James sighed. "I 'ope so...im sick of this god-forsaken wasteland of death" he said. as the group began to split up, Jack and Barbossa walking off to the boats to get to the Pearl, James walked over to Adeline. "Why've you been so quiet lately? I remember you much more cheerful before this damned locker swallowed me whole". the sun had gone down recently, and several of the crew had gone below deck...trying to cook the food salvaged from the remains of the Barbarian, Red Dawn and the chinese Junk that had been hired along for the ride. Gunpowder was aboard all three of the ships, so they'd have no problems with guns should they come across a threat...

Adeline was deep in thought. She almost jumped when she heard James voice. "Oh, James," she gasped and smiled. Her eyes were looking at the ground. She hoped that Eric was not around, watching them. "Well, it's just that I missed you and I'm glad that you're back." She twirled a strand of hair around her finger. "I better leave before Eric comes back for me."

James smiled. "Missed me, ey? Adeline, Adeline, Adeline...the times that same thought for you has come across my mind while i was stranded here couldn't be counted with every thread that makes up the canvas of these sails. hell, they couldn't be counted with every strand of canvas on this ship, along with the Pearl and Dauntless combined!" said James happily, glad to be among his friends again. Rainbow flew over, a bottle of rum in the claws of one foot and a mango in the other. "RAAAAAAAAK! Feed me!". James chuckled at the bird's behaviour. obviously he didn't like moods like this. "Alright, Rainbow, Alright". he grabbed the bottle, and the mango. he sat down on a barrel next to him, on the deck by the edge of the ship, and put the rum down on another barrel. he then pulled out his dagger, and cut into the mango, handing one piece to Adeline, and cutting another piece, before putting the mango down near the Rum. he lifted the bottle, and tilted it slightly, making the yellow coloured liquid soak the slice of mango. "'ere you go you feathered chatterbox" said James as he gave the piece to Rainbow, who was standing on his shoulder. he then sliced a bit of mango for himself, dunking it in the rum and eating it...

Her mind told her to go, but her heart told her to stay with him a little while longer. Which one should she listen to? "I am just spending time with a friend, right?" she tried to reason and decided to stay. "A charming, funny, handsome...oh hell!" She looked down at her piece of mango and took a small bite out of it. "You...you really did miss me that much," she asked after swallowing some of the mango.

James said "You sound so surprised. i'd rather be with you than with any other person. a friend i can talk to comfortably. Sure, Yuke's fun to talk to and all, but we dont see eye to eye on many occasions, and have a habit of arguing at times when all should be good. you, well, your way of thinking is more fun to be with than his. i'd much rather be with you than i would anywhere else, with anyone else". he looked at Rainbow, who flew off, and soon returned with another mango and an orange. James started pealing the mango. on the other side of the ship, by the wheel at the stern, Raphael stood, watching his Captain at all times, in case of an unfriendly intrusion...

Adeline was both suprised, and yet somewhat happy to hear those words come from his mouth. "I-I never thought that you would..." She trailed off and couldn't help but let a blush appear on her face. At the moment, she wasn't worrying about Eric coming. In fact, when James said that, she stayed glued to her spot with him. "He enjoys spending time with me." Should she say something else or should she say nothing and let him continue to talk? "I'd rather be with you too. In fact, I'd spend some time with you more than anyone else." Perhaps she said too much and should stop talking. This time, she was finally looking at him.

James' grin widened a bit. "That's better. haven't seen your eyes properly in ages. lovely brown eyes. well, i see nothing stopping us from having a friendly chat as often as we like. i mean, same ship until we reach the next port, a long voyage at sea until we get back to where we need to be, plenty of time before reaching a port even after we get back, i see nothing standing in the way" said James as he pealed the orange, having cut a few bits of mango and dunked them in rum to feed to Rainbow, and now worrying more about his own hunger. "Orange?" he suggested. the sun had, by now, gone down, and the stars lightened up the sky above them...

Her eyes widened as she heard his comment and her blush deepened. Since when did she blush so much? Do the dresses have to do with it? She didn't remember blushing this much. "No thank you, I am full. Anyway, look at the sky. It looks...amazing. There are so many stars."

