Fatalis smirked, mulling the idea over. "Got it. I'm making up for it later though" hissed the Raptor, before disappearing once more into the hole in the ceiling, undoubtedly heading for a path that would allow him to pursue the giants. "I get a feeling we're going to regret letting him say that" growled Hellfire casually, shrugging. "Anyway. Time to move on. Care to take the lead? Or should I?" he added, tilting his head as he eyed the Wanderer...

"I'll lead. If any mutants want to start trouble, they're most likely going to go after the smallest of the two of us, after all. It just makes our job of finding them easier," Aircrest replied. He turned around and started to head back to the end of the hallway, preparing himself to brave the open. There was no spectacle to distract savage eyes but the feeding of the crocodiles in the water.

Hellfire was quick to pursue, pacing through the darkness towards the doorway beyond, which had now swung shut from the weight of the vines criss crossing its surface, only the faintest crack visible where the rusty, disfigured door wouldn't quite fit back into the frame. The splashing in the river had settled somewhat as the Spinosaur died, though all eyes were far too preoccupied with the carcass to care about activity on land...

The door swung outwards for the second time. Aircrest edged his head past it to look around the area again, finding that it seemed more open without the titanic beasts standing around the place. He was not fooled by simple impressions, though. He knew full well the danger lurking beneath the surface of the lazy river and he suspected more to be hiding in the misty mangroves surrounding the compound. The raptor's nostrils flared as he took a deep breath, then he forced his full weight against the vine covered door. It opened wider, enough for Hellfire to fit through, and then Aircrest slunk out of the building. His stance was low and defensive as he walked a moderate pace towards the gigantic building across the way.

The Deinonychus stalked out of the building, his form low to the ground, head bobbing ever so slightly with the movement as his eyes glared into the darkness surrounding them, shimmering orbs in the night, contributing to the array of senses honed for the specific purpose of pinpointing threats unseen, unheard or unfelt. Each sense covered the shortcomings of the others as the two Dromaeosaurids paced through the grass, most of their bodies concealed by the plantation as they covered the gap between the two structures carefully. Most eyes were too busy watching the feast in the river, but some were not so easily distracted. As the massive green-grey facility overshadowed the two predators, it became uncomfortably clear just how risky it was venturing into it...With the smell of the swamp and the waste of the disposal pools overwhelming their sense of smell, they would have to rely more thoroughly on the other senses to make sure they were not ambushed by some unseen horror...

It was only when he was a few yards away that Aircrest considered the advantages of waiting until morning before entering the building. Alas, after further thought, it became apparent that daylight would have only been a small comfort. While it chased away the shadows, it also made it difficult to hide from piercing eyes. As unsettling as it was, the night was the best time to go about this endeavor. Aircrest hugged the mossy wall of the building when he was near and made his way around its perimeter, occasionally having to go past boxy obstacles in his way that were joined to the much larger structure by thick, unnatural vines that were black in color. The raptor came across more of these vines farther along the way, except they were grayish, more thin and were hanging down the sloped walls of the building. They were the same as the strange webbing that surrounded Thrasher's pool.

Eventually, Aircrest came across metallic scaffolding at the side of the building and he stopped to inspect it. It looked like the same material that Ripper's home was made of and it was in an even worse state of disrepair. It was severely rusted, with platforms overhead having huge holes in them and stairs that did not reach the other levels, for they had broken and fallen away long before Aircrest came across the site. He saw that there were a few doors on different levels that hung ajar, but Aircrest did not trust the walkways to hold if he or Hellfire were to jump up on them. The swamp was not as kind to these kinds of structures as the inner jungle had proven to be. He kept moving, certain that there would be another way inside. After all, he had found an entrance in the other building that was completely obscured by vines.

A pair of golden eyes shone through the dense foliage, piercing the air. They watched a pair of horned carnivores, a small female beside a massive black male. They were on the same side as the owner of the cat like eyes, almost a tails length away. "Well, well, well, what do I have here? It seems that a pair of carnotaurs are going for some hadrosaur," hissed the medium sized theropod. Feeling like watching the hunt, the large monolophosaurus sat down, staying at the very edge of the clearing.

