One of the rounds caught the zombie dragon in the head, the other in the ribs. The creature's head was thrown to the side, jerked by the force of the impact, the dragon falling off the tower in a spray of blood. A few moments after it cleared, the sensor swivelled around, locking right onto Tsu'Shin above.
The technology developed by the isolated scientists didn't need a radar lock. They were the same men and women who had developed the much welcomed dragon dart missile system. The base's defence system made the dragon dart look like a child's toy. The sensor system locked onto the magical presence of Tsu'Shin, detecting the immense amount of mana in use.
An un-assuming turret in one corner of the compound begun loading. A large mechanism prepping what looked like a railgun. Loaded, the turret raised up on it's mount and pivoted around, aiming at the Shadow Dragon. A safety system on it's barrel unlocked and slid out of place, a loud hum emanating from the weapons battery packs. With a low pitched boom, the weapon fired, recoiling back from the force of the shot.
The shot impacted within the second, the shell initially going right through the Shadow Dragon's incorporeal form, before exploding in a bright flash of blue flame. There was a roar of surprise, and the dragon was suddenly engulfed in a huge flash of blue, a powerful shock wave rippling out of the blast.
When the glow died down, a thin, weak looking dragon was revealed, quivering in the air. So bereft of muscle, it's chest looked like part of it's neck or tail, deprived it's cloak of shadow and energy, Tsu'shin was finally revealed for what it was. The dragon's head tilted down, looking at a clean hole through it's stomach, where the shell had entered, blood leaking out of the wound. It let out a low, wailing moan and fell back, plummeting out of the sky, finally landing just outside the research compound, at the edge of the forest, thumping with a loud crack The singularity cloud above dispersed weakly, the duplicates and the zombie's corpse melting into nothingness...
The meek corpse of the once powerful shadow dragon already began to disintegrate. The beast had been almost nothing but energy, which had been ignited and destroyed by the compound's defence system.
Jacob ran to the wall, watching the gurgling monster die.