James smiled. he looked up at the sky. "Lovely...been staring at them since i got here...always woke up with the sun in my eyes though. that and those crabs. dunno how i lasted so long just talking to them...always wishing you, Yuke, Raphael and the others were with me...quite lonely here all by meself". he ate a few slices of orange, and waited to hear what Adeline would have to say, wondering whether he should keep quiet or continue...

"What? You were talking to crabs while on that..." She shook her head. "Poor you." She sighed and studied the floor. "It was somewhat quiet while you weren't here, with us. I don't know what I could do without you James, I..." She stopped herself. She shouldn't get ahead of herself and admit something to James when she didn't even know his feelings for her.

James listened to Adeline. he put his hand under her chin, and raised her face to look at him. "You what?" he inquired. he was wondering whether the words that followed were what he hoped them to be...

Adeline could feel her heart beating faster as James put her hand under her chin. Her eyes wouldn't allow her to look away. "I...I..." Her voice went quieter. At last, she said the words while looking in his eyes. "I love you."

James felt his heart skip a beat when he heard the words come from Adeline's lips. his grin widened to the point one would think they threatened to grow too wide to fit on his face. he said "Adeline....I....You...Those words...they've been plaguing my dreams ever since i've known you...I can think of nothing to better explain what i've felt...I love you too". his heart was beating so fast he feared it'd rip out of his chest. he felt like jumping for joy literally...but that'd be even more ridiculous than some of his father's famous acts...so he tried to contain himself, a huge smile the only way he could express it...

She didn't know what to do next after she heard those words escape from James' mouth. What should a girl do after being told those words? Jump for joy? Continue to normal conversation? What was the right thing to do? Her eyes traveled down to his lips. Her heart screamed for her to do it, but her brain said no. She was listening more to her heart than her brain. But was it the right time? Would there be another time after this? Was James even ready? She should probably wait. Her eyes wouldn't stop staring at his lips as she spoke to him though. "I...James...I..." Was it the right time to talk? She was at a loss for words...

James' hand went from her chin, to her cheek, as the two drew closer and closer together...

Their lips connected. At first, Adeline's eyes widened in suprise, but then they started to close slowly...She wrapped her arms around James' neck. The screaming from her brain disappeared and her heart bursted into joy. It was a wonderful, this feeling inside. She didn't want it to go away. It was like she was...she couldn't explain it! There was a smile on her face that wouldn't go away...

James stood there, practically glued to Adeline, for what seemed like an eternity of joy...the memories of the day they met, and what had happened between them since came flying through his mind. after they broke the kiss, James could do nothing but smile. he hadn't been alone in his feelings afterall...

Adeline was sure after they broke the kiss that her feelings were genuine for the pirate Captain. The smile on her face never left. "James loves me. Loves..." Her thoughts stopped at the word. Love. James loves her. Who else loves her? Eric loves her. She loved James, not Eric. She was with child right now, Eric's child. Her frown started to come back to her face when memories of her and her husband started to appear her mind. She made a promise....a promise that she broke just now. "I-I have to go."

James raised a brow in surprise as Adeline left. he wouldn't stop her. she probably needed time to think about her feelings. he sat there, trying to think through what had just happened, all the while half-heartedly pealing more of the orange...

Adeline went down into the lower decks, where she just bumped into the very person that she just broke the promise to. Her eyes traveled up to his handsome face. "Oh...Eric, I...the sky. It's very beautiful tonight. There are many stars out there." She let a faint smile appear on her face. "This is Eric, your husband. You're married. You're going to have a child soon...HIS child." When he put his hand to her stomach, she almost went as stiff as a board.

"How are you? The both of you? Are you ok? You seem a little pale...Do you want some fresh air?" There was something up with her, but Eric didn't know what.

She shook her head at his suggestion. "No, I'm fine, really!" She gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Just show me to our room, and yes. We are both doing fine."

Eric studied her for a long time before finally leading her to their room. He managed to find one, but it was pretty small. "Here you are, m' lady," he replied with a mock bow to her while she just walked in and lay on the bed, thinking about what just went on above deck, behind Eric's back. She didn't know how to feel right now, but she knew that she was in danger if Eric ever found out. "I just have to keep it secret. He will never find out."