Blue Eyes looked up at her much larger mate. Since Toklo left her with the pterosaur, she and Ebony have grown close, and their bond growing stronger with every passing moment. "What's the plan," she whispered, staring at their target: a lone parasaurolophus. The massive black beast stared down at her, a look of tenderness sweeping across his scaly face. "You circle around and scare it. Once it's startled, you lead toward me where I will take it down," rumbled the behemoth. Nodding, the younger carnotaurus began to creep toward the parasaur, staying low to the ground, only the tips of her horns showing above the grass as she circled the unsuspecting herbivore...

A bit of further investigation led the duo to what looked like a hole in the wall. An enormous entrance to some heavily overgrown area, which was now barred by a web of vines. two thick metallic barriers connected the edges of the doorway, dark grey metallic plates each as wide as a super-predator's tail, the inner one higher than the outer. On the surface of it, a black and red symbol could be seen; a warning sign that the Dromaeosaurids couldn't hope to understand. A black and yellow symbol could be seen below it, looking like a lightning bolt, along with a black silhouette of a human hand, also beyond the two predators' understanding. Eyeing the barriers in thought, Hellfire's eyes narrowed, a powerful leap launching him upwards at it, his feet connecting with the metal surface just short of the top. His claws scrabbled against the metallic surface with a rasping scrape as he dropped to the ground. Above the barriers, vines made access even more difficult, though the Deinonychus saw a potential use for them...

In the moonlit glow of the early evening light, Crusher finally arose from his slumber. Morphena lay at his side, at peace. The two Tyrannosaurs were now the new sovereigns of a rich and plentiful territory, the rumble of a waterfall audible not too far from them. Crusher remembered fragments of his early life, and knew that the waterfall fed a river that flowed behind the area they had used as a nest. A small stream branched from it through a cluster of rocks, and that stream was what he used to drink from when he was very young. The overhanging trees seemed frozen in time, blissfully unaware of the vicious fight that had taken place in their shadow mere hours before. In this place...this relic from the past...Crusher for the first time in his life, felt at peace. He knew it wasn't safe. Not yet...but the fact that he had reclaimed what was rightfully his was enough to put him at ease...

"Enjoying the view too, hm?" rumbled Morphena as she shifted, her head tilting so she could lay an eye on her new mate, head upside down on the ground as she lay flat on her side, looking for all the world like an oversized, curious hatchling, a wide eye staring playfully at the male. "Yeah....and the peace" he rumbled, watching her. Exposing her neck like that, the only vulnerability a Rex truly had, as a sign of a supreme feeling of safety and confidence that was rarely seen in Rexes, especially in the past few decades. She was not only at peace....She had complete, absolute, unwavering faith in the safety Crusher's presence provided...That was perhaps the most comforting sensation of them all for the Scarred Rex...finally....he was no longer the one being protected...he had at last become powerful enough to be the protector...

By now, Ripper was closing on his destination. The territorial markers of Ruvox and Styx filled the air, and with it, the floating scents of Zephora, Sarraya, and, by the smell of it, an extremely distressed Sarcus. The fact he could pick it up meant that either the Rex was close, or was even more fearful than had been expected for his sister's safety...and it seemed he was on his way to Zephora's den...the Elder would have to hurry...

The male covered ground quickly. His sister had disappeared, and Crusher wasn't in his territory. He knew exactly what had happened. His mother wasn't cooperating, and his father was on patrol; the one time he would accept no interruptions. Zephora had to know. She had only just got her son back, and now he was missing. Ahead, he could see the cave entrance that the female had made her home. A rumbling growl announced his arrival...

With a flat expression, Aircrest growled, "I don't know whether or not that sound was horrific enough to keep anything in the mood for raptor meat away or horrific enough to be taken as a challenge by something out there." He looked up from Hellfire to the scarred barrier and added, "I'm not too keen on sticking around out here to find out." He turned around, looking for anything that could help surmount the obstacle. A rise in elevation, a structure to springboard off of, anything, but he only saw flat, black ground with vegetation sprouting from the cracks. His nostrils flared as he exhaled sharply.

This wasn't going to be easy.

"Hellfire, get out of the way. I have an idea and to be quite honest I might end up mangling myself trying to pull it off. No need for you to be in harm's way while I'm doing this," he said to the deinonychus.

Hellfire cocked his head, shrugging. "Have fun" he quipped casually, stepping away before sitting on his haunches on a fallen log, watching. He noted the splashing in the water had gone silent. It seemed the crocodiles had had their fill...

