Galaak was silent at that, almost ignoring the question. He pressed a button on the wrist module, recalling his nanotech suit as he started to walk towards a wall, which was undoubtedly another passageway. "We've just overcome a difficult trial, Kala. It is best we get some rest" He said over his shoulder before stepping through the newly formed exit. It was his indirect way of saying he would think about the issue. He did not want to make a commitment without knowing what he was getting into, and in order for him to know that, he would have to study the human settlement...

"Will he be alright?" Aya asked one of the ambulence workers.

"He's in critical condition, but he should survive," the worker replied. "Now go and look for others."

Aya nodded, noticing that a few other people had been pulled from the ruins. Only a handful were still alive, however; many of them were already dead, or beyond the point that they could be revived. A few people weren't recovered; only a few limbs had been pulled out, painting a grisly image in the minds of the officers and rescue workers. A smoldering pile of something was in the center of the area, so obviously an explosion had occurred- the question is how big it was. But that wasn't important now. Aya continued searching for possible survivors to this deadly incident, laboring into the night....

Mortum sighed as he was put in the cell. He could do one of two things: let the police do what they wanted with him and be good, or break out now and go home. It was a tough decision, and Mortum needed time to think it out....

"...right." Kala sighed and followed Galaak down the passage, continuing, "Er, you wouldn't happen to have some sort of sterile environment, would you? Somewhere I could take off my suit without, you know, dying?"

"Why do you think we are showered every time we step into the ship?" Galaak replied. "This whole vessel is sterile and sanitized with a few simulation chambers for recreation and enrichment. I could adjust one for conditions ideal for you. It could be your quarters" he explained. The room he was in was circular in shape, with several panels on the walls displaying various bits information. The panels marked the 6 simulation chambers available for use. Galaak would find himself visiting the first when pining for his homeworld, Amrillos. The chamber would flood with water as cold as the depths Ascatians built their cities, the sprawling expanses decorating the marine landscape. When not working, he would hone his powers in there, increasing his skill and control. It was why he was so adept currently, and with even more practice, his skill would be even greater

"Consider it done" Galaak said as he walked up to the second screen. He placed his hand onto the console, which then created a projection in front of him. He tapped various alien words with his fingers, changing the temperature, moisture content and the likes within seconds. When he was finished, the metal panels adjacent to the screen split apart, revealing the large room. A fog rolled out from the entrance low to the floor. The the plating at the center of the chamber split apart, revealing jointed segments that formed a depression that proceeded to be filled with water.

"Now that's what I'm talking about!" Kala replied, eagerly stepping inside and looking around. "Oh, and is there a way to lower the gravity a bit? The air in here's a bit too... dense."

"I can lower the pressure to recreate the feel of a thin atmosphere, but I can just as easily lower the gravity. Though then you and the water would end up floating around the chamber" The Ascatian replied while configuring the simulator, a low hum emanating from within the walls of the room as some of the air was pumped out. He began to chuckle at the mental image a few moments later, blobs of water drifting about the room with Kala in one, the bright light of gravity manipulators illuminating the surreal experience...

"As... interesting as that would be, let's not take our chances..." After the air levels began to lower, Kala tapped a few controls on his wrist, and the chest plates of his suit began to grind and slide apart, allowing the orange-skinned, squid-like Cephian pull himself out, the suit standing still as a statue when he relinquished control of it and floated into the air, tentacles gently rippling of their own accord. His voice was less mechanical, but somewhat more garbled when heard through Galaak's translator: "Ah... That's much better. To be honest, it was getting a bit stuffy in there..."

"As any space as confined as that would, given time. Though when you are out in the vacuum of space with only a suit as protection, you get used to it quickly" Galaak responded, the levels within the chamber stabilizing. "Yes, this should do quite nicely" he said, looking away from the controls to the Cephian inside the room.

Kala bobbed through the air like a fleshy balloon, eventually settling down into the water in the center of the room, saying, "I think it's time I got some shut-eye... Or, you know, whatever would be the term for a creature without obvious eyes. I've been looking at that human crap too much..." With that, he dipped under the water, disappearing from sight...

"Then you know more about them than I do currently..." Galaak thought, turning around and walking away from the screen. The wall plates of the chamber locked together again, cutting off the flow of mist that spilled out from the room, leaving Kala with almost absolute silence.

