After the slash, the Acrocanthosaur was prepared. The ram, while powerful, hadn't been enough to knock the pale predator to the ground, instead being countered by the beast's own hefty build, a counter ram stopping the Spinosaur dead in its tracks, claws scoring down the piscivore's hide, matching the Spinosaur's own attack, though on a smaller scale. A snarl escaped the Acrocanthosaur as it pulled back, putting more space between itself and the Spinosaurus. Claws splayed and jaws parted once more, the predator was ready for an attack this time...
Morphena continued to press her target, keeping uncomfortably close, trying to scare her foe into action. So far, it was doing a good job of keeping itself alive, extremely wary and careful not to rush into the jaws of the Tyrannosaur before it. For now at least, it was a waiting game. Morphena knew these were not major threats compared to what they would face later. She had to be careful not to hurt or tire herself out before they got to Thrasher, and the companions he would no doubt use to try and gain an advantage...
Crusher had no such reservations. His colours had grown more vibrant, greys turning black, browns growing darker and richer, his beige underside turning nearly off-white, light brown patterns along his flanks brightening and gaining an almost iridescent texture; the trait that had made his father infamous. The Rex's eyes were now a dark orange-red, a sliver of rich yellow outlining narrowed pupils, the terrifying glare of the Rex unnerving his opponent even more as the Rex pressed his offence. Growling loudly, the male lunged forward, the Acrocanthosaur once again trying to evade. This time however, it had failed. A sickening crunch sounded out for all to hear as a loud roar came from the predator, the ripping of flesh audible as Crusher pulled away, tearing off one of the predator's arms with a vicious snarl. He watched as the Acrocanthosaur backed away, horrified at this turn of events, only able to watch as Crusher ate the limb whole, a low growl rumbling in his throat as its blood coated his fangs. Panic began to set in. It was wavering. But Crusher knew they were short on time...he would have to up the pace...
The Spinosaurus had finally found Thrasher. The massive Spinosaurus was standing amidst a clearing, massive trees casting a dark shade over the area, shimmering yellow eyes glowing eerily in the dark as the giant looked down at the frightened predator, his hide one with the plantlife around him, the same mottled green making him difficult to see even despite his massive size. "The Rex! Crusher! He's here! And he's not alone!" hissed the Spinosaur, out of breath. A low, rough growl responded to it, an unamused Thrasher looking down at the smaller predator irritably. "Yes, that is what they're saying. I've tended to the matter already. Out of curiosity though, who's with him?" rumbled the giant in a chilling calm. "Nuka. And another Rex I've never seen before" hissed the other predator lowly. "I heard that treacherous minnow-eater was back. She should've stayed in that swamp and died like a good little girl. I'll see to it she learns how great a mistake it was to show her face here again...As for this other Rex...We'll soon see how much Crusher likes the sight of his comrade in pain" rumbled the behemoth. "Go find Rake. I want his Troodon friends to fill me in on what they've gathered of Crusher's kin...It's time I squashed this pest and everything he holds dear" hissed Thrasher as he turned and headed back to one corner of the dark clearing, the smaller Spinosaur nodding as it left the giant in peace. As it left, it realised there were several pairs of glowing eyes watching in the dark....Thrasher's closest kin and comrades were there, watching....waiting. It was little wonder the Spinosaur was so calm. His den was impenetrable...The Rexes would die, and Nuka along with them....long before they even got the chance to lay a fang or claw on the predator...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
