I know I haven't been very active, and I know that it may seem a bit rude to just randomly come and suggest a roleplay, but if people approve this one, I think it would work out rather nicely. I'm not quite sure what to do other than post it here and see what the Admins and people say =/.
Description: The Shadowrun world is cross-genre, incorporating elements of both cyberpunk and urban fantasy. The game is set approximately 60 years in the future of present-day Earth, and includes an account of important events from now until the time of the game. As in many near-future cyberpunk settings, Shadowrun includes advanced computer technology and sophisticated cybernetic implants. Unlike in a purely cyberpunk game, in the Shadowrun world, magic returns in 2011. Among other things, this causes humankind to split into subtypes, and some people take the form of elves, dwarfs, orks or trolls. Likewise, some animals turn into the familiar monsters of fantasy, and both monsters and human magicians gain supernatural powers. By the second half of the 21st century, when the roleplay is set, these events are accepted as commonplace. Meaning that people look at a Fantasy Creature the same they would a person of another race. It's just become normal nowadays.
To create a character for Shadowrun, the player selects whether the character will be human or one of the human subtypes, and makes choices regarding body augmentation (cyberware), magic abilities, skills and gear. In this game, you are basically a Mercenary in a future where Technology and Magic co-inside. That, in truth, is the simplest way to put it. Please do not think that this RP is "Corporation Verses Magic." No, it is not like that.
You live in Detroit in the future, which has become the largest City in America, taking up over half of the state of Michigan. It is filled with large corporate buildings, and low scum filled shacks. It is a city with very little law, a complete and total criminal underworld, where everyone does what they can to survive.
Players will take the form of "Shadowrunners." This the term nowadays for elite Mercenaries who utilize both magic and technology to complete their contracts. Not all people may do this. In fact, most people can use no magic whatsoever. However, one way or another, Shadowrunners have come into contact with powerful magic artifacts giving them special abilities, which causes Employers to use them for their own personal gains, whatever it may be, although usually something illegal.
A note to all players, this game will be very gritty. To survive in the criminal future, you need to have, in all honesty, a bad character. Not necessarily evil, but you are a mercenary. You need to be conniving, on the top, you need to be able to kill when you have to, you need to be able to steal and lie and cheat when you must, you need to be able to make alliances when you see it fitting, and still be able to backstab them when the moment arrives.
All in all, to survive in the world of Shadowrun. . . You need to be a ****.
Plot: There's really no plot as of now, if people approve of this and I'm allowed to make it, I'll be glad to play as NPC's who hire people to do this or that.
