"Sir, the ship's ready for departure" came the voice of the King's assistant from outside the large office he considered a throne room. "Thank you, Zereth. Aragren will be there shortly" responded king Aleron. "I suppose it's time to say goodbye, then" said Serephir as he finished his drink and got up from his chair. Aragren, Serephir's second in command and one of his students, moved away from a book case and put a book on Vardian history down on the table. "Anything in particular you want me to watch out for?" he said. "Well, the few ships we already have out there have been intercepting radio frequencies and decoding them. we have a very few true Space Travellers among us who've roamed space for a while, and what we've gathered is this. One of the major races of conscern are the Kloutians, or Klout as some of them call them. According to what i've been told, they're more or less blueish anthropomorphic wolves" said Aleron. "Anthropomorphic wolves...wolves...where have i heard of them before?" he said. "Most likely the museum. they used to roam this planet before the Ralgons became a dominant species and drove them into extinction" said Serephir as he poured himself another drink and sat back down. "Ah, that's right. anyway, continue, Your majesty" said Aragren. "Well, apparently they're one of the more major races among the ones currently found just outside our galaxy. according to our informants, they don't quite like humans, though that information is still in question, since at least a couple have said they shared good relations with the Kloutian race during their travels" said King Aleron. "Right. so should i take it i am to keep on my guard, but avoid combat as much as possible?" said Aragren. "more or less, yes. however, if you're attacked, don't hesitate to fight back. i'm sure that, in the case of a conflict, they'd understand if you were acting in self defense. they are a highly advanced sentient race, afterall". said Serephir as he took a sip from his drink, before looking at his watch. "3:14 PM. it's time you left. the battleship is waiting. i hope to see you in a few months. take care of them" he said. Aragren nodded and gave him a salute, which Serephir lazily returned. "I like respect, but please Aragren, you're more of a younger brother to me than a subordinate" he said. Aragren chuckled and said "Still. it's part of the code. have to keep to that". Serephir said "Eh. you stick to that part of it if you like, but to me, i don't really care either way". Aragren chuckled and then nodded to Aleron, before giving him a salute. "Good luck Aragren. we hope to hear from you soon" said the King, and with that, Aleron left, heading for one of the Alpha class Battle Frigates. "If the worst comes to the worst, we may need to send an ambassador to smoothen out the relationships between us. i take it that humans out there use the same language as us?" said Aleron. "Yes, surprisingly. i didn't expect it, but apparently we use the same language as them. must be due to origin. but that's so far back in history the information's been lost, so we can't tell where our true origins are. only that we most likely share them with that race. the Maricans, if i remember Kage's words right". "Kage...with his kind of personality one wonders how he doesn't end up with everyone in the Galaxy against him" said Aleron. "Well, i guess some people like his personality. with that sort of attitude, it's not unusual for people to look up to him. the stereotypical tough guy" said Serephir with a chuckle. "Yeah...let's just hope that attitude doesn't get them into trouble" said Aleron. Serephir chuckled and said "Relax. they'll be fine". Aleron grunted and walked over to a chair opposite Serephir's and said "Your move". Serephir grinned and put his drink down on a small table next to him and focused on the board in front of him. Shogi...a varient of Chess. he grinned as he looked at Aleron and reached for one of the pieces...
"Let's get moving you scumbags! we have some travelling to do and i want this big tub airborne!" yelled a large, bald man with a brownish blond beard and a mustache as he walked along the airstrip. the jets of the massive ship roared to life as the last bits of cargo were loaded on board. a light clank behind him marked the arrival of the man he'd been waiting for. "'Bout damned time you got here" he said as he turned around and looked Aragren right in the eyes. "Zip it, Kage. I was busy" replied Aragren as he looked around. "Let's get going" he said. Kage grunted, turning away and walking off, Aragren noticing a tribal flame tattoo along the man's right arm. It's like he can't live without having some tattoo burned into his skin every few months. scrap one and put another in it's place. it's a wonder his skin hasn't burned off yet he thought as the man walked off, yelling orders. within minutes, the engines kicked into full power and the Star Frigate Orion lifted off, heading for space...

"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
