed down her massive bulk, a faint odor from the breeze wafted into her nostrils. She growled deeply, her croc like jaws baring their many sharp inhabitants. "Whoever you are, I can scent you, so come out from your hiding spot before I come looking," she said with a snarl, her claws clenched tight against her palms. She rose to her feet, getting into a reliable pose ready for battle in case of the worst...

"Then you know I am alone. You're right in being concerned, but it'd be a waste of your time either way" hissed the Deinonychus with a click of his tongue, his tone surprisingly pleasant. "On that note though, I don't suppose you know Thrasher, do you?" he asked casually as he walked, not far from the Spinosaur, but keeping his distance...

Rook made short work of the ceratopsian, gulping down flesh as fast as his jaws could manage. That Triceratops wasn't too far away. For whatever reason, it was considerably more placid than usual, but he knew that even in spite of that, its patience was undoubtedly waning. If he didn't move quickly, he would have the horned goliath charging him down. He could smell the blood that caked its horns and hide. Fresh, and marred with the scents of super-predators that occupied territories not far from Thrasher's. For whatever reason, it had gone on a rampage that had ended the lives of several of them. He had no intention of becoming another corpse on the pile of dead left in the herbivore's wake. Perhaps, the Giganotosaurus pondered, that's why it wasn't so quick to engage? Perhaps its blood-lust is temporarily sated? Its energy, perhaps, drained? Whatever the reason, he knew his time was short, and with that in mind, he hastened his feeding. Once he was done, he'd go as far as his legs would take him, as far away from that monster of a Trike as physically possible, before it decided he was to be the next to die at its horns...
