James grinned at Adeline's comments to Rainbow. he just said "It's pointless, Adeline. once he sees or hears something, it sticks in his mind permanently. the amount of things i've shown him and have had repeated to me later in WORDS, is amazing. he'd probably be able to tell me everything that went on while i was away, without any help". when Adeline asked about dreams, he said "Well, it was rather odd. i remember it's the best dream i've ever experienced. but...oddly, i only vaguely remember it....you....me...onboard the ship...in complete luxury". he sighed as he tried to remember the dream. it was so nice at the time. just him an Adeline, relaxing onboard the ship, with no disturbances from the likes of Nine Tails and Barbossa...or Eric...

"Ah...well, I sometimes have those dreams too, like when I was..." She stopped herself before continuing. She was about to mention Eric and her, but decided it was a wise choice not to. She didn't want him to get sad or angry again. "Wait, Rainbow could hear everything that went on?" She nervously rubbed her shoulder. Rainbow was on board the Red Dawn, sometimes near her and Eric...

James said "Hear AND see, and translate what he saw, into words....the most amazing bird i've ever known...and, regardless of behaviour, one i wouldn't trade for anything else". Rainbow leapt off of his perch and landed on his shoulder. and rubbed his head against James' cheek. "See? even has emotions. something i doubt any other of those feathery fools have. Rainbow's special"...

Adeline was growing nervous while she was hearing this. "Yeah, a very special bird," she said with nervous laughter in her voice. Probably now would be a good time to tell James what she didn't tell him? Or Rainbow could do that. "Uh James...? I think you better sit down."

James raised an eyebrow, but relented. he sat back down, and put down his pistol, which was nearly finished and reassembled...

"I think Rainbow has something to tell you." She looked at the bird, hoping that he understood her. "Rainbow...you do the talking." Her voice was shaking, there was more nervousness in it.

Rainbow cocked his head at Ashley for a moment, obviously slightly confused. but after a moment, he started reciting what had happened, James completing his pistol and arming it just as Rainbow started. Rainbow recited everything that had been seen, said or heard between the two. lines that Eric had said that Adeline probably didn't want heard. James listened intently to the Macaw's words. he had learned a long time ago that when Rainbow repeated something, if he heard a hiss, the prior verse was said aggressively, or done aggressively. if it was followed by a few sweet whistles, it was a friendly move. what he heard, did not please him. "...You're going to sing to me, now sing! RAAAK! Do it, now, Adeline! RAAAK! my songbird! my songbird! RAAK! Adeline beaten! Adeline's pregnant! RAAAAAK!". the Parrot's recollections were absolutely riddled with hisses, and perhaps one whistle, if that. the last two lines of Rainbow's recollection nearly made his eyes stand out on stalks. he was moving his fingers around the hilt of his blade, the veins in his body seemingly inflating as he got angrier. after those last two sentences, he nearly stood up. he was barely containing himself. what came from James' mouth next had so many curses it was hard to make out what else there was. he had probably called Eric every insult ever invented. "That accursed, snake tongued, poison blooded, dirt, headed.....". one would think James' sword's hilt would've been flattened from the strength of his grip on it by now. Rainbow left out the window to get away from the scene as fast as he could...

Adeline was feeling uncomfortable as Rainbow retold everything that went on between her and the man she married. She cringed at the constant hisses coming from the colorful macaw. The part where he retold the things said in Eric's cabin made her wince. She loathed those words that were coming from him. They sounded commanding, almost seductive in a way when he said them and what did she do at the time? Huddle in fear like a little girl and obeyed him. She was constantly wringing her hands as she nervously looked at James. He wasn't doing any better. In fact, it looked as if his temper was going up by the minute. "James," Adeline tried to say, but then Rainbow said the two words that she didn't want James to hear. Those words made James get up from his seat. He looked as if he was barely containing his anger. And then next came the insults by James' mouth. He called Eric almost everything in the book! She winced at every word that came out of his mouth. Her lip was quivering. Her body was shaking up. She glanced down at his hand on his sword. She tried to touch that hand, while saying his name. "James..." Her voice was shaking. What was he going to do next? Was he going to push her away and rage on about Eric?

James notice Adeline's hand moving towards the one he had on his sword. he quickly turned it so that she touched his palm, and closed his hand around hers. "This....is what you've asked me NOT to call a monster? i see that word as a compliment in comparison to what he SHOULD be called. there's no word in existance to describe a person as foul as him!". an idea struck him. he would wait for Adeline's reaction before starting. outside the window, Rainbow squaked "You'll wear a dress in my presence!", another hiss following it. so now he forces Adeline to wear stuff HE likes, instead of what she likes thought James, his blood boiling in anger...

Adeline gasped as James grabbed her hand. She tried to form words, but they wouldn't come. "You...I...you don't know him," she shouted, her heart beating at a fast rate, her lip still quivering.