Aircrest walked several paces away from the gargantuan structure. After putting a decent distance between himself and the metal door, he turned around and lowered himself into a crouched stance. A part of him wanted to reconsider for what he was about to do for it was borderline madness. Something he'd send Fatalis to do in his stead, but Fatalis was off on another ludicrous undertaking. Not that he had many alternatives, he knew. If mutants were inside this building as he suspected, they would have all easily accessible entrances and exits under the watch of guards. Anything hapless enough to use them would most likely be slaughtered, no matter how skilled and vicious they might be.

The raptor bolted towards the building at full speed. In seconds he was closing in on it. The last stretch he covered with a leap, leaning his body backwards as he soared through the air. One foot hit the metal and a split-second later, his other foot touched concrete at the side of the door. With another forceful kick, the raptor gained some more height, landing heavily on one side of the first massive door. Breathing heavily, he looked down at Hellfire from this new, great height.

"Nice one" hissed Hellfire lowly as he approached the barrier once more. "Gonna try again" he growled as he stretched his limbs individually, eyeing the angle between the metal and stone barriers. It'd be a bit more difficult with his larger size to gain the height he needed, but it was that or stay outside while Aircrest explored. While he had no objection to lazing around, Aircrest would have no one to help him should the structure contain unseen dangers...

Once she grew close to the grazing hadrosaur, Blue pounced, roaring at the top of her lungs, leading it straight toward the black boulder of her mate. Ebony raised up quickly, clamping his thick jaws down onto the screeching parasaur's neck, sending it to the ground. Blue skidded to a stop, watching the frenzy. All she could see was grass being flung into the air, dust billowing, the occasional body part sticking out of the cloud, until an auditable crack was heard, followed by silence. In a few short seconds, the dust cleared, revealing the carnage. The black male was covered in blood, towering over the parasaurolophus, which was covered in many large, open wounds. The neck was bent in a 30 degree angle, which seemed to be the killing blow. Purring with pride, the bonded pair of canotaurs nuzzled together before tackling the carcass.

As the pair were feeding, the monolophosaurus smiled, his many large fangs glinting in the molten light. "Let's see if I can manage to obtain some of that delicious hadro flesh," hissed the crested theropod as he rose, slinking out of the brush. Raising his body higher, he walked confidently toward the carnotaurs, not a hint of fear on his muzzle, only honor and fangs showing...

Panting heavily, Aircrest only nodded to his large companion. He turned his head and looked down the gap between the first barrier and the second one, seeing an uninterrupted descent into a dark rectangular pit that had vines wrapping around the walls. At the bottom, there seemed to be a small puddle where rain water had pooled over time, and small leaves floated on the water's surface. To the raptor's relief, there were no bodies piled up in the water, no remains of creatures left to rot after falling into an inescapable trap. His expression grew grim when he realized he could full well be the first to mark the deathtrap that waited below.

Why was it she was still living here?

Twincrest lay on the fallen corpse of a log, her mouth slightly hung open as she rested. Scars ran down her once perfect hide, scars from nightmares that still haunted her. It was a swamp she was resting in, a swamp on the outskirts of Thrasher's territory. One eye lay closed, while the other was wide open. This was a dangerous place, but there was little else she could go. She had tried to find herself a new home, to make her own territory, but it had been for naught. There was too much competition elsewhere, too many dangers that had faced her, too many fights she had been forced to flee from, and too many mega predators that viewed her as a meal. As she shifted her gaze around her, a reptilian sigh escaped her mouth. Back where she had been before... back under the dreaded shadow of Thrasher.

Hopefully, he and his followers had no idea she was here... she didn't want to go on the run again, or face death in the face...

