There's actually a guy in the state of Georgia who built a machine to make snow. No, seriously. 'Twas on TWC.
I'd take snow over freezing rain and sleet, or hail. Hail can kill you. Just imagine a baseball sized piece of ice going about the speed of a fastball pitch and slamming you on the back.
Freezing rain causes ice to form on the road, sleet causes little pellets of ice everywhere. Snow is a nuisance, but, generally, it's manageable.
EDIT: Both do actually hurt if it's coming down fast enough but neither can kill just because it's falling. I do newspapers in every kind of weather. Blizzard, snow, ice, rain, thunderstorm, thundersnow (yes, I heard thunder during a blizzard one time while outside, absolutely terrifying). It doesn't matter what's falling from the sky. I'm walking 3 blocks in it.
