When the Avenger landed at the port, Darren got off along with Francois and some of the crew. "Right, let's get some food, some more powder, and perhaps some more weapons," commanded Darren. The crew nodded and went straight to work. Darren, on the other hand made his way to the tavern to have a friendly drink or two, maybe even see if he could flirt with a couple of women. He walked down the cobblestone streets, looking at the different shops around the town. When he finally arrived at the tavern, he walked in with confidence and went to the front. "I'll have a drink of ale, please." He gave the bartender two gold coins for it. "I'll be at that table...over there." He gestured toward a table with two lonely looking women. He walked over to them, sat down, and gave them a smile. "What are you two lovely ladies doing alone," he managed to ask, raising his eyebrow.
They looked at each other, giggled, and whispered to each other before one of them finally replied. "Oh, we're just...waiting around," she answered in a strong london-sounding accent. "What about you?"
"Ah, same. You know what I say, two gorgeous ladies, such as yourselves should be accompanied by men. You must have someone around, or at least you must have them waiting at home for you?" He waited for a yes or a no. If it was a yes, he would leave them alone. If it was a no, well he would just continue talking to them and see what happens.
"Oh, I do," answered the other woman. She looked like she was in her thirties. "A husband in the royal navy." She said this with pride. She flicked her hair back, and batted her eyelashes at Darren.
He smiled at her. "He's lucky to have you." Then, he turned his attention to the one that spoke first earlier. "What about you? I didn't hear an answer from you yet, come on. It's not hard." He chuckled, keeping the mood light.
The girl blushed and played with her black hair. "Well...I am due to be married..."
"Too bad," said Darren playfully.
"Um, pardon?" She raised an eyebrow.
The lad rolled his eyes. "Ah, nothing, nothing. Forget I said anything." By this time, his drink arrived. He thanked the bartender and decided to order the girls a drink to be nice to them. He had to admit that they were good company, even though they were both taken.