Bolting, the Deinonychus charged the barrier, avoiding the instinct to leap and instead taking the approach in stride, lifting one foot before the other and practically running up the rough concrete wall, his focus so intense time seemed to stop and silence overtook the thick, heavy air of the swamp, even the buzzing and chirping of insects unheard by the predator. One step. Two steps. Losing traction. Kick off. The Deinonychus twisted mid stride as he kicked off sharply, launching him over the barrier, eyes widening as he saw the gap between the two barriers, his feet hitting the edge of the first before kicking off once more, the Deinonychus having too much momentum to avoid falling if he stopped. Airborne once more, the Deinonychus landing a foot on the higher barrier, the other slipping down between the two, arms reaching out as he clung to the gate and dragged himself onto the top of it, settling in a crouch as he looked back behind him, examining the fate that almost befell him. "Huh. Note to self. Try a more direct entrance next time" he growled lowly, before returning his gaze towards the interior of the area beyond the barriers. A heavily overgrown area awaited his gaze, vines and bushes that seemed out of place here, snaking along the walls and coiling around the bars that overhung the enclosure. They were set wide apart, and could be crossed from one side to the other by hopping from bar to bar, traction afforded by the vines. The metallic surface of the bars, which long ago had been clean, perhaps even shiny, were now worn down by weather and plant growth, tinted a dull green-grey. Within, it looked like there was a square indentation in the edge of the barrier, heavily covered in vines and bearing the same green grey tint. On either side, what once would've been heavily reinforced windows could be seen, worn down and overgrown to the point it had become opaque. "Seems we have our way in" he growled, glancing over at the Raptor on the lower gate...

Not far from Twincrest's location, the rhythmic thumping of several creatures could be heard in the distance, though mist and the relative stench and noise of the swamp made identifying the source nigh impossible. Whatever it was, it was probably too far to be a significant danger, although there was no guarantee it would stay that way...

Both eyes now snapped open. The Dilophosaurus raised her head as she got off the log. What... what was that sound? She twisted her head from left to right, hoping to identify where it was at... but she couldn't, not with the environment itself muddling what it was. Even worse, she needed to hunt now, and there were no fish or prey in her immediate vicinity... which meant a trip through the mist. Hissing to herself, she moved out, caution gripping her mind as she readied herself for whatever was around...

A large frame marched through the deep wilderness, its deep mottled brown allowing it to hide among the heavy jungle shrubbery with shocking impunity. It had been a long time since Gothmog had been to this region of the woods... almost 8 years now. Marching into a small clearing, Gothmog stepped by a small stream and a little patch of water as he approached an overhang of earth and overgrown vines. Laying within the bundle of vines was a large skeleton of a fellow Giganotosaurus. Gothmog recognized this skeleton- it was that of his mother. The massive Giganotosaurus nudged the skull of the skeleton with the end of his nose, before he backed away and unleashed a roar into the sky.

"I am sorry that I could not prevent your demise, mother," Gothmog growled to himself. "But the past cannot be undone. I am strong now.... I can take care of myself. I can prevent what happened to you from happening to anyone else."

Gothmog simply stood there in silence for a few moments, staring at the skeleton completely unmoving, before he slowly turned away, his head hanging low....

Xiang, the monolophosaurus, stopped within striking distance of the two hord carnivores. "Hello there," hissed the mono. Ebony growled, rising to his full height, towering over his mate, protecting her from those lethal claws the stranger was showing. "Leave now if you wish to survive," snarled the black giant, his short fangs bared threateningly. "Don't do this Ebby" whispered his smaller, still crouched down mate. She didn't want her mate to fight, even if it looks like he could easily win.

Smiling, the crested theropod advanced, sidestepping the larger carn's attempt to bite down on his neck with ease. His clawed hands slapped the black creature's side with foot long slash marks as he ran past the beasts, racing toward the carcass. Confused, the two carnotaurs watched as the smaller predator raced away with a parasaurolophus hind leg in his jaws, dragging behind it as he raced into the trees. Bellowing in anger, the dark male sat down, thinking about how easy that smaller, primitive carnivore outwitted him so easily. As he thought, he barely noticed Blue Eyes licking his wounds, purring with affection and worry.

Aircrest shook his head vehemently in response. He took a deep breath, braced himself and threw himself across the drop, landing next to Hellfire where he growled lowly, "Not every opening is a welcoming invitation." He gestured with his snout at the door across the overgrown way. He narrowed his eyes as he stared through the leaves and vines, lips curling into a toothy scowl. So he remained for a short while, frozen in a hostile pose until the tiniest flicker of movement caught his eye. Aircrest breathed out sharply through his nostrils at that as he recoiled, his gaze darting around as he tried in vain to track the lightning-fast creature in the complex. Losing it almost as soon as he caught sight of it, he hissed to the deinonychus, "Looks like something took interest in that sound you made earlier after all."