James said in a forced calm voice "Well, i think i know enough to know that he needs to learn a bit more about how to treat others. Oi! Rainbow! what else do i not know?!". Rainbow peeked around the edge of one of the windows, and squaked something which definately cleared up that case. he looked at Adeline, raising a brow in surprise. it was almost freakishly similar to his own life. "Well, now i do. but, his past should NOT have an effect on how he treats people now. My mother was a slut, my father was a pirate, i was left with my uncle since i was 4, sleeping in a pigsty and doing nothing other than running back and forth on Tortuga around the drunked pirates that came aboard, moving cargo to and from the tavern, making swords for the pirates who asked for them, fighting off rioting pirates nearing my uncle's home or the blacksmith's shop i ran until i left. other than that, i was being yelled at more than being talked to kindly, even by my uncle. and i've been treated roughly ever since, even aboard my own ship. but do you see me beating my friends up and forcing them to do things? no. in fact, i do the opposite as much as possible to avoid risking giving people any feeling similar to what i have felt. i dont exactly love my father, but i dont want him dead either. me mum, she passed away ages ago, when a particularly drunken customer went a bit too rowdy. his skeleton is still hanging off the bridge at the entrance to Tortuga, even when most of the inhabitants protested. and i havent touched any of those girls to avoid giving my son a similar life to mine. but do i go beating up people and forcing them to do stuff they dont want unless it's absolutely neccesary? no, i didn't, and i dont see any warrent for him to do it either".

Adeline was speechless as James revealed his past to her. It was frighteningly similar to Eric's, but with minor differences. Eric had to live with his mother and father for sixteen years and he ended up killing his parents when he couldn't take it anymore. "You're...you're not going to kill him, are you?" Her voice went quieter. "I don't want him to be harmed..."

James said "As much as i'd like to, i wont, for your sake". he wanted to kill Eric, but he knew all too well how it would look to the crew, who obviously knew of the marriage. now he had found Adeline was pregnant, his hopes seemed to suddenly die. the only way to raise a child that he had heard of was on land, until the child grew old enough to take care of itself. a child being raised at sea was something practically unheard of. so many thoughts ran through his head it was beginning to effect his already bad mood. he looked at Adeline, and waited to see what else she'd have to say...

Adeline smiled a little at James and whispered a "Thank you" to him. After that, she didn't know what to say or do, but she knew that she didn't want to leave James' side. "But eventually I'll have to...Eric." Her hand still stayed in James. "Now, sit back down," she commanded softly. "Do you want me to get you anything?"

James sighed, and sat down. "No thanks, Adeline. i'd just rather have you here". he began to think about what had just been revealed to him. he just felt like he had when the Kraken appeared. an odd feeling of half death, as if he had lost all hope. Adeline was married and pregnant, and Eric was in the way. it seemed the person he had fallen hopelessly in love with would forever be out of reach to him. James just drew his sword, and began sharpening it slowly, as if unaware he was doing it...

"Ok, I'll stay then." The silence surrounded them as Adeline, stood, watching James carefully. She sighed when he began to sharpen his sword and walked over to the window, looking out of it. The sun was slowly beginning to rise. The crew would be up soon, as well as Eric. "Eric doesn't need me though, James does." She wondered if they were going to stay here and not face the crew for the day. Adeline did not feel like facing them. She wrapped her arms around herself and went to sit down in an empty chair, still gazing out the window, deep in her own thoughts.

James looked up at Adeline. he said "Adeline, i'm going to get me some warm milk. i have just a bit of chocolate milk left. want some?". he had hidden a small amount of it away from the crabs. he used a dry, empty rum bottle to store it, sealed with a cork. going to get milk would also give him a chance to find out who was awake...

Adeline was awoken by her thoughts by the sound of James' voice. "Hm? Oh, yes please."

Meanwhile, Eric let out a groan and stretched out. He opened his eyes and prepared himself to see Adeline by his side, but she wasn't there. He let out a yawn and got out of bed and scanned the room. She was no where to be found. "Where could that girl be?" He made his way to the door of the room and stumbled out of there. "Adeline," he called, but there was no answer. It was all quiet. Is she on the deck? He made his way out to the deck...

Jams put on his "effects". his pistol, sword, a whip which he had made while he was stuck alone. for some reason, he started to hum the tune of an Irish song he had heard being played in a Tavern on the last British island he was on. it was a soothing tune, something he desperately needed. he picked up a couple of mugs, and walked out of the Quarter's double doors, and out onto the deck, spotting Eric as he went. when he got near him, he said "Oi, Eric. want a word with you in a few minutes, mate"...

Eric looked around the deck. Adeline was not there either. Where was she? "She better not be with..." He heard his name and saw James. His eyes narrowed at the sight of him. He studied Jack Sparrow's son. "Was Adeline with..." His anger started to bubble at the thought of it, but for James' sake, he tried to keep calm. "What about?"