After a walk through the many sections of the cruiser, the explorer was back to where he awoke hours prior, his hibernation pod now serving the function of a bed. Galaak stepped up and into the pod, laid on his back with his dorsal fin inserted into the slit in the supports. His arms were laid down by his sides. The glass-like cover slid into place and the entire thing filled up with clear water, bubble exiting from where it was being recycled. The sides of the Ascatian's neck seemed to bulge slightly in the water, lines of scales separating to reveal opened gills. His eyes were milky white, transparent eye lids closed over the black ovals from side to side, rather than up and down like in humans. While in the pod, Galaak slipped into a state of inactivity, where his bodily functions slowed, allowing him to rest

As Kala slowly drifted off to sleep in the cold depths of the pool, he thought about Zakai. As the Cephian had been dragged away, helpless and harmless, Kala could feel his anger, his hatred, burning like white-hot coals. He knew Zakai would not just give up so easily. He would find a way out of this mess, Kala knew that for a fact. He had done it before, and he'd do it again, all to get his revenge on the one that had nearly killed him... well, twice so far. Ignoring the unsettling fact that Zakai could return, he finally got his well-deserved sleep...

Atlas backed into the indoor garage of his split level home, turning off the engine on the Lamborghini as he got out, closing the door on the vehicle behind him and heading towards the door to the kitchen, the beep of the car's lock being heard as he opened the door, entering the kitchen and swiftly making himself a decaf coffee, the kettle soon boiling as he shrugged off his jacket and set it down on the sofa in the connecting lounge, turning on the TV and switching it to the news, hoping to find information on the cause of the horrific traffic jam that had kept him out the last two hours. As he poured the hot water over the coffee and sugar and looked towards the large 55'' LED TV set into the wall, footage showed what looked like a war zone. molten bullet holes and scorch marks riddled the walls of buildings, windows were blown out, shattered by unknown causes, the cars in the area were smashed nearly beyond recognition, either dented, burning, half-melted or torn apart, though a few had gotten away with minor dents and smashed windows. and in the middle of it all, a Bomb Squad was investigating a massive crater in the middle of the road, smoke billowing from the hole as embers lay around it's edge, the scene shifting to a bird's-eye-view of the scene, showing a glowing centre to the molten core of the crater, looking as if whatever had gone off had literally obliterated whatever had been there. "...And as you can see, the entire city block has been utterly destroyed. Eye witnesses report streaks of light zipping across the area. One witness went as far as to say it looked 'like something out of a Star Wars movie'. In the midst of it all we have this strange crater, taking up most of the street. the wreckage of the cars that had been here at the time it happened can be seen blown away, mangled lumps of metal imbedded in the sides of buildings, torn apart, burning and melting all around the blast area. Bomb squads are at work investigating the cause of the crater, But for now, no definite cause has been identified. Buildings stand ravaged by what look like...bullet holes. We have yet to find out the cause of the destruction, but we will provide information as it comes. This is Rebecca Sleeter, Channel 5 News, reporting from Downtown Los Diamantes". and with that, the scene returned to the familiar red and gold backdrop as the news anchors shifted to a different topic. Atlas sipped his drink, mind at work as he considered the possible causes. molten holes riddled the walls of the building, indicating high temperature projectiles had hit them. But the spread resembled that of the bullet holes of a gun. The logical conclusion was that they were energy weapons. But who had energy weapons? They were still being worked on. Top Secret work being done by various governments and Weapons Contractors that was still in it's early stages. There were a few prototypes, and some completed ones, sure. But not nearly enough to cause THAT much damage. As the man finished his drink, he headed towards the bedroom, deciding it best he didn't waste time, knowing he'd need to rest for the following day...

The next morning saw Atlas out at precisely 6 AM. The hospital was a 45 minute drive from here, but with the traffic, he'd guess it'd take him an hour and 30 minutes at best. with a large silver briefcase and a lab coat set in the passenger's seat by his side, the man clad in a grey suit and blue tie, had him on his way...

Kevin sat up in his bed, stirred from his early slumber by the reddened rays of the sun shining through his window. He looked at his alarm clock, bitterly noting that it was 45 minutes before it would have burst to life with its loud ringing, jumping around the bedside table. The boy took the clock and deactivated the alarm before putting it back with a relieved sigh. Afterwards, he looked down at himself, at the clothes he still had on from yesterday. Cautiously, Kevin swung his feet off of the bed and then sat up. He feared that any movement he made would result in him breaking out into a wild blur and crashing into a wall...

The light of the dawn shone down into the marshy lake where E-doch lay, the water calm. The reflection of treetops sprawled over the surface of the murky water, along with the scarlet backdrop that was the sky. The craft's photon receptors were active, taking in the abundance of energy that the Earth's star provided. The exterior of the craft's cockpit screen was completely covered in black solar panels.

Lydia slammed a hand onto the source of the alarm that was blaring annoyingly loudly in her ear. The initial blow missed, but unbalanced the clock, which was perched on the edge of her bedside table. It fell to the floor with a loud clatter and kept up it's chirpy beeping. With a resigned sigh, the brunette leaned over to pick it up and turned off the alarm. She took a look at the time, wondered for a sleep-dazed moment why the hell she was getting up so early - then the night before came rushing back. With a curse she threw off her covers and nearly tripped over them as she tried to get to her dresser. She quickly changed from her nightgown into a pair of jeans and a somewhat tight white button-up dress shirt. Running a brush through her hair, with a hair tie held between her lips, she grabbed her keys from her dresser and put them in her pocket. If she was going to pick up Sam and be on time, she'd have to be ready to go in a few minutes - he wouldn't be up yet, she was sure, so he'd be a few minutes. She breezed past the kitchen - coffee would have to wait - unlocked her front door, then shut it and locked it again, approaching and getting into her car. She let out a long breath, feeling rushed and almost anxious, trying to calm her nerves before she started the car. She pulled out, already deciding to take the back roads to avoid the heavy traffic. Hopefully Sam wouldn't mind the free ride...

There was little more the officers could do. They had searched through most of the rubble and only a few people ahd be pulled out alive. Aya was exhausted, as she was sure the other officers were too. One of the higher ranking officers turned to her and said, "You've had a long day. Go get some rest, but I expect you to be at the station by 8:00." Aya sighed. She knew that this was her job, but still.... two hours of rest, at best? Aya got in her squad car and drove groggily back towards her station. Since she was already dressed, maybe she would just take a nap until 8 rolled around....

Jackson yawned loudly and stretched. It had been a long evening, and disappointing, too. Many of his thugs had gone out and caused some trouble, since they had nothing to do when the robbery was postponed. He remembered the call he'd recieved.... should he go and check it out, or play it safe? Considering he'd just cancelled his big ambition since he infiltrated this goddamned city, he'd better go. And he might as well go early.

"Buff! Tux!" Lynch shouted. "Get your asses in here!"

Two men, one over 6'6" and clad in riot police gear, the other being roughly 5'4" and wearing a gas mask, come in.

"Take that **** off and wear something casual," Jackson growled. "We're gonna do something very important today."

"What boss?" Buff asked.

"We're headed to Greensbrook park to meet some ******* that wants to meet us in person."

"Ya sure that's safe?"

"Either way, we might as well. I fuckin' interupted our plans just to to this!"

The two thugs nodded and took off their gear, revealing their casual clothing. They follow Jackson into their garage and drive out in a voltswagen, hoping its relatively casual appearence doesn't draw much attention...

The same alleyway that had Dr. Craven meeting up with the 7 Sins now had the same scientist leaning against one of the walls of the alleyway, smoking from the wooden pipe he had. "So they wanted me just to locate some girl that they ran into earlier?" He asked himself, grumbling abit as he cracked his back. That was indeed what the three members had asked him to do. Apparently, the girl that they wanted to track down had killed 4 of their members before, and they wanted revenge. They had searched years for her, and after running into her yesterday and nearly killnig her, only for her to slip away, they were now desperate. Hence them asking him for help. The scientist chuckled as he spat onto the ground. Normally, he wouldn't have offered to help them. After all, he himself was a wanted man, due to his attempted murders on his former student. However, when they had told him just where they had last encountered her, he accepted their offer. Sure, the $30,000 was appreciated, but from the location description... if he carried out what he was wanted to do... then he'd be killing two birds with one stone...

The morning saw TIffany already up and in her lab coat. While her hair was still something of a mess, she didn't care about that. She had woken up earlier than her alarm just to do a little experiment...

A pair of thin, orange-skinned arms emerged from the frigid pool in E-doch's makeshift quarters for Kala, the Cephian pulling himself sluggishly out of the water and slowly floating up into the air. Even for a creature adapted to the cold, it made the Cephian sluggish, and he wanted nothing more than to go back into his suit and wake up a bit...

The pod was drained of water and its glassy casing opened. The explorer raised himself from it, the milky white lenses sliding back into the corners of his eyes. He looked to the display suspended over his place of rest. E-doch had charted the current light cycle of planet, the summer season offering long periods of daylight and heat. The ship could practically stay cloaked in a clearing somewhere, maintaining power levels despite the many systems at work in the vessel. A mechanical limb popped out from the pod that carried a small tray. On it was the command module, Galaak retrieving it and putting it back on his wrist. He then got out of the pod and walked over to the wall to the right of it, the panels spreading to reveal a closet of sorts, the Ascatian's work wear compressed by a clear wrapping. Once he touched a wrapped up ensemble, the coating bunched up and released the clothing which Galaak quickly put on, a white shirt and pants bound together at the waist by the Ascatian's silver belt. Once properly dressed, the explorer made his way to his post at the cockpit to start his duties...

Kevin put away the last of his casual clothes, now in more home oriented attire: a large plain T-shirt and black sweat pants. "So far, so good" he said to himself. He turned around slowly and began walking to his door. He would take a shower, greet his father for the morning then see him off as he went to work. He would do so without making his father worry or suspect there was anything different about him. If he could pull that off, then he would then stay at home for the rest of the day, making sure a repeat of his "intercity sprint" does not happen...
